WEAK COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH
In the month of December, cold fronts can be strong or weak as they pass southwest Florida. This week we will see both. A weak front is crossing the area today and a stronger front will move in early Friday morning. The weather tonight will be partly cloudy and a wind shift to the northwest will signal a little drop in humidity tonight and tomorrow. It should be nice sleeping weather tonight with the temperatures dropping to 60 along the coast and 50's inland. Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly clear this evening.
Tomorrow will be a nice sunny day with a high around 80 - 82 and more clear weather to follow tomorrow night. By Thursday we will track a stronger cold front approaching the area and skies will turn cloudy by late day. Rain showers will likely develop late Thursday and early Friday as the front moves through and drops our temperatures for the weekend ahead. You can expect highs around 70 and lows in the 40's by Saturday morning! But, as most of our cool snaps are known to do, the weather will warm up a bit by Monday and Tuesday of next week. In fact, it looks like 80 degrees again for Christmas Day.

MORE THAN 70-PERCENT OF ARM AND FINGER AMPUTATIONS IN THIS COUNTRY ARE THE RESULT OF ACCIDENTAL TRAUMA.

IT IS THE CUTTING TRUTH. WHILE PEOPLE HOPE A SEVERED FINGER OR LIMB CAN BE SEWN BACK IN PLACE, THERE ARE MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT WHAT CAN AND CAN'T BE DONE.
DR. DENNIS SAGINI/ORTHOPEDIC HAND SURGEON
RUNS:
:46 Many of the re-attachment procedures can be done when there is a clean cut to the extremity. So for example, if somebody is using a machete and cuts through their finger or through their hand. an injury like this can be replanted with some success.
LESS SUCCESSFUL ARE THE CRUSHING INJURIES OR ANIMAL BITES.
DR. DENNIS SAGINI/ORTHOPEDIC HAND SURGEON
RUNS:
:46 Another individual might have a dog bit in which there's tearing or ripping or twisting of tissues and loss of tissue. When someone has this type of issue it may be difficult to replant because there is damaged to the tissue.
AMY OSHIER/REPORTING
RUNS:
When it comes to the truly catastrophic- for example an alligator attack- you may hear about attempts to salvage the limb for reattachment. Most times it's not worth the effort.
DR. DENNIS SAGINI/ORTHOPEDIC HAND SURGEON
RUNS:
2:26: The the instances in which people have these alligator attacks and expect to have a re-plantation of a limb would be slim to none. The injury is usually a twisting, pulling, tearing injury. And then it goes inside the alligators stomach so there is significant contamination. To attempt to re-plant this type of amputation can lead to high chances of infection.
WHAT IS ALWAYS WORTH THE EFFORT, IS AN AMPUTATION INVOLVING A CHILD'S FINGER.
DR. DENNIS SAGINI/ORTHOPEDIC HAND SURGEON
RUNS:
10:05 We always attempt to fix that amputated digit because children's tissues have a high success rate with healing.
SURGEONS ALSO GO TO GREAT LENGTHS TO SAVE A THUMB, BECAUSE IT'S IMPORTANT TO THE HANDS OVERALL FUNCTIONING. IF MULTIPLE FINGERS ARE DAMAGED, DOCTORS MAY RELOCATE ONE IF THE CHANCE FOR SURVIVING ELSEWHERE IS BETTER.
DR. DENNIS SAGINI/ORTHOPEDIC HAND SURGEON
RUNS:
14:53 Microvascular surgery is a very dynamic filed and there are new techniques like grafting veins to arteries and various skin coverage procedures that can enhance the survivability of an amputated digit.
TO PUT YOUR BEST FOOT OR FINGER FORWARD, IT'S IMPORTANT TO GENTLY WASH THE AMPUTATED PART THEN WRAP IT IN CLOTH AND PUT IT IN A PLASTIC BAG. TRANSPORT THE BAG IN A CONTAINER OF COLD WATER. FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM, I'M AMY OSHIER.

Nats gavyn "only girls play with it."
Which is why his big sister went to bat for him, by stirring things up with

Since 1963 easy bake oven models have come in all sorts of colors, including
teal, yellow, silver and blue. And on Monday, when Hasbro welcomed mckenna
and her family into their headquarters, she got to see them all.including
their newest model in black and silver.

Hasbro told abc news the color change, "has been in development over
the past 18 months" and will become available in the fall of 2013.
22:24:43 what I had wanted to happening was coming into fruition it was just

THERE'S STILL A WEEK TO AGO UNTIL CHRISTMAS, BUT IF IT FEELS LIKE ITS BEEN A LONG HOLIDAY SEASON, IT'S BECAUSE IT HAS.
THANKS TO AN EARLY THANKSGIVING THERE ARE TWO EXTRA DAYS BETWEEN THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR,
MAKING this ONE OF THE LONGEST HOLIDAY SEASONS IN RECENT HISTORY.
And WHILE THERE IS SOME WORRY ABOUT SPENDING FATIGUE, THE EXTRA LONG SEASON HAS ALREADY HIT SOME MAJOR MILESTONES.
Neely Tamminga, Piper Jaffray: ".we're hearing terminology around "record days", "record Cyber Monday", "record Black Friday",
we think that is incredibly hopeful as we look into the balance of the holiday season"
ACCORDING TO COMSCORE, "CYBER MONDAY" MADE HISTORY AS THE HIGHEST ONLINE SPENDING DAY OF ALL TIME, TOTALING
MORE THAN ONE AND A HALF BILLION DOLLARS.
Gian Fulgoni, comScore Chairman: as we get to the middle of December we should see some very strong days. There is another interesting
day which is "free shipping day" which is coming up on December 17th and that will certainly be a billion dollar plus day.
.COMSCORE PREDICTS THERE WILL BE MORE THAN 10 BILLION DOLLAR ONLINE SALES DAYS THIS SEASON.THERE HAVE ALREADY BEEN 8.
Courtney standup: "Outlet are another success story this holiday season, as consumers flock to find value in off-price luxuries."
MOS: You go in and there's always a better deal, you know? And you've got designer names at a good quality price. I came for 1 item and I bought 5
Ken Lombard, Capri Capital Partners: "traditional and non-traditional retailers are up and seeing significant revenue increases from the same time last year in outlet centers"
THERE'S STILL ONE - VERY CRITICAL - SHOPPING WEEK LEFT BEFORE CHRISTMAS DAY. THAT PROVIDES AN EXTRA CHALLENGE
FOR RETAILERS TRYING TO KEEP CONSUMERS BUYING UNTIL THE END.
