5:02 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX CENTER

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"Mainly dry and staying warm"

After several days with temperatures in the 80s, it looks we'll tack on a couple of more before some changes in our weather pattern take place over the weekend.

Temperatures have cooled into the lower to middle 60s this morning, so a few patchy areas of fog are possible around sunrise mainly east of the I75 corridor and north of the Caloosahatchee. A weak cool front continues to weaken and wash out across the central part of the state and with a slight push of some dry air, this should stabilize our atmosphere through the afternoon and keep our rain prospects less than 20%. This will lead to mostly to partly sunny skies and daytime highs climbing into the lower to middle 80s.

Tonight, skies will go mostly clear with lows settling into the lower to middle 60s by early morning with light winds.

We will round out the work week with near normal temperatures in the lower half of the 80s. You will also notice an increase in the clouds during the afternoon on Friday ahead of another system that will push a cold front through our part of the state on Saturday. Right now, it doesn't look like this front will have much moisture to work with so rain chances will be capped at 20-30% late Friday and into Saturday morning with a few widely scattered showers.

In the wake of this front, a cooler and drier airmass will filter down the peninsula which will keep our nights cool and our afternoons mild and pleasant. High pressure will dominate our weather through the early part of the week with plenty of sunshine and lower humidity values. Return to index of stories...

5:32 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX CENTER

TODAY PRESIDENT OBAMA HEADS TO NEW YORK CITY TO TOUR DAMAGE FROM SUPERSTORM SANDY.

AND WE WANT TO GET BACK TO THE PRESIDENT'S NEWS CONFERENCE WEDNESDAY. FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE BEING RE-ELECTED.

IT COVERED A LOT OF GROUND, INCLUDING THE PETRAEUS SCANDAL AND THE FISCAL CLIFF.

BUT THE REAL FIREWORKS CAME WHEN THE PRESIDENT WAS ASKED ABOUT NEGATIVE COMMENTS FROM REPUBLICAN SENATORS ON THE POSSIBILITY THAT UN AMBASSADOR SUSAN COULD BECOME SECRETARY OF STATE.

115751 sen. mccain: but we will do whatever's necessary to block the nomination that's within our power as far as susan rice is concerned.

11:51:56 i don't trust her. and the reason i don't trust her is because i think she knew better, and if she didn't know better, she shouldn't be the voice of america.

14:03:21 potus: if senator mccain and senator graham and others want to go after somebody, they should go after me. and i'm happy to have that discussion with them. but for them to go after the u.n. ambassador, who had nothing to do with benghazi and was simply making a presentation based on intelligence that she had received and to besmirch her reputation is outrageous.

YOU COULD SEE THE PRESIDENT VISIBLE ANGRY OVER IT.
