THAT'S THE MAIN FINDING OF A SURVEY OF A THOUSAND ADULTS FROM PEARL.COM -- AN ONLINE SOURCE FOR ADVICE FROM DOCTORS, LAWYERS AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS.
WHEN PUT ON THE SPOT -- PATIENTS TEND TO FUDGE THE FOOD THEY EAT, HOW MUCH THEY EAT AND WHETHER THEY EXERCISE.
"There are intensely personal items and issues that people may not feel comfortable sharing."
THEY ALSO TEND TO FIB ABOUT THEIR SMOKING AND DRINKING HABITS -- BOTH CAN RAISE THE RISK FOR HEART DISEASE AND SOME CANCERS.
DOCTORS SAY IT'S IMPORTANT TO HAVE AS MUCH HEALTH-RELATED INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE.
"The more we know about patients' information, in particular their medications, the better job we can do in making certain that the medications don't interact with one another."
THE SURVEY ALSO REVEALED PATIENTS ARE FOREGOING UNCOMFORTABLE FACE-TO-FACE CONVERSATIONS IN FAVOR OF SEEKING ONLINE INFORMATION -- MAINLY ABOUT SEX AND SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES.
"41% of people feel more comfortable asking questions about sex-related issues online rather than asking in person."
DOCTORS ARE HUMAN TOO -- THEY UNDERSTAND PATIENTS CAN BE MORE COMFORTABLE RESEARCHING SENSITIVE INFORMATION IN THE PRIVACY OF THEIR HOMES.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
GORGEOUS WEATHER FOR CHRISTMAS
Clouds covered our sky on Christmas Eve, but thankfully we have no rain to show for it. I expect that to spill over into Christmas Day, too.
Temperatures will hold in the 50s as Santa arrives. He'll pass through a few clouds, but he won't encounter any rain. So all systems go for Santa's flight across Southwest Florida!
As the kids wake up and open their presents - the weather looks good. That will last through the entire day which is great news since they'll want to get out and play with their new toys! Not only that, but if you have a Christmas breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner planned. Looks awesome for that, too.
We expect the clouds to erode away slightly during the afternoon on Christmas. Thus we'll see a little more sun than Christmas Eve, and it will continue to stay dry. It won't feel like Christmas though because daytime highs will be around 80 degrees!
Heading toward midnight temperatures will be slow to cool again due to clouds advancing into the area. This is streaming off a robust system forecasted to impact the Deep South. If you have family living in the Lower Mississippi River Valley or the Tennessee Valley - call them and give them a heads up. A significant severe weather event is setting up for them. Behind the same system wintry weather is expecting from Arkansas and areas north.
That system will send a cold front in our direction which will spark a few showers late Wednesday.
After Wednesday the sunshine is back for a few days along with the cooler weather.
Our next system of interest rolls in during the Saturday-Sunday time frame, and yes, it looks to gives us more rain.

Just like folks from up north head down to swfl to escape the cold, the manatees swam from the chilly gulf waters to the 77degree canal here at manatee park. Except--for these sea creatures, the cold weather can put extra stress on their bodies.

John Sterling Howe, Mn senator
"You can go on actually tours and not see one, so this is the best place."
The State senator of Minnesota even stopped by before catching a flight back home north today. It's the 64 degree gulf waters that forced the manatees to migrate here. And the cold temperatures can put stress on their bodies. Since there's no food in the canal--the manatees will have to venture back out to the gulf if they want to eat.
Take sound
Laura Carr, Senior Program Specialist
"The traveling takes a toll on their bodies. The need for food takes a toll. And then deciding if you want to be warm or cold, do you want to eat, what do you want to do, it can be very tough.
So you do find some that are affected by cold stress so it's not just humans that impact them its the weather as well."
A recent study by the university of Florida found the mammals lack of genetic diversity makes it difficult for them to adjust to a changing environment. Three manatees died in lee county this year as a result of cold weather. But it's the cold weather that brings them here--for the spectators to marvel at.

Janet Connolly, Michigan
"Very interesting. Huge. It's amazing that they're out there. They have kind of an ancient look to them."
From 2000 to 2011, FWC found
The State's manatee population has increased by about 3,000. And if we get more cold snaps--you can bet the manatee population at this canal will increase. The park is open year round if you want to spot one of these sea creatures. In manatee park kc NBC2.
