FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Our rain chances are now looking slightly more promising by midweek due to a disturbance sitting over the Deep South.

We'll start the day with a few patchy clouds with a few peaks of sunshine we go through the morning and afternoon. Our temperatures will still run a few degrees above average with highs aimed at the low 80s inland and upper 70s along the coast.

The first side effect we'll notice from this disturbance will be an increase in cloud cover from Wednesday afternoon through the first part of Thursday.

The disturbance should swing across Southwest Florida late Wednesday into Thursday morning, and as it does so, we may see some widely scattered showers Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. Don't get too excited about our rain prospects, however, as these showers should stay pretty isolated and "hit or miss."

A warm breeze out of the east will keep winds up to 5-15 mph during the day, but winds won't be quite as gusty as in previous days.

Once the disturbance exits Thursday afternoon, we'll get back to seeing mostly sunny and dry weather with daytime highs close to 80 and overnight temperatures dipping down to 60.

The upcoming weekend is looking very nice with partly cloudy skies and warmer than normal temperatures. We've seen some indications Saturday and Sunday might offer up a few more showers, so we'll continue monitoring this possibility over the next couple days. Return to index of stories...

WITH THREE TAPS ON YOUR PHONE, YOU CAN BE PART OF THE HOTTEST PHOTO-SHARING APP TODAY: SNAPCHAT. AND WHAT MAKES THIS APP SO DIFFERENT IS THAT IT PROMISES THAT YOUR PHOTOS WILL DISAPPEAR FROM CYBERSPACE. AFTER JUST TEN SECONDS.

BUT WITH MOST USERS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 13 TO 24 AND SNAPCHAT'S CARTOON GHOST LOGO AND SELF-DESCRIBED 'JUVENILE' INTERFACE, EXPERTS CAUTION THAT KIDS COULD BE USING THe APP IN A MUCH MORE ADULT WAY.

SOT FROM Liz Gumbinner,

i think this kind of an app really gives a false sense of security to teens because there's something very alluring about being able to take risks and do things where there will be no evidence afterwards

THOSE RISKS COULD INCLUDE SEXTING. SENDING EXPLICIT PHOTOS FROM A PHONE.

SEARCHING THE POPULAR SOCIAL MEDIA SITE TWITTER FOR THE TERM "SNAPCHAT" REVEALS NUMEROUS TWEETS FROM PEOPLE LOOKING TO 'SEXT' WITH THE HOT NEW APP.

ONE SAYS: "UM HIT ME UP WITH THE CLEAVAGE ON SNAPCHAT. GREATLY APPRECIATED."

ANOTHER: PRACTICE SAFE SEXTING, HASH-TAG SNAPCHAT

LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS WARN SNAPCHAT IS NOT FOOLPROOF.

Paul Murphy, Utah Attorney General's Spokesman

"you could take a second camera and take a picture of it, that person could take that image and then distribute it to millions of people worldwide in a matter of seconds."

IN A STATEMENT TO NBC NEWS, SNAPCHAT FOUNDER EVAN SPIEGEL SAID, IN PART:

"WE BUILT SNAPCHAT TO GIVE PEOPLE A FUN, EXPRESSIVE AND AUTHENTIC WAY TO HAVE CONVERSATIONS. IF A SNAPCHATTER EVER RECEIVES A SNAP FROM ONE OF THEIR FRIENDS THAT THEY FIND OFFENSIVE WE RECOMMEND TAKING A SCREENSHOT, BLOCKING AND REPORTING THE USER. WE'VE BEEN BLOWN AWAY BY THE ENTHUSIASM FOR THE APP FROM PEOPLE OF ALL AGES."

AS WITH ANY INTERNET RISK, EXPERTS SAY THE KEY FOR PARENTS IS TO COMMUNICATE.

A HOT CHILD REQUIRES A COOL PARENT. AN OLD SAYING THAT RINGS TRUE AMONG PEDIATRICIANS.

DR. NANCY WITHAM/PEDIATRICIAN

RUNS:

3:34 The first thing you need to do is look analytically the situation.

WHEN THE MERCURY RISES, MOTHER OF TWO MARLENE McCLEARY TRIES KEEP A LEVEL HEAD.

MARLENE McCLEARLY/MOM

RUNS:

1:36: As long as they stay low. Anything above 102.5 is usually a sign that I definitely need to take them to the doctor.

DESPITE MOMS AND DADS FEELING THE HEAT, NOT EVERY FEVER REQUIRES A DOCTOR VISIT.

DR. NANCY WITHAM/PEDIATRICIAN

RUNS:

02:24 We like to know about fevers over 103.5 to 104. Anything above that often can be associated with a more significant infections.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

Most fevers can be handled at home. That means navigating the world of over-the-counter medications. It's important to remember- never use aspirin and always use products that are made for children.

6:21 The dose for those medications is based on your children's weight and if you're not sure or if it says 'under the age of 2 please call a physician' please call your doctors office because we do have the dosage calculated, based on the weight.

DOCTORS RECOMMEND ACETAMINOPHEN PRODUCTS LIKE TYLENOL AND IBUPROFEN ONES LIKE MOTRIN. OR BOTH.

MARLENE McCLEARLY/MOM

RUNS:

:22: I usually give them Motrin more commonly and then I alternate it with Tylenol.

IT'S CALLED LAYERING. MOTRIN IS EFFECTIVE FOR 6-8 HOURS. TYLENOL IS EFFECTIVE FOR 4 HOURS. MANY PARENTS WILL OVERLAP THEM, BUT IS THAT SAFE?

DR. NANCY WITHAM/PEDIATRICIAN

RUNS:

9:22 They're chemically different enough that each can follow along with their own schedule. We know it's affective and actually slightly more affective to give both medications. So if you wanted to make a chart for yourself and do one of them every four hour schedule the other on every six hour schedule that's what many people do.

FEVER REDUCERS SHOULD DROP YOUR CHILDS TEMP A DEGREE OR TWO. BUT WON'T FIX THE UNDERLYING CAUSE. IF YOUR CHILD HAS ADDITIONAL SYMPTOMS THEY MAY NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR. FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM, I'M AMY OSHIER. Return to index of stories...

THE OFFICIAL WORD CAME IN A FLURRY ON MONDAY FROM ST. JAMES'S PALACE SAYING THE ROYAL FAMILY IS "DELIGHTED."

BUT WITH KATE STILL LESS THAN 12 WEEKS ALONG, ON MONDAY AFTERNOON WILL AND KATE DROVE THEMSELVES TO A CENTRAL LONDON HOSPITAL AFTER KATE BEGAN EXPERIENCING ACUTE MORNING SICKNESS.

MONDAY NIGHT, WILL WAS SEEN LEAVING THE HOSPITAL.

ACCORDING TO THE PALACE, THEY EXPECT HER TO STAY AT THE HOSPITAL FOR A FEW DAYS WITH A PERIOD OF REST AFTERWARDS.

She'll have a drip to replace fluids possibly some medication to stop nausea and vomiting and of course bed rest and that really helps quite a lot. So in most cases, it all settles within a few days or maximum a week."

FOR THE NATION, A ROYAL BABY ON THE WAY HAS BEEN THRILLING NEWS.EAGERLY ANTICIPATED EVER SINCE WILL AND KATE'S FAIRY TALE APRIL WEDDING.

"Meanwhile the headlines and the reporting is already rampant, with questions perhaps even could Kate be expecting twins?
