NOW THIS HEARTBROKEN COMMUNITY BEGINS A SEEMINGLY UNBEARABLE TASK. TODAY THE FIRST TWO. OF 20 YOUNG CHILDREN. WERE LAID TO REST.
SIX-YEAR-OLD NOAH POZNER - DESCRIBED AS "LARGER THAN LIFE" AND THE "LIGHT" OF HIS FAMILY. THAT INCLUDES A TWIN SISTER WHO ESCAPED THE GUNFIRE.
FAMILY MEMBERS SAY JACK PINTO - ALSO SIX - WAS A DETERMINED ATHLETE. AND AVID SPORTS FAN - A LOVE THAT HELPED TO SHAPE THIS CARD GIVEN TO FRIENDS AT HIS FUNERAL.
AS THE PAINFUL WORK OF BURYING THE VICTIMS BEGINS.
THE METICULOUS INVESTIGATION TO UNDERSTAND HOW. AND WHY. CONTINUES.
"The answers are for the poor victims, the families, the people of Connecticut that need to know and see a clear picture as to exactly what happened here."
POLICE SAY SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY WILL REMAIN A LOCKED-DOWN CRIME SCENE FOR MONTHS.
TODAY CREWS PULLED FURNITURE FROM THE UNAFFECTED CLASSROOMS, MOVING IT TO A SCHOOL IN A NEIGHBORING TOWN. THOUGH IT'S STILL NOT CLEAR WHEN IT MIGHT BE USED.
"Delayed until further notice --- developing a plan."
INVESTIGATORS ARE STILL GATHERING WHAT THEY CALL "SIGNIFICANT EVIDENCE." THEY WILL NOT DISCUSS SPECIFICALLY WHAT'S BEEN SEIZED - BUT THERE ARE REPORTS THE GUNMAN'S HOME COMPUTER MAY NOT REVEAL MUCH - IT WAS APPARENTLY SMASHED, AND TORN APART BEFORE THE KILLING SPREE.
"It's a very painstaking process in forensic science. It's going to take some time to do that."
AND IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME TO INTERVIEW THE MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED WITNESSES. INCLUDING AT SOME POINT THE CHILDREN WHO SURVIVED THE ATTACK.
"Very, very tender issue --- interview with the children."
ONE THAT CAN ONLY COME AFTER THE HEART WRENCHING PROCESS FOR THESE KIDS. AND THIS COMMUNITY.

1:09 shauna and micah, north port hs students
the last thing students at north port high school expected to see monday morning were police officers and bomb sniffing dogs roaming the hallways.
"i heard about it first thing when i came to school around 7:10." micah, nphs freshman
police say an anonymous person posted a bomb threat on a facebook page.
"it kind of alluded to the fact that they wanted to cause violence to the school, mentioning explosives." capt. anthony sirianni, nppd
immediately, the police department called in all available resources to investigate the crime.
instead of evacuating the school, district officials placed the north port high in a limited lockdown situation as officers checked out the threat.
"it's judgement call based on decades of experience." gary leatherman/sarasota county schools
district officials don't evacuate a school after every bomb threat because they think it would lead to more threats.
they work with law enforcement to check the credibility of the threat and go from there.
"it';s a very difficult dilemma for school officials to deal with." gary leatherman/sarasota county schools
after searching the school, authorities did not discover any explosives, but their investigation is far from over.
"obviously it's a criminal offense, we're going to investigate it as such and continue the investigation until the suspect or suspects are identified." capt. anthony sirianni, nppd
students wonder why someone would make this threat, especially with the tragedy in newtown heavy on everyone's mind.
"i thought it was really messed up bc why would you do that , talk about it or anything. just make up another lie, especially after a national tragedy." micah and shauna, nphs students
school will go on as scheduled tomorrow.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
RAIN AND COOLER WEATHER SOON
A weak cold front is pushing through the Southeast. It initiated some strong storms from Louisiana to Georgia yesterday, and its eyes are set on us. This is the first of two fronts that will bring us rain.
It'll start migrating across North Florida tonight, and it'll reach us Tuesday morning. Ahead of the front we'll see the clouds increase. Those same clouds will stick with us on Tuesday, and yes, they will bear rain at times. Not widespread activity, the showers will be widely scattered at best. Just be sure to leave home with some sort of rain gear Tuesday.
Better safe than sorry, right?
We'll experience clear skies and a slight breeze behind this front. Temperatures will be in the 50s Wednesday morning, and then back to the 60s Thursday morning. Our daytime highs won't be affected by the front. We'll continue to see them hover around 80 degrees.
Friday is when cold front number two sweeps across Southwest Florida. This front will be very robust, and it'll for sure spark widespread showers early in the day. Sunny skies will follow in the front's wake, but that's not the big story with the front.
The big story is the temperatures it'll bring with it.
The front has an arctic origin. No, it won't be the coldest air we've seen by the time it arrives, but it will definitely be chilly. Morning lows will plummet to the 40s and daytime highs will struggle to get past 70.

When Rick and Ann Scott moved in here, nearly 2 years ago, they made a change. They opened up the home to tours year around. Previously, under other administrations, it was only open during session a couple of months out of the year. Come on - let's go inside."
