COOLER WEATHER IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA TODAY!
HAVE YOU NOTICED THE CHANGE?
AS NICE AS IT IS - WILL IT CONTINUE THROUGH THANKSGIVING?
NBC2 METEOROLOGIST JIM REIF STARTS US OFF AT NOON.
JIM IT'S FEELING GREAT OUTSIDE!
Return to index of stories...
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
A canopy of low clouds will make for a pretty cloudy start to our Tuesday morning, but these clouds should begin to break up some by midday and through the afternoon.
While the clouds stick around this morning, temperatures will be quite cool and slow to rise. Temperatures should hover around the mid to upper 50s through the first half of the morning before gradually climbing into the mid to upper 60s by midday.
Once the clouds break up this afternoon and sunshine starts mixing in, we'll start to warm up pretty quickly with daytime highs projected to reach the mid to upper 70s.
We'll keep a few patchy clouds in the forecast tonight, but we shouldn't be nearly as cloudy as last night. Meanwhile, temperatures will be on the cool side yet again as lows drop into the mid to upper 50s.
Wednesday will be another transition day across Southwest Florida as another cool, dry air mass begins to settle in. As this next batch of cool air starts to push our way, some clouds will likely stream overhead, making for a partly cloudy day. A strong northerly wind will also develop through the day with gusts probably getting as high as 20 mph. Overall, Wednesday should be a pretty comfortable day with highs in the mid to upper 70s; just prepare for a breezy day with a few clouds mixing in at times.
Once our reinforcing shot of cool air arrives Wednesday night, the stage will be set for a pretty refreshing and delightful Thanksgiving Day. It will be one of those days when you open the windows and take in the cool fresh air. Daytime temperatures should only reach the mid 70s, and humidity levels will also be very low.
You may want to close the windows Thursday and Friday morning, however, because temperatures will be a little on the chilly side at night and early in the morning. Temperatures on Thanksgiving morning will start out in the low to mid 50s, and temperatures early Friday will be a few notches cooler as many places get down to the low 50s and upper 40s.
Black Friday is look bright and sunny. Daytimes highs will reach the mid 70s, and we won't have to deal with any rain.
The beautiful weather will even carry over into the upcoming weekend. Daytime highs Saturday and Sunday should reach the upper 70s, and for the most part, we'll enjoy sunny, blue skies.

"The judge had requested that the parties get together one last time. we are happy to do that. We are always willing to explore any possibility of saving the more than 18000 jobs that are at stake but we certainly can't speculate about the chances of reaching a breakthrough."
BUT LOCAL BAKERS UNION MEMBERS CONTINUE TO PICKET OUTSIDE THE BILLINGS PLANT AS HOSTESS' FATE HANGS IN THE BALANCE.
"There's not much we can do here but maintain our picket line and let the lawyers do what they need to do in the court."
MEMBERS HERE STILL WANT THE COMPANY TO LIQUIDATE. THEY SAY NEW MANAGEMENT IS NEEDED TO CREATE A STABLE BUSINESS.
"There's people out there willing to buy already. They're making themselves noticed - known- already. So if those people can get back in here and buy right away a lot of these plants can be turned around and run right away."
IF THOSE TALKS AREN'T SUCCESSFUL.THE COMPANY PLANS TO GO BACK TO BANKRUPTCY COURT. AND IF THE COMPANY LIQUIDATES.THE PROCESS COULD TAKE A WHILE.
"The actual shutting down of the operations, that part does not take as long, that's days or weeks, then the marketing of the assets some of which we believe have a lot of value including the brands, you know, that could take a longer period of time."
AS OF NOW.THERE ARE COMPANIES INTERESTED IN THE COMPANY'S ASSETS, BUT BECKER WOULD NOT GIVE ANY SPECIFICS. ONLY TIME WILL TELL WHAT THE FATE OF AMERICA'S ICONIC JUNK FOOD WILL BE.

--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS --
"Meow. meow. Hear it?"
THAT'S A KITTEN, STUCK INSIDE THE ABRAHAM LINCOLN STATUE AT THE PRESIDENT'S HALL OF FAME IN CLERMONT. LISTEN.
"Meow. meow."
"Oh my gosh, it is so small."
DANIEL DAVIS, WITH THE HUMANE SOCIETY SAYS THE KITTEN HAS BEEN TRAPPED FOR THREE DAYS.
"How do you think it got in, sir?"
"I have no idea. Someone says there is a hole up on top there. I haven't been able to get up on top. I don't see how a little kitten, a three week old kitten could have gotten up there. It couldn't have crawled there."
OVER TIME THE KITTEN'S CRIES FOR HELP HAVE BECOME MORE AND MORE FAINT. THE GOAL WAS TO DRILL A HOLE TO SAVE THE CAT AND KEEP THE HAND-MADE STATUE STANDING.
THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DRILLED A HOLE AT THE TOP OF THE STATUE, AND FIREFIGHTER ROBERT SEIGWORTH LOWERED HIMSELF INSIDE TO MAKE THE RESCUE.
CHEERS. THEN TEARS, AS THE CAT WAS BROUGHT INTO THE LIGHT.
"It's just part of the job. It feels good, man."
"His gums look good. He is going to have a nice Thanksgiving now."
FITTINGLY THE CAT WILL BE NAMED ABE. AND JOHN ZWEIFEL, THE CURATOR OF THE MUSEUM WHO MADE THIS STATUE, WANTS TO ADOPT ABE AND MAKE HIS NEW HOME THE PRESIDENT'S HALL OF FAME.
"So Abe looks good. Next stop the vet, right?"
"Next stop the vet, correct."
