THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
GREAT WEATHER CONTINUES
It was an interesting day across Florida. Our part of the state was sunny and nice while clouds and cool temperatures prevailed to the north …. Orlando was only in the 60's and cloudy all day today! An area of low pressure in the Atlantic has kept a northerly wind flow over the state and, thankfully, the clouds and chilly temperatures did not make it here. Tonight, as the temperatures cool back into the 60's, we may pick up a few clouds drifting down from the north. Partly cloudy weather will start off Tuesday with a low in the mid 50's. Temperatures will recover to the upper 70's tomorrow and skies will be partly cloudy throughout the day. As we look ahead to the Thanksgiving holiday the weather pattern in our part of Florida still looks good. A few clouds are in the picture for Wednesday and mostly sunny weather comes back for Thursday and Friday. Daytime highs will be in the mid and upper 70's with over night lows in the mid 50's this week. It doesn't appear that we will be dealing with any significant weather this week and into the upcoming weekend.

"You just get a little lazy and that's when bad things happen."
Firefighters don't want this happening to you--or your thanksgiving dinner.
Nats
The charlotte county fire department demonstrated what can go wrong with a combination of what "not to do". A still-frozen bird, dropped into too much oil at temperatures too high is the perfect storm for a fire.
Take sound
Larry Lippel, Battalion Chief
"That grease doesn't have to be on fire but when it hits you it definitely is going to burn its 350-400 degrees and that oil, when it hits your skin it's going to hurt and cause serious burns if it doesn't catch your clothes on fire."
Take file vo
And in this case--a lee county home caught fire two years ago when a turkey fryer burst into flames two feet away from the home.
Nats
Making things worse--trying to use a garden hose to put it out.
Take sound
Larry
"Water and oil just don't mix and that's when we have our problems."
Take standup
"While the fire department doesn't discourage you from using a turkey fryer there is a safer alternative. There is an oil-less turkey fryer and you just have to do us hook this up to the propane tank and there's no risk of oil splashing up at you."
The national fire protection association encourages these type of outdoor cooking appliances. Whether it's a fryer that uses oil or not, it's recommended that you monitor it at all times. Make sure the bird is thawed out and cooked at 350 degrees--to get that tasty turkey.
Take sound
Larry
"Be safe follow the directions. Make sure it's in a safe area, make sure it's away so nobody else gets hurt. Just enjoy it."
