THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Monday ended up being fairly cloudy at times across Southwest Florida, but a lot of those clouds will fade today, giving way to more sunshine and warmer temperatures.
We'll start this Tuesday with mostly clear and sunny conditions; the only exception will be in the few spots we see some patchy fog during the early morning hours.
The breeze will ease up a little today, but winds will still mostly be out of the east, ranging from 5-15 with some higher gusts.
Temperatures will run slightly above average this afternoon with daytime highs mostly reaching the mid 80s.
Rain prospects look pretty low today, so aside from one or two stray showers, our First Alert LIVE Radar will show dry weather from start to finish.
Wednesday is also looking like another quiet day. We'll mention the possibility of seeing a few more clouds around as a weakening cool front fades and fizzles across North Central Florida, but this system will have little influence on our weather. A spotty shower or two may develop Wednesday afternoon, but rain chances will stay below 20%.
We'll have to wait for the next cold front to move through early this weekend for our next rain chance and dose of cool air.
Thursday and Friday look to be very pleasant, mild days with lots of sunshine. Temperatures will be close to average for this time of year with highs in the low to mid 80s and lows in the low to mid 60s.
The next cool front to head our way will approach Southwest Florida Saturday. We may see a few isolated showers as it passes through, and then we'll start to feel some changes in the air by Saturday evening.
Temperatures by Sunday morning should cool into the mid to upper 50s, and our daytime temperatures Sunday will be noticeably cooler with highs in the mid to upper 70s. The air will feel more refreshing, too, as humidity levels start to drop off.
The sunny, refreshing weather will linger into early next week, too. Afternoon temperatures should only warm to the mid to upper 70s, and overnights will cool into the 50s.

JIM LOULOUDES SAYS IT WILL LIKELY BE SIX TO EIGHT MONTHS BEFORE HE'S BACK IN HIS FAIRFIELD BEACH ROAD HOME.
"You know, I had the refrigerator floating, the washer and dryer were all filled with water, the duct work was all flooded out and stuff. So, you know, it was kinda bad, you know, but we'll deal with it."

"If damage is more than $85,000 they'll make you lift your house up. So, that's another issue we're gonna have to deal with. You know, it depends on what our elevation is here and how high you'll have to lift it up."
STANDUP: "It's been two weeks and the massive cleanup project is still ongoing. You can see this huge truck, the crane, the claw. It's picking up large amounts of debris here right along the road in Fairfield. While the cleanup process continues and a lot of folks are making repairs and rebuilding, some, well. they're actually moving."

STILL WITH ALL THE DAMAGE AND DEVASTATION, THOSE ALONG THE WATER LIKE JIM REMAIN DETERMINED.

CHANCES ARE YOU'VE SEEN THE APPLE STORE.
THEY'RE POPPING UP EVERYWHERE.
HOWEVER, IN CALIFORNIA - A FORMER APPLE EXEC HAS A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE NEWEST LOCATION.
HE SAYS IT'S TOO LOUD.
SCOTT BUDMAN REPORTS.

NAT OPEN: OUTSIDE
OUTSIDE. IT'S A GIANT MODERN GLASS STRUCTURE.
NAT: INSIDE
INSIDE, IT'S A MAGNET FOR GADGET SHOPPERS. EAGER TO TEST THE NEXT IPAD, IPHONE, OR MACBOOK COMPUTER.
IT'S THE NEWEST APPLE STORE, IN DOWNTOWN PALO ALTO.
BUSY, AND PROFITABLE.
BUT IS IT ALSO. TOO LOUD?
THIS BLOG POST BY FORMER APPLE EXECUTIVE JEAN LOUIS GASSE CLAIMS THE NEW STORE IS TOO NOISY.
IN THE BLOG, HE SAYS HE EVEN MEASURED THE DECIBELS WITH A SOUND PRESSURE LEVEL METER.
WE REACHED OUT TO APPLE, WHICH HAD NO COMMENT ON GASSE'S OPINION.
WE ALSO REACHED OUT TO APPLE SHOPPERS.
"it is pretty noisy. beautiful store, otherwise."
"it wasn't loud. it was normal."
"did it seem loud? absolutely normal."
"I thought it was very impressive, almost walked through a glass door. it's a very exciting noise."
AS ANYONE WHO'S EVER BEEN IN A MALL. OR INSIDE AN APPLE STORE KNOWS. IT 'IS' AN EXCITING NOISE.
IT'S THE SOUND OF CAPITALISM.
BUT. IS IT ENOUGH TO TURN SHOPPERS AWAY?
"did it seem loud? at first, it was kind of scary, the alarm went off, it was loud. it was a lot of fun."
WHATEVER IT IS, IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE SLOWING SALES.
WE'LL LEAVE IT TO YOU. TO TAKE A LISTEN.

THANKS JIM.
IT'S A TROUBLING TREND AMONG TEENS.
SO-CALLED 'PHARM PARTIES' - SHORT FOR PHARMACEUTICALS.
ON TODAY'S MEDICAL FRONT,
JENNIFER ABNEY LOOKS AT THE DANGEROUS AND EVEN DEADLY PHENOMENON.
Return to index of stories...
"A Pharm party is when a bunch of kids, you know either buy whatever kind of pills you can get your hands on. It's similar to any other party, your going to find other drugs like alcohol and marijuana and stuff."
"It's extremely dangerous. I mean, it's like literally playing Russian roulette."
IT'S NOT A NEW TERM-- BUT IT'S ONE THAT DR. NEIL CAPRETTO IS STARTING TO HEAR MORE OFTEN.
HE SAYS WHEN YOU START MIXING DRUGS, YOU CAN GET A LETHAL COMBINATION
"There was a young girl in our community recently was at a party and took two pills, didn't know what they were. They were two 80 mg of oxycontin. that's equal to 36 percocets at one time."
A RECENT STUDY SHOWED 20 PERCENT OF TEENS WILL HAVE TRIED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS BEFORE THEY GRADUATE.
THIS PATIENT POPPED HIS FIRST PAINKILLER WHEN WAS JUST 14 YEARS OLD.
"My mom was in surgery and we had some pills around the house so I took those. For Opiates I used to do a Perk 30 or an Oxy 5. I was doing that at least once a day."
"I tell parents treat narcotic medicine like it's a loaded gun bc actually more people die in your community from OD from Rx medicines than homicides and traffic fatalities."
ADDICTION DOESN'T DISCRIMINATE.
THE PATIENT WE INTERVIEWED GREW UP IN AN AFFLUENT SUBURB.
THAT'S WHY DR. CAPRETTO SAYS PARENT NEED TO BE INVOLVED IN THEIR CHILD'S LIFE.
"Keep your radar on. This is too important. The life of your child depends on this."

--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS --
THE GIFT CARD GAME HAS CHANGED OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS.
THE CARD ACT OF 2009 EXTENDED MANY PROVISIONS REGARDING FEES, TERMS AND CONDITIONS TO GIFT CARDS, BUT A NEW SURVEY SHOWS CONSUMERS STILL NEED TO BE AWARE OF WHAT THEY'RE BUYING.
IN THE LEAD-UP TO THE HOLIDAY SHOPPING SEASON, BANKRATE LOOKED AT 63 GIFT CARDS, 8 ISSUED BY BANKS AND CREDIT CARD COMPANIES, AND 55 FROM RETAILERS AND RESTAURANTS.
GENERAL USE GIFT CARDS WERE FAR MORE LIKELY to HAVE FEES ATTACHED. PURCHASE FEES RANGED FROM $2.95 TO $6.95. INACTIVITY FEES COULD EAT UP 3 DOLLARS PER MONTH AFTER THE FIRST YEAR.
THE TRADE OFF: MORE FREEDOM.
That's the biggest advantage of one of the general purpose gift cards is the flexibility it gives to the person you give the gift card to. Store branded gift cards you have to use at the chain or the brand so that limits it, but there are fewer fees that come with those cards.
TWO-THIRDS OF ISSUERS SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE LOST OR STOLEN CARDS, THOUGH SOME REQUIRE THAT YOU REGISTER THE CARD OR HAVE A RECEIPT.
Consumers should look on the back of their gift card to find out what they really need to do to protect themselves.
AND 95 PERCENT OF THE CARDS SURVEYED DID NOT HAVE AN EXPIRATION DATE.
FOR CONSUMER WATCH, I'M KARIN CAIFA.
