Jose Puentes, Immokalee Parent "He wasn't even born yet, the doctor diagnosed him with an enlarged kidney so for about 6 months we had to go to the doctor in and out."

JOSE PUENTES' THREE YEAR-OLD SON HAS BEEN SICK HIS WHOLE LIFE.

Jose "He's always going to the hospital."

WHILE HAVING A SICK CHILD ISN'T EASY. HAVING A SICK KID IN EASTERN COLLIER COUNTY IS EVEN MORE OF A CHALLENGE.

STU; "For people in Immokalee, Golden Gate Estates and Ave Maria, there's no hospital. They have to go to either Fort Myers, Lehigh or Naples, taking an hour to an hour and a half to get there."

Jose "You're tired, you just got out of work and you have to drive an hour and a half just to go to the hospital."

FRANCISCA CURIEL WORKS FOR REAL LANDS CHRISTIAN MIGRANT ASSOCIATION, A GROUP THAT HELPS THE MIGRANT POOR.

MANY OF THE PEOPLE SHE SEES DON'T HAVE CARS OF THEIR OWN.

SHE SAYS PEOPLE HAVE FOUND A WAY TO MAKE MONEY FROM THE POOR BY GIVING RIDES TO THE HOSPITAL.

Francisca "Those people that do transport are charging them about 120 and that's just from here to Lehigh, Fort Myers or Naples which is much shorter."

Francisca "She had to pay between 60 and 120 she said."

THIS WOMAN, A MIGRANT WORKER AND MOTHER OF 4 HAS PAID WELL OVER A HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR RIDES TO THE ER.

SO WHILE IT'S HARD FOR PEOPLE LIKE JOSE WHO DRIVE THEMSELVES, HE FEELS EVEN WORSE FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T.

Jose "It is a hassle, for the people who don't have transportation, so I just feel bad for them." Return to index of stories...

POWERBALL OFFICIALS SAY THERE WERE TWO TICKETS WITH THE WINNING NUMBERS OF. 5-16-22-23-29 WITH A POWERBALL OF 6.

.ONE SOLD IN MISSOURI. THE OTHER IN ARIZONA. ALTHOUGH THE EXACT LOCATIONS HAVEN'T BEEN REVEALED YET. AND THE WINNERS HAVEN'T COME FORWARD.

.BUT WHEN THEY DO, THEY'LL SPLIT THE 587-MILLION-DOLLAR JACKPOT.

"I'm feeling it"

THIS POWERBALL ALSO MADE DOZENS OF OTHERS MILLIONAIRES, TOO. WHICH IS WHY OFFICIALS ARE ADVISING 'DON'T TEAR UP YOUR TICKET JUST YET'

"We had actually 58 people that matched all five of the white balls for one million dollars in cash. So, I wouldn't want to be tearing anything up until you knew for sure what you had for a winner"

IN ADDITION, THERE WERE EIGHT TWO-MILLION DOLLAR WINNING TICKETS DRAWN.

CHRIS THANKS.

WHAT'S ON THE MENU?

AS YOU ARE ENJOYING YOUR LUNCH - TODAY IN WASHINGTON, THE PRESIDENT WILL BE WELCOMING MITT ROMNEY TO THE WHITE HOUSE - FOR A WORKING LUNCH DATE.

IT'S THEIR FIRST MEETING SINCE THE ELECTION.

HERE'S CHUCK TODD WITH WHAT'S EXPECTED. Return to index of stories...

OBAMA & ROMNEY-TRX PKG

The last time President Obama and Mitt Romney came face to face, they were locked in a bitter fight for the presidency.

Today, they'll try to bury the hatchet, as Mr. Obama fulfills his promise to engage with Romney -- hosting him for a one-on-one lunch at the White House. The president's spokesman was careful, though, to manage expectations.

SOT:

IT'S A PRIVATE LUNCH. ONLY THE TWO MEN WILL BE IN THE ROOM. AND I'M SURE IT WILL BE A USEFUL DISCUSSION.

Meanwhile, with the so-called "fiscal cliff" looming, Mr. Obama sends his chief negotiator, Treasury Sec. Tim Geithner, to Capitol Hill today for individual meetings with each member of the congressional leadership including Speaker Boehner.

Wednesday, Mr. Obama brought back a campaign atmosphere, surrounding himself with what he called "average middle class families" to ramp up pressure on Republicans.

SOT:

IF CONGRESS DOES NOTHING, EVERY FAMILY IN AMERICA WILL SEE THEIR TAXES AUTOMATICALLY GO UP AT THE BEGINNING OF NEXT YEAR.

The president wants Congress to extend the Bush tax rates for those making less than $250,000, but would let taxes go up for everyone else. And he'll take that message on the road Friday to Pennsylvania.

Not to be outdone on the P.R. front, House Republicans hosted a group of nervous business leaders who have signed on to a campaign called "Fix the debt," who want big spending cuts to supplement the tax hikes.

SOT:

WE'VE PUT REVENUE ON THE TABLE AS LONG AS IT IS ACCOMPANIED BY SERIOUS SPENDING CUTS TO AVERT THIS CRISIS.

NATSOT

And as the president gets set to change up his Cabinet, he took time out of Wednesday's Cabinet meeting to defend the woman who could be his next Secretary of State.

SOT:

SUSAN RICE IS EXTRAORDINARY. COULDN'T BE PROUDER OF THE JOB SHE'S DONE AS US REP. 1/8APPLAUSE 3/8

Following that vote of confidence for Rice, the outgoing secretary of state Hillary Clinton also spoke out.

SOT:

SUSAN RICE HAS DONE A GREAT JOB AS OUR AMBASSADOR TO THE UNITED NATIONS.

Still, Rice had to spend another day on Capitol Hill, discussing Benghazi with skeptical Senate Republicans.

SOT:

REALIZE THAT ALL OF US HERE HOLD THE SECRETARY OF STATE TO A VERY DIFFERENT STANDARD THAN MOST CABINET MEMBERS." Return to index of stories...

Kim SOT: I ordered this package online and then it never showed up after about a week and a half the package just never showed up.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

For the second day in a row, clouds will be pretty stubborn this morning, and most of us will start the day with a canopy of low clouds filtering the sun.

The cloud cover will also work to limit heating during the first half of the morning, so conditions will be rather cool to start the day with temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

In conjunction with the cooler temperatures, a swift wind out of the east will bring an added chill to the air this morning, and we'll continue to see a stiff breeze through the day with gusts reaching 20 mph.

As we progress through the mid to late morning, the blanket of low clouds should begin to break, allowing for a few rays of sun to penetrate to the surface. This process should continue gradually through the afternoon, giving us a mix of sun and clouds for the second half of the day.

After this morning's somewhat chilly start, temperatures should warm quickly into the upper 70s this afternoon once the clouds break up.

Rain prospect will continue to stay low, but one or two sprinkles can't be ruled out, particularly father south close to Naples, Marco Island, and Everglades City.

Look for a partly cloudy sky tonight with temperatures in the low 60s across the urban corridor and mid to upper 50s over the interior.

Friday will likely offer up another day of more clouds than sun along with a slim chance of a sprinkle or two. Winds will stay very breezy, and temperatures will warm to 80 during the afternoon.

Sunshine will be on the increase as we head into the weekend, but we should also see our fair share of afternoon clouds riding in on a strong easterly breeze.

Overall, however, it's looking like a pleasant weekend with daytime highs close to 80 and morning lows around 60. Return to index of stories...

IS THAT THE SOUND OF MONEY BEING SUCKED FROM WALLETS?

It's priced at $7 cup.

Hi there. welcome to Starbucks. What can we get started for you?

HOW ABOUT A BANK SO WE CAN AFFORD THE NEW COFFEE MADE FROM RARE COSTA RICAN BEANS CALLED.

Finca Palmelera

ACTUALLY $7 IS FOR THE MEDIUM, THE GRANDE. YOU COULD SKIMP AND FOR $6 GET A SMALL.

IT WAS INTRODUCED AT 46 STARBUCKS STORES IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST.

Wow.

Is that something you would buy?

No, not at all

BUT HOLD THE OUTRAGE. FOR SOME PEOPLE, COFFEE TASTING IS LIKE WINE TASTING.

PEOPLE LIKE MELODY OVERTON WHO RUNS A FAN SITE FOR STARBUCKS ENTHUSIASTS, WHERE SOME WERE GIDDY OVER THE PROSPECT OF SAMPLING A RARE COFFEE. MELODY ATTENDED A SPECIAL TASTING.

I noticed all of these flavors and how it has so much going on in a single cup of coffee. and I'm like "Oh, I like this."

SO WHAT'S IT TASTE LIKE?

Fruity, juicy, clean. Definitely a little pineapple.

THIS TYPE IS EXPENSIVE BECAUSE IT GROWS ONLY AT HIGH ALTITUDES AND THERE ARE FEWER CHERRIES PER TREE.

And let the Finca Palmilera coffee challenge begin.

JIMMY KIMMEL'S STAFF ASKED FOLKS IF THEY COULD PICK THE NEW SUPER PREMIUM STARBUCKS COFFEE.

I want to say this one cause more of a richer taste.

I should mention we didn't bother to get $7 coffee we got a pot of regular coffee and poured the exact same coffee in both cups.

Ok this is a smoother flavor the other one slightly bitter.

I believe this one. it just tastes richer.

It kind of has beany taste. tastes like the bean.

I would put 2 to 3 dollars on this cup preferably over second cup. it all tastes the same, tastes the same laughter

"Basically our opening line was we're walking around with Boobies Rock! It's a breast cancer awareness organization. Would you guys like to make a donation to the cause?"

THOSE DONATIONS ADDED UP QUICKLY.

"I think they thought pretty much what we thought, that they were donating money to a good cause."

WHILE THE WORDS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS ARE PLASTERED ALL OVER THE BOOBIES ROCK WEBSITE, IT IS NOT A CHARITY.

THE OWNER, ADAM SHRYOCK IS A 33-YEAR-OLD ENTREPRENEUR WHO LIVES IN A LARGE HOME IN CASTLE ROCK. HE SAYS BOOBIES ROCK MERCHANDISE IS SOLD IN AT LEAST 15 CITIES NATIONWIDE. IN TWO YEARS, THE COMPANY HAS MADE ABOUT $2 MILLION DOLLARS SELLING BREAST CANCER THEMED T-SHIRTS AND OTHER ITEMS.

SHRYOCK SAYS HIS COMPANY HAS DONATED ABOUT $325,000 TO 8 CHARITIES. THAT FIGURE INCLUDES A QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS TO SETTLE A TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT LAWSUIT. ONE CHARITY RECEIVED $50,000 WHILE OTHERS GOT AS LITTLE AS $100 - ALL OF IT COLLECTED IN THE NAME OF BREAST CANCER AWARENESS.

RACHEL MCNEILL HAS HER STORY. Return to index of stories...

MIRACLE HEART BABY-PKG

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME ASHLEY CARDENAS LAID EYES ON HER BABY GIRL AUDRINA. AFTER A SIX HOUR SURGERY TO SAVE HER LIFE.

"It's amazing you know every day I thank god you know for her, for her being here."

AT 16 WEEKS GESTATION. AUDRINA WAS DIAGNOSED WITH ECTOPIA CARDIS. YOU CAN SEE IN THIS M-R-I. HER HANDS CIRCLING HER TINY HEART WHICH WAS OUTSIDE OF HER BODY.

"It's really strange I have to say and I've looked at a lot of hearts!"

ASHLEY WAS REFERRED TO TEXAS CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL WHERE A TEAM OF SPECIALISTS CAME UP WITH A PLAN TO SAVE HER BABY.

BORN VIA C-SECTION OCTOBER SIXTEENTH. AUDRINA WAS IMMEDIATELY RUSHED INTO SURGERY. HERE YOU SEE HER TINY HEART BEATING OUTSIDE HER CHEST.

"So actually the tip of the heart is turned up it's looking this way so what you're actually seeing is about a third of each ventricle is outside where is a significant part of the heart."

FIVE WEEKS AFTER SURGERY. AUDRINA IS RECOVERING IN THE NICU. GETTING STRONGER EVERY DAY. THE LONGEST LIVING BABY IN TEXAS TO HAVE BEEN BORN WITH THIS RARE CONDITION.

"Right now what we have over the heart is skin and a bit of muscle so she doesn't have a

breast plate like we have so someday we're going to have to do an operation to provide a more durable protector over the heart because she's going to want to do the things that children do.

"She's made it this far and I know within time just gotta be patient and within time she'll be home she'll be home with our family." Return to index of stories...

-REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS --

A FEW FOLKS ARE WAKING UP A LOT RICHER TODAY. TWO WINNING TICKETS FOR THE RECORD-BREAKING POWERBALL JACKPOT WERE SOLD -- ONE IN ARIZONA AND ONE IN MISSOURI. THE SECOND-BIGGEST JACKPOT IN U-S HISTORY HAD PEOPLE GOING A BIT CRAZY.

THEY WAITED IN LONG LINES FOR A CHANCE TO CASH IN BIG-TIME.

THEY WERE DREAMING BIG.

Daydreaming, drive dreaming, night dreaming, yes. 500 million is a lot of dreaming.

Half a billion dollars I have no idea it's just way beyond my comprehension. Take a trip down to Myrtle Beach somewhere. I have grandkids so I'd make sure

BUT, NOT EVERYONE CAUGHT THE FEVER.

SYNDICATED RADIO HOST AND AUTHOR DAVE RAMSEY PREFERS THE OLD FASHIONED WAY OF BUILDING WEALTH.

Living frugally, working hard, coming up with an idea, going to work early, leaving late, saving money not spending everything you make.

THE ODDS OF WINNING ARE ABOUT ONE IN 175-MILLION BUT THAT DIDN'T STOP MIKE COPPOLA FROM BUYING A TICKET -- AND THINKING ABOUT WHAT HE'LL DO IF HIS POWERBALL PIPE-DREAM BECOMES REALITY.

You got family, charity, quit my job.

COPPOLA SAYS IT WAS WORTH A SHOT BECAUSE AFTER ALL -- YOU CAN'T WIN IF YOU DON'T PLAY.
