GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNING -

THANKS FOR JOINING US HERE ON NBC-2 NEWS TODAY

I'M STACEY DEFFENBAUGH.

WE BEGIN THIS MORNING - WITH TRAVELERS STRANDED ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.

AIRPORTS ARE PACKED WITH PEOPLE TRYING TO GET "SOMEWHERE."

MORE THAN 17-HUNDRED FLIGHTS WERE CANCELED WEDNESDAY AND TODAY MIGHT NOT BE MUCH BETTER WITH SNOW, FREEZING RAIN AND STRONG WINDS BATTERING THE NORTHEAST.

AND IT'S CAUSING A DOMINO EFFECT ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

A PILOT ON A FLIGHT SITTING FOR HOURS IN DALLAS WAITING TO DEPART FOR LAS VEGAS TOLD PASSENGERS THIS:

"It's beyond reproach. I have no words to tell you. to tell you how sorry I am for all of this.

PASSENGERS IN ATLANTA ARE TRYING TO KEEP THEIR COOL AS THEY WAIT FOR WORD ON THEIR FLIGHTS.

You can't change it. Take it for what it is and make the best of a bad situation.

The best thing is to think about the purpose of the trip so you're not so upset.

GETTING AROUND ON THE GROUND ISN'T ANY EASIER. MOTORISTS IN INDIANAPOLIS HAD TO DEAL WITH WHITE OUT CONDITIONS. THE INDIANA PACERS POSTPONED THEIR GAME AGAINST THE CHICAGO BULLS BECAUSE OF THE SEVERE WEATHER IN INDIANAPOLIS.

5:02 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"Sunshine returns with cooler temperatures"

After a cloudy day with a few showers, we have a pretty nice forecast headed our way over the next couple of days. Now that a cold front has passed through Southwest Florida much cooler and drier air will filter down the state with chilly nights and cooler afternoons.

In fact this morning, temperatures will start out 8 - 10° cooler with most locations in the lower 50s with middle and upper 40s across our northern and inland communities. As an area of cool and dry high pressure settles in from the northwest, more sunshine will return for Thursday. Northerly winds will usher in a chilly airmass, which will bring a nice change in our temperatures. Afternoon highs will top out from the middle 60s north to lower 70s south and our humidity values will be quite comfy as well.

Tonight, clear skies and light winds will allow the mercury to drop even more as overnight temperatures plunge into the upper 40s along the urban corridor with colder readings east of I-75.

After a cold start on Friday, mostly sunny skies will hang on for Friday as daytime highs rebound into the middle and upper 70s. Over the weekend moisture will return ahead of our next storm system with a cold front approaching our part of the state during the afternoon hours. Scattered showers will break out across the area Saturday afternoon and will quickly fade away during the evening with another cool down in the works for the last Sunday before the New Year. We will welcome 2013 with mostly sunny skies and near average temperatures with lows in the 50s and highs in the mid 70s. Return to index of stories...

KIDS DOING YOGA-PKG

Some say yoga is the fastest growing sport in the nation, with an estimated

20 million people practicing regularly. But the latest trend among yogis is

that an ever-growing number of practitioners are.. pint-sized.

Genevieve O/C:

There are yoga classes for infants all the way up to teenagers. They even

have classes for toddlers like my daughter.

SOT: Liz Eustace, CEO Alignyo:

You're still going to see the foundation of yoga - so there's going to be an

awareness of movement, and anatomy and breath, tremendous creativity,

interplay between teacher and children.

Genevieve O/C:

I'm here with a group of 6-9 year-old yogis who are showing me a little

about what a kids' yoga class is like.

NATS:

One leg comes up, the other.

Teacher Lauren Chaitoff co-owner of Yogi Beans:

It's going to be little bit sillier, more playful/Kids are stressed, social

pressures and pressure in school.

SOT KIDS:

MOS LITTLE GIRL:

It clears you mind off something that's really bothering you.

MOS BROTHER AND SISTER:

After class is over it seems like I'm not so worried about my problems as

when I was in school.

Parents should look for a registered children's yoga instructor-a good

start is the Yoga Alliance website. Don't be afraid to ask a lot of

questions and be sure to develop a relationship with the teacher.

Experts - and parents - say the benefits extend well beyond the studio.

Mom Gail Tobias SOT:

After she is done with the class I find she's much more eager to go home and

sit and do her homework and be more focused.

EUSTACE SOT:

"There's also great resources online and through books and through DVDs so

whether you're in a small community or a larger community you can still

integrate a lot of the practices and teachings of kids yoga. Return to index of stories...

HOWEVER THE DEFENSE INDUSTRY IS URGING CONGRESS TO SHIFT IT'S ATTENTION ON ACROSS THE BOARD CUTS KNOWN AS "SE-QUES-TRATION" --

RATHER THAN FIGHTING OVER TAXES.

IF THE CUTS TAKE EFFECT AS SCHEDULED, MANY JOBS WOULD BE LOST, AS $55-BILLION DOLLARS WOULD BE CUT FROM THE PENTAGON'S BUDGET.

4 DAYS UNTIL AMERICANS SEE THERE TAXES DO UP.

FISCAL CLIFF SHOWDOWN-PKG

PRESIDENT OBAMA AND LAWMAKERS RETURN TO WASHINGTON TODAY WITH JUST FIVE DAYS LEFT TO AVERT THE FISCAL CLIFF.

ALL EYES WILL BE ON THE SENATE - AFTER HOUSE REPUBLICANS SAID IT'S UP TO SENATE LEADERSHIP TO REACH A DEAL

NBC'S DANIELLE LEIGH REPORTS FROM CAPITOL HILL ON THE SCRAMBLE TO COME TOGETHER FAST.

ANOTHER DAY AND ANOTHER STAND-OFF.THIS TIME HOUSE SPEAKER JOHN BOEHNER HINTING HE MAY NOT EVEN BRING HOUSE MEMBERS BACK TO TOWN UNTIL THE SENATE COMES UP WITH A PASSABLE PLAN.

AS PRESIDENT OBAMA LEAVES HIS TROPICAL RETREAT IN HAWAII- FOR A WINTRY WASHINGTON- TENSION ON CAPITOL HILL IS ON HIGH.

"I don't see how you could hammer out any kind of a grand bargain or large plan involving tax reform and entitlement changes in a matter of days."

SERIOUS DOUBT IS SETTING IN-

EVEN STARBUCKS IS GETTING INVOLVED- WRITING "COME TOGETHER" ON ITS CUPS

SPEAKER JOHN BOEHNER SAYS HE'S SITTING THIS ROUND OUT- AFTER FAILING TO GET ENOUGH HOUSE REPUBLICANS TO SUPPORT HIS OWN PLAN JUST BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

Maryland:31-:37

"I think that Boehner is being controlled, unfortunately - by the right wing."

THAT LEAVES IT UP TO MAJORITY LEADER HARRY REID AND THE REST OF THE SENATE TO FIND A PASSABLE SOLUTION.

AIDES SAY REID'S PLAN WOULD AVOID TAX INCREASES FOR PEOPLE MAKING LESS THAN 250-THOUSAND DOLLARS, ELIMINATE SOME BIG SPENDING CUTS AND RESTORE UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS.

5:32 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

WEB BEHAVIOR-PKG

THE MORE YOU LOOK AT AN ITEM ON LINE: WHETHER IT'S A PRODUCT OR AN AIRLINE TICKET… THE MORE LIKELY THE PRICE WILL GO UP.

IT'S CALLED DYNAMIC PRICING.

"Dynamic pricing essentially is pricing things different for different people at different times, for the same product."

JOHN SIMPSON OF CONSUMER WATCHDOG-DOT-ORG SAYS IT'S UNFAIR TO SHOPPERS.

"So you start to have the ability of really discriminatory pricing."

MARKETING EXPERT PROFESSOR DOMINIQUE HANSSENS.

"How do these companies know that I've been looking at this item for 3 days on the 3rd day it's more expensive than it was 3 days ago? That's because you leave a trail, you might think you're anonymous on the internet but you're really not. Your name may be private but your computer name is not."

YOUR COMPUTER ID IS TRACKED BY SOFTWARE ON YOUR BROWSER CALLED COOKIES.

THESE COOKIES COLLECT INFORMATION ON WHERE YOU'VE SHOPPED, AND WHAT YOU'VE BOUGHT. AND, IF YOU'VE SHOPPED AT HIGH END SITES THEY MIGHT SET YOUR PRICE HIGHER!

"They will look at the probability that you will buy given your previous behavior."

PROFESSOR HANSSENS SAYS BEAT THEM AT THEIR OWN GAME.

"Use multiple computers, use multiple accounts just don't reveal your behavior if you want to be anonymous." Return to index of stories...
