Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
We've got some magnificent weather on the way for Christmas Day across Southwest Florida!
We'll start things off this Christmas morning with a few passing clouds and lots of sunshine. Temperatures will be cool but slightly warmer than Christmas Eve morning as the warming trend continues for us today. After starting out with temperatures in the mid to upper 50s, we'll end up warmer then normal this afternoon with highs close to 80°.
Aside from Santa and his reindeer this morning, the only thing we'll be tracking in our sky is some thin clouds flowing in from the west. Overall, we'll call Christmas Day partly cloudy and dry with a nice supply of sunshine.
If you're going out tonight to check out some Christmas lights or to simply enjoy the beautiful weather, temperatures will settle into the low 70s just after sunrise, and we'll cool off into the low 60s overnight and into Wednesday morning.
Wednesday will be another warm day with higher humidity and a little more cloud cover. A weakening cool front will also be heading our way Wednesday afternoon and evening, so we'll see the potential for a few showers and perhaps a couple rumbles of thunder.
By Thursday, we'll clear out and cool off. Temperatures will struggle to get out of the 60s, and we'll enjoy wall to wall sunshine.
The chill returns to the air Friday morning as overnight lows dip into the low 50s and even upper 40s. Temperatures Friday afternoon will be quite pleasant as daytime highs reach the mid 70s.
The next chance of rain for us will be Saturday as the next storm system heads our way. Most of the rain will clear the area Sunday, leaving us with a partly cloudy sky and another cool down coming our way toward the end of the weekend.
Happy Holidays!

WITH ALL THE TALK OF THE FISCAL CLIFF, THERE'S A HOUSING-RELATED TAX CUT THAT ALSO NEEDS CONGRESS' ATTENTION.
A TAX BREAK THAT HAS SAVED STRUGGLING HOMEOWNERS FROM PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO THE I-R-S IS JUST DAYS AWAY FROM EXPIRING.
THE MORTGAGE FORGIVENESS DEBT RELIEF ACT WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2007 IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FORECLOSURE CRISIS.
FOR EXAMPLE, IF SOMEONE OWES 1 hundred 50-THOUSAND DOLLARS ON a HOME AND IT SELLS FOR 100-THOUSAND IN A FORECLOSURE AUCTION, THEY COULD OWE TAXES ON THE REMAINING 50-THOUSAND DOLLARS.

IF CONGRESS DOESN'T ACT BEFORE THEN, THE U-S WOULD REVERT BACK TO A 63-YEAR-OLD DAIRY POLICY.
THAT WOULD FORCE THE GOVERNMENT TO BUY MILK AT INFLATED PRICES.

E-GIFT CARDS HAVE BECOME ONE OF EASIEST GIFTS TO GIVE DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON - SENT DIRECTLY TO A RECIPIENTS EMAIL, OR EVEN BETTER -- A SMARTPHONE.
It's saved in your inbox, especially if you're sending it via email, so there's no worry about you losing it, or it ending up under a stack of papers on your desk.
FOR KEEPING TRACK OF MULTIPLE E-GIFT CARDS, SCOTT GAMM OF THE PERSONAL FINANCE WEBSITE HELP SAVE MY DOLLARS DOT-COM, RECOMMENDS AN APP LIKE TANGO CARD TO ORGANIZE THEM.
When it comes time to use the gift card in the store, the cashier can actually scan that bar code on the smartphone or manually enter in the numbers listed on the smartphone and it's a great way to digitally organize all of your gift cards, you don't have to worry about losing them or forgetting them.
AND IF AN E-GIFT CARD OR A TRADITIONAL GIFT CARD ISN'T A GOOD FIT, GET CASH FOR IT THROUGH A WEBSITE LIKE CARD-HUB-DOT-COM.
It's a great way to get cash for a gift card that honestly you're never going to use so you might as well get the cash now, rather than forgetting about the gift card and not redeeming it.

Full Forecast
