Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
"CHILLY TO START, A MILDER AFTERNOON"
Northerly winds have brought in a very cool and dry airmass across Southwest Florida, and as a result we'll be feeling some of the coldest air so far this season.
Clear skies overnight and light winds have allowed temperatures to plummet into the upper 40s to 50° along the urban corridor this morning. Some of our inland and northern communities will be waking up to numbers in the mid 40s, so jackets and sweaters will come in very handy as you head out the door.
High pressure migrating east across the southern states will keep our weather sunny and bright with comfortable humidity values. Despite plenty of sunshine this afternoon, daytime highs will be a bit milder compared to yesterday's high of 70° with temperatures rebounding into the middle 70s along with a nice northeasterly breeze.
Tonight wont be quite as cold as the airmass in place will start to modify. Skies will remain clear and lows here in town will drop into the mid 50s with a few upper 40s deeper inland.
By the weekend, our winds will start to take more of an easterly turn, which will usher in some low level moisture from the Atlantic. A few more clouds will be drifting across our skies with no mention of rain in the forecast.
Temperatures will recover into the lower 80s for highs, while overnight lows settle into the mid 60s. A week front will try to make its way down the peninsula early next week, but rain prospects remain fairly low with not much of a cool down as 80° readings will remain on the thermometer.

THIS AFTERNOON, PRESIDENT OBAMA'S EXPECTED TO URGE CONGRESS TO EXTEND THE BUSH TAX CUTS RIGHT AWAY. AND COOPERATE TO AVOID THE FISCAL CLIFF --

THAT MEANS DEMOCRATS MAY HAVE TO TAKE THE HATCHET TO SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE:
North Dakota
"You're gonna have to cut some additional spending."
AND REPUBLICANS MAY HAVE TO RAISE TAXES ON THE WEALTHY. CONSERVATIVES SAY THAT'S NOT WHAT HOUSE SPEAKER JOHN BOEHNER MEANT THIS WEEK WHEN HE SIGNALED HIS PARTY'S OPEN TO CREATING NEW REVENUE:
"Boehner's position is exactly what it was a year ago, two years ago, four years ago -- don't raise taxes, have pro-economic growth policies. And the government will get more revenue."
BOEHNER ALSO SPEAKS TODAY:
"What we're gonna have to watch is whether speaker or president on completely different planets."

Maine
"It will still create a level of uncertainty going forward until everything is finally determined in the new congress."

Weather Trends
