Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
A very weak front will push through Southwest Florida today, bringing with it some thin clouds and perhaps one or two spotty showers during the first part of the day. A clearing trend will begin by midday, so look for plentiful sunshine this afternoon with temperatures peaking in the low 80s once the front clears.
The key word with this front will be "weak" because there won't be much of a cool down in its wake. By early Wednesday morning, most spots should cool into the upper 50s, but temperatures will quickly rebound to the low 80s by Wednesday afternoon. One thing that will be nice is the drop in humidity Wednesday, but expect this to be a modest drop and a very brief one.
Humidity levels will come roaring back Thursday as winds turn southerly, and morning temperatures are right back in the 60s. With a nice supply of sunshine in place, daytime highs should easily reach the low 80s.
For those ready for a nice cool spell, we won't have to wait too long. In fact, the coldest air we've seen so far this season will move in behind a strong cold front Thursday night into early Friday morning. Some scattered rain will be possible as the front slide through overnight Thursday, and skies should start to clear after sunrise Friday. A brisk northerly wind will keep temperature quite cool through the day, and it's very possible our daytime highs won't even be able to reach the 70s.
The stage will be set for the coldest night of the season Friday as temperature drop into the low to mid 40s across urban Southwest Florida by Saturday morning. The inland cold spots will likely record temperatures even colder with lows in the mid to upper 30s around sunrise Saturday.
The upcoming weekend looks cool and sunny with highs Saturday only in the upper 60s and highs Sunday breaking into the 70s.
Temperatures should start to rebound as we head into Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Highs will be close to the mid to upper 70s and lows in the 50s.
At this point, Christmas Day looks nice and dry with lots of sun!

PKG SCRIPT:
Newtown is performing a grim task. Parents are doing what they shouldn't
have to.
Six-year-old Noah Pozner was eulogized as a boy who liked animals, video
games and Mexican food.
At his funeral, an onlooker collapsed.
Inside the funeral, his mother moved everyone to tears with her stories.
SOT Rabbi Edgar Gluck, Mourner
"WHEN SHE TOLD HIM 'I LOVE YOU', HIS ANSWER WAS: 'NOT AS MUCH AS I LOVE YOU'
."
Another funeral -- for Jack Pinto, also six.
SOT Gwendolyn Glover, Mourner
"IT'S SAD, JUST SAD, HEAVY-HEARTED."
Jack loved the New York Giants.
His favorite player, Victor Cruz, wore his name on his cleats during Sunday'
s game.
SOT Victor Cruz, NY Giants WR
"TO HAVE MY JERSEY, AND TO BE HIS FAVORITE PLAYER SO MUCH THAT THEY WANT TO
BURY HIM WITH IT, IT WAS UNREAL. SO I TOLD THEM I WAS COMPLETELY HONORED."
There's still so much pain for all close to Friday's shooting.
Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy wiped away tears recalling the moment he
informed parents their children had died. And now he will attend so many
funerals.
SOT Governor Dannel Malloy, Connecticut
"YOU SEE LITTLE COFFINS AND YOUR HEART HAS TO ACHE."
New information about the 20-year-old shooter, Adam Lanza, paints the
picture of a young man that seemed to be unraveling.
For years, his mother, Nancy, shared her struggles with Adam's emotional and
behavioral problems with people at a Newtown bar and restaurant, according
to the owners.
And Nancy's friends say she told them in the last few months Adam was so
troubled he would not leave the house.
SOT Louise Tambascio, Owner, My Place
"SHE HOME SCHOOLED HIM AND EVERYTHING. SO, LIKE I SAID, I KNEW HE WAS ON
MEDICATION, BUT THAT'S ALL I KNOW."
A former babysitter says he was told by Nancy to never leave Adam alone.
SOT Ryan Kraft, Former Babysitter
"NEVER EVEN GO TO THE BATHROOM OR TURN YOUR BACK ON HIM AT ANY TIME."
Despite his problems, friends say, Nancy took her son to local firing ranges
and introduced him to the world of high-powered guns.

Full Forecast
