Panther road kills is one of the leading causes of death for the animals. This year 23 panthers have died in swfl-- 15 were hit by cars.

I spoke to fwc biologists who tell me the uptick in road kills are in part due to the increasing panther population. They're asking drivers who are traveling through the state for the holidays to slow down and keep an eye out-- especially on roads surrounded by dense vegetation. Also watch out during dawn and dusk because that's the time when panthers are most likely on the move. Return to index of stories...

A ride home from the hardware store took an unexpected turn for 18 year old axel Marino. He says he tried to avoid hitting a car making a left hand turn on Alabama ave--he says he slammed on his brakes and his tires locked up. He skid 131 feet---but not before hitting these trees, this house and trailer---and also hitting his head against the windshield. The crash caused more than $20,000 worth of damage to this home. Fortunately the tenant who lives here wasn't home at the time of the crash. But as soon as he found out what happened, he rushed back and parked his truck out front and slept out here all night to make sure no one would steal anything because he's fallen victim to a burglary before.

FORECAST OPEN Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

TRANQUIL TRAVELS ON WEDNESDAY

The day before Thanksgiving can at times be a traveling nightmare, but not this year. As we head into Thanksgiving eve much of the nation looks quiet. Of course that's good news because I know many of you will be heading out to feast and give thanks.

The one exception will be across the Pacific Northwest. If your travels take you to the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, or Montana check before you head out. Again, the rest of the nation will be just peachy.

In fact, as you begin preparing for your meal mother-nature will begin serving something of her own for us in southwest Florida - nice, crisp autumn air.

Why?

A series of cold fronts will roll through the south, and behind each front lays a touch of refreshing air. Oh, and these will be dry fronts so you need not to worry about rain for the next seven days!

Wednesday, Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, and the holiday weekend will all be dry. We'll even pull out the sun!

Trust me, you'll not only see the change behind each front, but you'll feel it, too. Temperatures will be in the lower 50s during the mornings, and then they'll rebound to the low 70s for daytime highs. Return to index of stories...

HUNDREDS CAME TO PAY THEIR RESPECTS TO JOHN AND JENNIFER LONGWORTH, THE COUPLE KILLED IN A NOVEMBER 10TH EXPLOSION THAT DESTROYED FIVE HOMES AND DAMAGED DOZENS.

THE LONGWORTHS, BOTH IN THEIR MID-THIRTIES, LIVED NEXT DOOR TO THE HOUSE THAT INVESTIGATORS BELIEVE WAS THE CENTER OF THE EXPLOSION. LATE MONDAY, CITY OFFICIALS MADE A STARTLING ANNOUNCEMENT.

sot, Gary, presser

at this time we are here to inform you that we are turning this into a criminal homicide investigation.

THE LONGWORTHS LIVED NEXT DOOR TO A HOUSE CO-OWNED BY JOHN SHIRLEY AND HIS EX-WIFE MONSERRATE SHIRLEY. ACCORDING TO THE ASSOCIATED PRESS,

MONSERRATE SAID HER BOYFRIEND HAD RECENTLY REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT ON A

MALFUNCTIONING FURNACE AT THE HOUSE. SHE AND HER BOYFRIEND WERE NOT AT HOME AT THE TIME OF THE BLAST.

LATE MONDAY NIGHT, THE COUPLE'S ATTORNEY RELEASED A STATEMENT WHICH READ, IN PART,

Monserrate Shirley and Mark Leonard watched in bewilderment the news report that the authorities are now treating the investigation as a criminal investigation as well as a causation search. The two remain horrified at the tragic events, destruction, and loss of lives that occurred. They have cooperated fully with various investigators and agencies on multiple occasions and have answered each and every question including speculation as to whether they may have been targeted by anyone.

DR. HAROLD TSAI/UROLOGIST

2:54 It is the muscles, especially laxity in the muscles. The pelvic floor muscles either get stretched out or weakened through time. And the bladder can certainly drop.

THOSE PELVIC FLOOR MUSCLES SUPPORT THE UTERUS, BLADDER, SMALL INTESTINE AND RECTUM. STRENGTHENING THEM CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GETTING TO THE BATHROOM OR NOT. FOR YEARS WOMEN HAVE BEEN TOLD TO USE KEGEL EXERCISES. BUT IT'S EASIER SAID THAN DONE.

FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

A canopy of low clouds will make for a pretty cloudy start to our Tuesday morning, but these clouds should begin to break up some by midday and through the afternoon.

While the clouds stick around this morning, temperatures will be quite cool and slow to rise. Temperatures should hover around the mid to upper 50s through the first half of the morning before gradually climbing into the mid to upper 60s by midday.

Once the clouds break up this afternoon and sunshine starts mixing in, we'll start to warm up pretty quickly with daytime highs projected to reach the mid to upper 70s.

We'll keep a few patchy clouds in the forecast tonight, but we shouldn't be nearly as cloudy as last night. Meanwhile, temperatures will be on the cool side yet again as lows drop into the mid to upper 50s.

Wednesday will be another transition day across Southwest Florida as another cool, dry air mass begins to settle in. As this next batch of cool air starts to push our way, some clouds will likely stream overhead, making for a partly cloudy day. A strong northerly wind will also develop through the day with gusts probably getting as high as 20 mph. Overall, Wednesday should be a pretty comfortable day with highs in the mid to upper 70s; just prepare for a breezy day with a few clouds mixing in at times.

Once our reinforcing shot of cool air arrives Wednesday night, the stage will be set for a pretty refreshing and delightful Thanksgiving Day. It will be one of those days when you open the windows and take in the cool fresh air. Daytime temperatures should only reach the mid 70s, and humidity levels will also be very low.

You may want to close the windows Thursday and Friday morning, however, because temperatures will be a little on the chilly side at night and early in the morning. Temperatures on Thanksgiving morning will start out in the low to mid 50s, and temperatures early Friday will be a few notches cooler as many places get down to the low 50s and upper 40s.

Black Friday is look bright and sunny. Daytimes highs will reach the mid 70s, and we won't have to deal with any rain.

The beautiful weather will even carry over into the upcoming weekend. Daytime highs Saturday and Sunday should reach the upper 70s, and for the most part, we'll enjoy sunny, blue skies. Return to index of stories...

FEMALE VIAGRA-PKG

TO PARAPHRASE WHAT THE ROLLING STONES SO FAMOUSLY COMPLAINED ABOUT -- MILLIONS OF WOMEN CAN'T GET ULTIMATE SATISFACTION IN THE BEDROOM. EVEN THOUGH THEY TRY. AND THEY TRY. AND THEY TRY.

"Once they've lost it, they're tremendously frustrated and distressed."

AT LEAST 5-PERCENT OF ALL WOMEN SUFFER FROM A DISORDER IN WHICH THEY CAN NO LONGER REACH THE PEAK OF THEIR SEXUAL EXPERIENCES.

ENTER DR. SHERYL KINGSBERG AT U-H CASE MEDICAL CENTER IN CLEVELAND. SHE'S LEADING A CLINICAL TRIAL OF A POTENTIAL TREATMENT.

"TEFINA" IS A NASAL GEL THAT DELIVERS A DOSE OF TESTOSTERONE DIRECTLY TO THE BRAIN.

"This allows for a woman who's taking it to have a response within 30 minutes. And it clears out of her system within 24 hours."

DOCTORS SAY THERE ARE NO HORMONAL SIDE EFFECTS, LIKE HAIR GROWTH OR A DEEPENED VOICE.

MEDICATIONS LIKE VIAGRA TO TREAT ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION IN MEN HAVE BEEN ON THE MARKET FOR 14 YEARS -- GENERATING BILLIONS IN SALES.

BUT NO SIMILAR DRUGS ARE APPROVED TO TREAT WOMEN - EVEN THOUGH NEARLY HALF SUFFER FROM SOME FORM OF SEXUAL PROBLEM.

"Finally, we're catching up a little and culture is supporting the idea that women deserve treatment."

. POTENTIALLY GIVING WOMEN THE LIFT IN LIBIDO THEY SO DESPERATELY DESIRE.
