THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
With a chilly, Canadian air mass in place across Southwest Florida, temperatures will stay well below average for this last Saturday before Christmas.
Afternoon starting with temperatures in the mid to upper 40s around sunrise , daytime temps will be slow to warm through the day with highs aimed for the mid 60s. A stiff breeze will bring an extra chill to the air, especially during the early morning when wind chill values will be as low as the upper 30s and low 40s.
The cool breeze will persist through the day with winds ranging from 5-15 mph with some higher gusts.
Blue skies and sunshine will be in place all day today, so skies conditions will be gorgeous. On Sunday we'll see a few more thin clouds around, but sunshine will still be prevalent.
With clear skies and calm winds in place tonight, the stage will be set for the coldest temperatures we've seen in some time across Southwest Florida. Overnight lows will likely dip into the low 40s around the urban corridor and mid to upper 30s deep inland. A Freeze Watch is in effect for our inland counties through Sunday morning, indicating some of the more rural settings may briefly drop close to freezing.
By Sunday afternoon, another warming trend begins as daytime highs break into the low to mid 70s, but even Sunday will be on the cool side for this time of year.
The warm up continues early next week and right on through Christmas. By Christmas Eve, afternoon temperatures will warm into the upper 70s, and on Christmas Day temperatures will get close to 80°. We'll also be watching for a little more cloud cover Monday and Tuesday, but skies will at least be partly sunny, and we don't expect any rain around SWFL.
The next weather system will come through the area late Wednesday, bring the risk of a few showers and another cool spell toward the end of the week. This temperatures swing won't be as dramatic as the current one; daytime temperatures Thursday and Friday will most likely warm into the low 70s while overnight temperatures fall into 50s.

FORECAST OPEN
Return to index of stories...

IN A VIDEO SHOWN AT HER FUNERAL
LITTLE EVA DAGHRA DANCES
Nat
AND BOUNCES AROUND JUST LIKE ANY OTHER 2 YEAR-OLD.
Nat
THE TODDLER'S LIFE TRAGICALLY ENDED-
AFTER THIS CAR CRASH.
50:21 "it was just an accident- I would never do anything to hurt my child."
THAT'S HER MOTHER-
MONIQUE DAGHRA- WHO WAS BEHIND THE WHEEL,
AND LATER CHARGED WITH HER CHILD'S DEATH.
49:42 "I have to suffer for the rest of my life and I miss her and I wish she was still here with me."
FOR THE FIRST TIME-
SHE'S SPEAKING OUT.
49:34 "I miss my daughter dearly and it was just a tragic accident and I didn't mean for anything to happen to her."
MONIQUE JUST ACCEPTED A PLEA DEAL-
AND WON'T BE SENT TO JAIL,
BUT INSTEAD WILL BE ON PROBATION FOR 10 YEARS.
BACK IN FEBRUARY,
FORT MYERS POLICE SAY DAGHRA MADE THE CHOICE TO PUT HER DAUGHTER IN A CAR SEAT IN THE FRONT SEAT OF HER CAR-
THEY TELL US SHE NEVER BUCKLED THE CHILD IN,
AND NEVER STRAPPED HER CAR SEAT TO THE CAR.
WHEN SHE REAR-ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE-
THE AIRBAG SLAMMED INTO EVA.
PARAMEDICS RUSHED THE LITTLE GIRL TO THE HOSPITAL,
BUT SHE DIED.
50:49 "she was in her carseat and at the time of the accident, the airbags deployed- I tried to remove the car seat from the car."
MONIQUE TELLS US TODAY,
THAT EVA WAS BUCKLED IN,
AND THE CAR SEAT WAS STRAPPED IN TOO.
BUT INVESTIGATORS SAY THERE'S NO PROOF THE LITTLE GIRL WAS EVER BUCKLED IN.
FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE-
MONIQUE WILL ONLY HAVE THE MEMORIES OF HER DAUGHTER-
WHO SHE LOST
49:50 "just holding her and kissing her and loving her and playing with makeup and watching her dance."
