THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
The stage is set for another delightful weekend of weather across Southwest Florida with sunshine and highs in the mid 70, but we are tracking a weather system today that will have a subtle influence on Sundays' weather.
A cool front is actually set to arrive later today, but this front will be moving through a moisture-starved atmosphere, so even a few clouds will be hard to muster up. In fact, all this front will manage to do is replenish the cool air we already have in place, making for a slightly cooler Sunday.
For Saturday, we'll enjoy a mainly sunny blue sky, low humidity, and a cool northerly breeze. After starting with chilly morning temperatures in the upper 40s and lower 50s, we'll warm to the mid to upper 70s for our daytime highs. We may notice a few passing clouds this afternoon as the cool front passes through, but sunshine will prevail. Winds will be a little gusty this afternoon with wind speeds averaging from 5-15 mph.
Tonight will be another pretty chilly one as lows cool back into the low 50s; some 40s will certainly be achieved deeper inland across the more rural settings. Tonight's chilly weather will be accompanied by a clear sky and light wind.
The hits just keep on coming for us on Sunday. After a cool, crisp start in the morning, our sky will stay mainly sunny through the day with afternoon temperatures warming into the mid 70s. Humidity will also be dropping a bit more tomorrow in the wake of Saturday's cool front, so the air will feel very dry. Winds won't be nearly as breezy Sunday as high pressure settles overhead, keeping our winds out of the north northeast between 5-10 mph.
The story heading into next week will be warming temperatures through Wednesday as our humidity levels increase. Daytime highs by Monday will rebound close to 80, and temperatures will continue to get slightly warmer Tuesday and Wednesday as afternoon highs get to 82. Some patchy clouds will develop during the afternoon, but overall, we'll have lots of sunshine.
Another weak cool front will slide through Southwest Florida Wednesday, bringing a very slight chance of a passing sprinkle and a few clouds. We'll notice a modest cool down by Thursday as highs warm to the upper 70s and lows cool to the upper 50s late next week.

PKG:
IN ORDER TO PERFORM MANY OF THE MOST COMMON CARDIAC PROCEDURES, DOCTORS NEED TO ACCESS THE HEART ARTERIES. WHETHER THEY'RE TAKING PICTURES, INFLATING AN ANGIOPLASTY OR PLACING A STENT, CARDIOLOGISTS ARE LOOKING FOR BETTER WAYS TO GAIN ACCESS.
DR. ROBERT GROHOWSKI/CARDIOLOGIST
RUNS:
3:14 Angioplasties and stents are both completed through long tubes called catheters, that are typically inserted into an artery either around the crease of the groin or in the arm or now we use the wrist arteries as well.
AMY OSHIER/REPORTING
RUNS:
For years, the gold standard in this country, has been to go through the groin. But new figures show the number of wrist procedures, or the 'transradial' approach is gaining speed. increasing five-fold.
DR. ROBERT GROHOWSKI/CARDIOLOGIST
RUNS:
2:14 The advantage is, the wrist can be bandaged and not limit your walking or activity for that period of time, up to a week after the procedure.
RECOVERY FROM A WRIST PROCEDURE IS SIMPLER FOR PATIENTS, WHO AREN'T FORCED TO LIE FLAT FOR HOURS IN ORDER TO PREVENT COMPLICATIONS. SOME PEOPLE GO HOME THE SAME DAY. THIS PROCEDURE IS STILL CUTTING EDGE FOR MANY DOCTORS.
DR. ROBERT GROHOWSKI/CARDIOLOGIST
RUNS:
2:34 It's a trickier procedure because the artery is much smaller and it affects our ability to do some of the work that we need to do, but I think in the future we'll see more and more procedures done in that manner.
IT'S IMPORTANT TO CONSULT WITH YOUR DOCTOR TO DISCUSS WHICH TECHNIQUE THEY'RE MOST COMFORTABLE WITH. PATIENTS LOOKING FOR A LESS INVASIVE APPROACH FOR THEIR HEART PROCEDURE MAY FIND IT'S ALL IN THE WRIST. FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM.

TENSE AND VERY SECRETIVE- TRANSMISSIONS, AS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER CARL VINSON WAITS FOR THE BODY OF OSAMA BIN LADEN.
IT'S MAY 2nd, 2011.
THE AL QAEDA LEADER'S JUST BEEN KILLED BY NAVY SEALS.
IN E-MAILS, TWO U-S NAVY ADMIRALS USE CODE-WORDS TO DESCRIBE BIN LADEN.
THE COMMANDER OF THE CARRIER STRIKE-GROUP SAYS "FED-EX DELIVERED THE PACKAGE. BOTH TRUCKS ARE SAFELY EN ROUTE HOME BASE".
THE E-MAILS, HEAVILY-REDACTED, HAVE JUST BEEN RELEASED BY THE DEFENSE DEPARTMENT-- RESPONDING TO A 'FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT' LAWSUIT BY THE GROUP JUDICIAL WATCH.
A FEW DAYS EARLIER- THAT STRIKE-GROUP COMMANDER HAD ASKED ANOTHER OFFICER: "DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL RELIGIOUS/CEREMONIAL PREPARATIONS?"
AFTER BIN LADEN'S BURIED AT SEA, AN ADMIRAL DESCRIBES THE SCENE:
"TRADITIONAL PROCEDURES FOR ISLAMIC BURIAL WAS FOLLOWED. THE DECEASED'S BODY WAS WASHED THEN PLACED IN A WHITE SHEET. THE BODY WAS PLACED IN A WEIGHTED BAG. A MILITARY OFFICER READ PREPARED RELIGIOUS REMARKS, WHICH WERE TRANSLATED INTO ARABIC BY A NATIVE SPEAKER. AFTER THE WORDS WERE COMPLETE, THE BODY WAS PLACED ON A PREPARED FLAT BOARD, TIPPED UP, WHEREUPON THE DECEASED'S BODY SLID INTO THE SEA."
ACCORDING TO THE E-MAILS, THERE AREN'T MANY WITNESSES.
IN RESPONSE TO THE QUESTION "ANY SAILORS WATCH THE BURIAL?"
ONE E-MAIL SAYS "ONLY A SMALL GROUP OF THE LEADERSHIP WAS INFORMED-- LESS THAN A DOZEN TOTAL."
THE HEADING ON ANOTHER SAYS "BURIAL NO SAILORS WATCHED".
AND ANOTHER INDICATION OF THE SECRECY OF THAT PART OF THE MISSION: AN E-MAIL FROM A TOP ADMIRAL TO JOINT CHIEFS CHAIRMAN MICHAEL MULLEN: "THE PAUCITY OF DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE IN OUR POSSESSION IS A REFLECTION OF THE EMPHASIS PLACED UPON OPERATIONAL SECURITY."

FORECAST OPEN
Return to index of stories...

INSIDE DAVID PETRAEUS' COMMAND CENTER IN AFGHANISTAN-- THE BRIEFINGS REGULARLY INCLUDED CLASSIFIED INFORMATION. DID SOME OF THAT INFORMATION MAKE ITS WAY TO PAULA BROADWELL, HIS BIOGRAPHER AT THE TIME?
"She would have received material from a number of sources, a number of individuals."
LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS CONFIRM TO CNN CONTRIBUTOR TOM FUENTES THAT INVESTIGATORS ARE LOOKING AT WHETHER BROADWELL-- WHO LATER HAD AN ADULTEROUS AFFAIR WITH PETRAEUS-- WAS GIVEN CLASSIFIED MATERIAL BY PETRAEUS AIDES BECAUSE THEY MAY HAVE THOUGHT PETRAEUS WANTED HER TO HAVE IT, AS SHE WAS IN AFGHANISTAN GATHERING MATERIAL FOR HER BOOK 'ALL IN,' A BIOGRAPHY ON THE FOUR-STAR. THE WASHINGTON POST HAD FIRST REPORTED THE DETAILS ABOUT THE PETRAEUS AIDES. PETRAEUS HAS AUTHORIZED FORMER AIDES AND FRIENDS TO TELL REPORTERS HE PERSONALLY NEVER GAVE BROADWELL CLASSIFIED INFORMATION. GOVERNMENT SOURCES HAVE TOLD CNN BROADWELL HAD MATERIAL SUCH AS POWER POINT PRESENTATIONS AND SCHEDULES. BUT FUENTES SAYS WHILE BROADWELL WOULD HAVE GOTTEN HER RESEARCH MATERIAL FROM A LOT OF SOURCES, BE CAREFUL ABOUT JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS.
"To say that -- the implication that the FBI is looking at someone makes it sound like they're the subject of a criminal investigation. And right now that part of it is still in the 'let's determine how this material was provided, who gave it and under what circumstances.'"
EVEN IF THE INFORMATION THE FBI REMOVED FROM BROADWELL'S HOME WAS NOT A RISK TO NATIONAL SECURITY, SHE AND WHOEVER GAVE IT TO HER WILL HAVE PLENTY TO ANSWER FOR.
"The military and the rest of the intelligence community agencies don't want every individual on their own to be able to determine what's sensitive and what isn't."

THERE ARE VERY STRICT RULES IN THE MILITARY ABOUT THE HANDLING AND POSSESSION OF ANY CLASSIFIED MATERIAL.
BROADWELL MAY STILL HAVE TO EXPLAIN WHY SHE HAD IT, AND WHAT IT WAS DOING IN HER HOUSE.
