WEATHER-WX CENTER

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

A large cell of high pressure will stay anchored down just to our north Sunday, providing for another partly sunny and seasonable day across Southwest Florida.

Enough moisture will get carried in with the strong easterly breeze to generate some patchy clouds through the day, but moisture won't quite be plentiful enough to mention much of a rain chance. It's quite possible see a sprinkle or two, but those should mainly stay deeper inland across the interior. Overall, our sky should stay partly sunny.

We'll add on a few more degrees to our daytime highs again this afternoon with temperatures projected to warm into the low to mid 80s. Humidity levels will also get a little boost today but will stay pretty comfortable.

Like Saturday, winds will be quite gusty again and perhaps a little stronger than what we had Saturday afternoon. Wind speeds will mostly range from 5-15 mph, but we'll have some gusts as high as 25 mph.

As we head into next week, we'll be tracking a cold front that will start to make its way into North Florida by Monday and Tuesday. Confidence is high this front won't be able to make it to Southwest Florida, so our weather will continue to stay fairly mild during the day and pleasantly cool at night. Daytime highs will mainly stay in the low to mid 80s with lows cooling into the mid 60s.

Our rain chance will continue to stay pretty low into next week, but a few stray showers can't be ruled out as a little moisture continues to ride in with the easterly breeze. Return to index of stories...

FLORIDA FINAL VOTE COUNT OVER-OC

4 DAYS AFTER THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, THE COUNTING IS FINALLY OVER HERE IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA

BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE WONDERING WHY IT TOOK SO LONG.

KERRY SANDERS HAS MORE FROM MIAMI. Return to index of stories...

FLORIDA FINAL VOTE COUNT OVER-PKG

AS IF THE LINES WERE NOT LONG ENOUGH.

Accept!

IT TOOK FLORIDA FOUR DAYS TO COUNT THE MORE THAN 8-MILLION VOTES.

IT WAS A SQUEEKER -- IF ONLY THE BALLOTS HERE HAD MATTERED.

We are an american family and we rise and fall together as one nation and one people.

PRESIDENT OBAMA ALREADY HAD WON RE-ELECTION WITHOUT THIS STATE'S PRIZED VOTE TOTALS AND THIS STATES PRIZED 29 ELECTORIAL VOTES.

President obama didn't need to carry the state, but the fact that the two polical armies of democrats and republicans fully mobilize and have a difference of only 74,000 votes, that tells you how competative our politics are going ot be for years to come, republicans are going to have to raise their game though in a state that once was theirs.

WHILE FLORIDA DIDN'T DELAY THE NATION.

LIKE IT DID IN 200O WITH IT'S HANGING CHADS.

THE STATE AGAIN HAD PROBLEMS.

ONE BIG COMPLAINT?

FLORIDA GOVERNOR RICK SCOTT WOULD NOT EXTEND EARLY VOTING FROM 8 DAYS TO THE USUAL 14.

THE GOVERNOR HERE.POPULAR WITH THE TEA PARTY.TOLD REPORTERS:

"What I'm trying to do is improve the way government works.I believe in efficiency.

Sample ballots

FLORIDA VOTERS -- WHO WERE IN LINES UP TO 7 HOURS ON ELECTION DAY.SAY THE ENTIRE PROCESS IS EMBARRASING.

"They don't call it flor-I-Duh for nothing."

ONE OF THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENTS WOMEN HAVE WHEN THEY DELIVER THEIR BABY THROUGH A C-SECTION, IS THAT THEY DON'T GET TO MEET OR HOLD THEIR BABY IMMEDIATELY.

SOME MOTHERS PLAN THEM, OTHERS ARE TAKEN QUITE BY SURPRISE. EITHER WAY, 1 IN 3 BABIES IN THE U-S ARE DELIVERED VIA C-SECTION.

DR. GEORGE KOVACEVIC/OBSTETRICIAN

RUNS:

1:42 And a lot of those moms and babies do not get a chance to bond right away because the moms not getting the baby for a while.

A CESAREAN IS A SURGICAL DELIVERY OF A BABY THROUGH AN INCISION IN THE MOTHER'S BELLY. DR. GEORGE KOVACEVIC HAS PERFORMED MORE THAN HE CAN COUNT.

DR. GEORGE KOVACEVIC/OBSTETRICIAN

RUNS:

:40 In most units what would happen is the baby would be born and then handed to a specially trained baby nurse who would then take the baby off to another area and make sure baby's doing fine. And then often mom wouldn't see the baby until the recovery room which might be an hour or two hours later.

AFTER A NATURAL BIRTH MOM AND BABY ARE ABLE TO BOND IMMEDIATELY. BUT THE C-SECTION REQUIRES A STERILE SURGICAL AREA, THAT COULDN'T BE BREACHED. UNTIL THE GENTLE C-SECTION PROCEDURE WAS BORN.

DR. GEORGE KOVACEVIC/OBSTETRICIAN

RUNS:

3:37 As soon as the baby is delivered through the abdomen, as the surgeon I hand the baby to a specially trained baby nurse who's in sterile gowns. That baby nurse then comes around and has puts the baby on moms chest. I'm continuing with the surgery, mom has the baby on her chest.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

The mother and child reunion has several benefits. Beginning with skin to skin contact. It seems kick start their bonding and overall well-being.

DR. GEORGE KOVACEVIC/OBSTETRICIAN

RUNS:

2:03 I think it's incredibly important. Research shows there's fewer cases of post partum depression if mom and baby get to bond right away.

SO THIS KINDER, GENTLER C-SECTION IS DELIVERING A HEALTHY START FOR NEW FAMILIES.FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM, I'M AMY OSHIER. Return to index of stories...

CRIME STOPPERS-OC

CAPE POLICE ARE TRYING TO IDENTIFY AND LOCATE A MAN WHO ROBBED A CAPE CORAL 7-11 STORE JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO.

BUT THIS ARMED THIEF DOESN'T FIT THE PROFILE OF YOUR TYPICAL CRIMINAL.

TRISH ROUTTE WITH CRIME STOPPERS HAS THE STORY. Return to index of stories...

CRIME STOPPERS-PKG

In the early morning hours of a late October Thursday, an unsuspecting man meanders into a relatively new Cape Coral 7-11 store, brandishing a knife and demanding all the cash in the drawer. The clerk calmly complied - but not before surveillance cameras caught the crime in progress.

Lt. Tony Sizemore - "He was pretty low key and relaxed for somebody committing a violent felony right before our eyes."

The unidentified man entered the Skyline Boulevard store just before 1:30 in the morning on October 25th. Security cameras captured images of the robber, and the knife he made clearly visible at his side. But what sets him apart from other criminals is that he's not the picture of your serial violent offender. Rather, he looks like an average Joe at a convenience store late at night.

Lt. Sizemore - "When you watch him walk, and you know the person, you'll notice the distinct leaning and gait with which he walks. We're hoping that's a tell tale sign."

Trish Routte: Detectives are confident that because of the suspects calm demeanor and mannerisms that someone will be able to identify him and help send him directly to jail, where he belongs.

They also have the benefit of an atypical physical description of this laid back lawbreaker.

Lt. Sizemore - "Our forensic experts put him over 6 feet tall, he has a little more of a portly build, a distinct hairline with sideburns, and we believe he's left handed, by the fact that he's holding the weapon used to commit the robbery on his left hand and takes the proceeds with his right."

As is corporate policy, convenience stores keep very little cash in the till - especially late at night. So for a relatively small take, this armed robber could face up to two years in prison for his crime. All police need at this point is for someone to provide an ID.

Lt. Sizemore - "This is a very solvable case. We think somebody is a going to put a bad guy in jail and b, make some money."

And all it takes that one anonymous phone call.

For Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, I'm Trish Routte. Return to index of stories...

GENERAL DAVID PETRAEUS' STELLAR MILITARY AND GOVERNMENT SERVICE CAREER CAME TO AN ABRUPT END ON FRIDAY.

HIS RESIGNATION LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA INCLUDING A PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF AN EXTRA-MARITAL RELATIONSHIP.

THAT AFFAIR. EXPOSED. SOURCES SAY. FOLLOWING AN INVESTIGATION INTO EMAILS

FROM PETRAEUS BIOGRAPHER PAULA BROADWALL TO ANOTHER WOMAN -- NOT RELATED TO THE FORMER GENERAL --

WHO WENT TO THE FBI WITH A COMPLAINT OF HARASSMENT.

OFFICIALS SAY THE FBI TRACED THE EMAILS IN QUESTION TO BROADWELL. AND ONLY STUMBLED UPON CORRESPONDENCE BETWEEN THE WRITER AND

THE DIRECTOR OF THE C-I-A.

"My guess the decision was made near or at the top level of the FBI to sit down with General Petraeus and have a discussion with him and let him know this information had been discovered."

LAW ENFORCEMENT AND MULTIPLE U.S. OFFICIALS TELL NBC NEWS THAT EMAILS BETWEEN GENERAL PETRAEUS AND PAULA BROADWELL

WERE INDICATIVE OF AN EXTRA-MARITAL AFFAIR. NBC NEWS TRIED BUT WAS UNABLE TO REACH PAULA BROADWELL FOR COMMENT.

ACCORDING TO MULTIPLE SOURCES. THE INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY LEARNED OF THE INVESTIGATION ON ELECTION DAY.

PRESIDENT OBAMA DIDN'T KNOW OF IT UNTIL THURSDAY. MEETING WITH PETRAEUS WHO OFFERED TO RESIGN THAT DAY.

OBAMA ACCEPTED THE RESIGNATION FRIDAY. SOME DISAGREE WITH THAT DECISION.

-R NY - Homeland Security Chairman 1:14 - 1:23

"There's no criminal conduct involved. It's basically a matter for him and his family. Its not conduct we encourage. It's not the best conduct obviously. But again we're talking about a man of great talent."

LAW ENFORCEMENT SOURCES TELL NBC NEWS THAT GENERAL PETRAEUS IS NOT UNDER INVESTIGATION AND THAT THEY DON'T

EXPECT THEIR INQUIRY WILL RESULT IN CRIMINAL CHARGES.

FORECAST-WXWALL
