Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Another shot of cool, dry air is on the way to Southwest Florida today, and this cool, refreshing weather will last right through Thanksgiving and into the upcoming weekend.
The weather system bringing this next batch of cool air will likely stir up a few clouds at times today, but we we'll still see a fair amount of sunshine.
There's just not enough moisture around to produce any rain, so rain prospects will be incredibly low.
As the cool air comes flowing into Southwest Florida this afternoon, our daytime temperature shouldn't get beyond the mid to upper 70s. A brisk northerly wind will even make the air feel a little chilly at times with wind speeds ranging from 10-20 mph.
A chill returns to the air tonight as temperatures dip into the low to mid 50s with a mostly clear sky. Inland locations that tend to get cooler could see some 40s by early Thanksgiving morning.
All indications point to Thanksgiving being a very delightful day across Southwest Florida. We'll see lots of sunshine, low humidity, a cool north wind, and highs in the mid 70s.
The forecast is even looking bright and sunny for Black Friday, but If you plan on being out early to do some shopping, prepare for a chilly morning as lows dip back down into the low 50s and upper 40s. Once the sun is out for a while, temperatures Friday afternoon will warm into the mid 70s.
The upcoming weekend is shaping up to be a dandy as well. Look for a mostly sunny sky Saturday with daytime highs staying in the mid to upper 70s. By Saturday afternoon, another reinforcing shot of cool air will push down into Southwest Florida, which will make for another cool night Saturday. Overnight lows will get back down into the low 50s and perhaps upper 40s by early Sunday.
Sunday will be very refreshing, too, with highs in the mid to upper 70s along with a partly cloudy sky.
Enjoy the beautiful weather and the upcoming holiday!

Weather Trends

STATE LAWMAKERS DON'T MEET UNTIL MARCH.
BUT SENATOR NANCY DETERT HOPES TO OPEN MORE EYES BY INTRODUCING A BILL THAT MAKES TEXTING AND DRIVING A SECONDARY OFFENSE.
THE FINE WOULD BE 30 DOLLARS.
57:38 it would be a big help for the most part - 50 percent of crashes occur when someone is distracted by a phone or another device
BUT DETERT'S PROPOSAL WOULD ONLY ALLOW OFFICERS TO TICKET DRIVERS IF THEY WERE PULLED OVER FOR ANOTHER TRAFFIC VIOLATION.

BUT CALLS THIS BILL. A START.
7:04 we dont want it to be a slap on the wrist we would prefer it to be a hefty fine so that it sends a message that this behavior is in fact dangerous.:13
