ur cool snap quickly comes to and end"
After a cold start to the day, our cool snap will quickly come to an end as a warming trend begins.
There will be a chill in the air as we start our Friday with many locations dipping into the middle to upper 40s along the urban corridor with our inland cold spots plummeting into the lower 40s. Sunny skies will prevail through the mid day hours as temperatures gradually work their way into the middle and upper 70s later in the day.
The cool dome of high pressure that brought us a quick dose of cool and dry air will shift to the east with more clouds filtering in from the south across our part of the state. Forecast models suggest a stray shower during the afternoon hours, however it looks like the vast majority of us will stay dry with increasing rain prospects by the first half of the weekend.
We will be watching a cold front approach the Florida peninsula throughout the day on Saturday. As a result, our skies will cloud up with a band of showers moving across Southwest Florida during the afternoon hours and quickly exiting to our south and east by the evening. Clouds will clear from north to south and a cooler and drier airmass will settle in across the state.
The better weekend day will be Sunday with sunny skies, however sweater weather will return as afternoon highs will remain unseasonably cool in the upper 60s. Temperatures will quickly rebound from the upper 40s on Monday morning into the upper 70s to 80° with mostly sunny skies and a dry pattern as we welcome the New Year.

NBC'S ANDREA MITCHELL HAS A LOOK BACK AT HOW STORMIN NORMAN BECAME A HOUSEHOLD NAME.
Return to index of stories...
Nicknamed "Stormin' Norman" for his legendary temper, Norman Schwarzkopf was an American original: colorful and blunt-talking - he used his pre war briefings to try to scare Saddam Hussein into backing down:
IF THE IRAQIS ARE DUMB ENOUGH TO ATTACK, THEY ARE GOING TO PAY A TERRIBLE PRICE FOR IT.
dissolve
IF HE DARES COME ACROSS THAT BORDER AND COME DOWN HERE, I'M COMPLETELY CONFIDENT THAT WE'RE GOING KICK HIS BUTT WHEN HE GETS HERE.
But when the decision to go to war was made - Schwarzkopf was ready with a plan to outflank the Iraqi forces with a sweeping armored movement. Former President Bush with Brian Williams last year:
I REMEMBER WHEN HE CAME AND PRESENTED HIS PLAN AT CAMP DAVID TO US AND-- AND THEN WE FINE TUNED IT A LITTLE BIT OR ASKED THAT IT BE FINE TUNED. BUT HE WAS A GREAT SOLDIER.
Commanding 540 thousand American and another 200-thousand allied troops in the first war televised in real time - Schwarzkopf's briefings made him a matinee idol:
SOT montage:
I WOULD DESCRIBE THAT REPORT AS BOVINE SCATOLOGY.
/
THE SIMPLE FACT OF THE MATTER IS THAT NOW EVERY TIME AN IRAQI AIRPLANE TAKES OFF THE GROUND IT'S RUNNING AWAY
/
AS FAR AS SADDAM HUSSEIN BEING A GREAT MILITARY STRATEGIST, HE IS NEITHER A STRATEGIST NOR IS HE SCHOOLED IN THE OPERATIONAL ART.
A West Point graduate - like his father, a famous New Jersey state police leader who cracked the Lindbergh kidnapping case - the younger Schwarzkopf played football - wrestled - sang in the choir -
NAT SOT VIETNAM
In Vietnam, he was wounded twice during two tours of duty -
NAT SOT VICTORY PARADE
He returned from Desert Storm a celebrated hero, despite later questions about President Bush's decision to end the ground war after 100 hours, leaving Saddam Hussein in power.
In recent years, General Schwarzkopf battled poor health - but will long be remembered as the commanding figure he once was:
Schwarzkopf: I JUST WOULD BE VERY HAPPY IF THE HISTORY BOOKS SAID THAT I
WAS A SOLDIER WHO SERVED HIS COUNTRY WITH HONOR AND LOVED HIS--LOVED HIS
TROOPS AND LOVED HIS FAMILY. THAT'S ENOUGH FOR ME.

President Putin signed the bill less than 24 hours after receiving it from the Russian parliament.
The ban on Americans adopting Russian children will come into force on January first.
It's likely 46 children who were about to be adopted in the US will have to remain in Russia.
It's estimated there are more than 700-thousand children in Russia not living with their parents.
American families have been the biggest overseas adopters, taking in more than 60-thousand in the last two decades.
The bill is being seen as retaliation for recent US legislation designed to punish Russian human rights abusers.
"It's not surprising that there's political retribution, that there's a political tit for tat, that's not surprising, you know. But what's shocking is that they are using, that they're putting the well being of children at risk for the sake of political retribution. And that has to stop."

Now, developments in MAGNETIC IMAGING mean PATIENTS CAN HAVE THE procedure in an open scanner. WITH NEW HIGH FIELD MACHINES LIKE THIS. images of bone and tissue appear clearly and accurately. matching the high-powered tunnel SYSTEMS, without the darkness and noise.
DR. JOHN RODRIGUEZ/MEDICAL DIR. OUTPATIENT IMAGING

3:41 Children want to have their parents around. If you put a child in a tube-type magnet they can't see mom or dad and they get nervous and they get scared and they want to get out. With this machine the parent can be at the child's side through the whole examination.

Powered by a 17-ton magnet, the machine is quite literally opening up MRI. There are few physical obstructions which offers a sense of space. But also makes room for large patients.
DR. JOHN RODRIGUEZ/MEDICAL DIR. OUTPATIENT IMAGING
RUNS:
4:25 This magnet is approved for 650 pounds. Patients at that size still may have trouble fitting into the even an open magnet, but certainly it expands the ability to get high field examinations on larger patients.
THE SUPER-SIZED MAGNET IS A GAME-CHANGER TOO. WITH LOW FIELD OPEN MRIs, DOCTORS FACED THE CHOICE OF GIVING PATIENTS BREATHING ROOM AND GETTING LOWER QUALITY IMAGES IN RETURN. THIS HIGH FIELD OPEN SYSTEM IS THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.

. OF ALL THE OVER-THE-TOP PAMPERING THIS PICTURE. AT FIRST GLANCE, AT
LEAST. STRUCK ME AS THE APEX OF THIS PARTICULAR BRAND OF MANIA.
THIS DOE-EYED LITTLE POOCH IS STARING INTO AN ARTIFICIAL SUNLIGHT GENERATOR
JUST IN CASE HE'S GETTING DEPRESSED FROM LACK OF SUNLIGHT.
THE THING IS EVEN MADE BY A COMPANY CALLED. PAWSITIVE LIGHTING!
BUT THEN I HEARD ABOUT THE GUY WHO STARTED THE COMPANY. MAX MARVIN. WHO,
NOT LONG AGO, WAS SUFFERING FROM A FIERCE CASE OF INSOMNIA.
MAX'S DOCTOR TOLD HIM TO USE A LIGHT BOX TO BRIGHTEN THE GLOOMY WINTER DAYS
IN PORTLAND, OREGON. AND IT WORKED. NOT ONLY ON MAX. BUT ALSO HIS
GOLDEN RETRIEVER, LUKE.
SOT, Max Marvin/Founder of Pawsitive Lighting
20:00:08- "Luke and I were both basking in the sun every single morning and
I found that he was just completely drawn to the light."
MAX DID SOME RESEARCH. AND IT TURNS OUT LOTS OF VETS THINK PETS *
MIGHT* BE GETTING SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER. A CONDITION THAT CAUSES
DEPRESSION IN HUMANS. AND IN ANIMALS MAY LEAD TO LETHARGY, LACK OF
APPETITE, CLAWING AND INAPPROPRIATE POOPING.
SOT, Dr. Marty Becker/Veterinarian 1:16
"Unlike humans, pets don't fake it. They don't say I don't want to show up
to work today so I'll call in sick, right? But if you eliminate all the
other things that are true problems. then you'd have to look
from the fact that this pet may be depressed. "
SOT, Max Marvin/Founder of Pawsitive Lighting
20:02:36- "Luke would just be on his back enjoying the light, happy as can
be."
AT 200 BUCKS. IT'S CHEAPER THAN A DIAMOND-STUDDED COLLAR. / AND WHO
KNOWS. MAYBE AT THE VERY LEAST, IT WILL CHEER UP THE HUMANS IN THE HOUSE.

AUBREY IRELAND IS A GIFTED 21 YEAR OLD THEATRE MAJOR.
often winning major roles in her school's musicals.but her latest win wasn't
AT her PRESTIGIOUS MUSIC CONSERVATORY. but in court.after she filed
a civil stalking order against her parents.
EARLIER THIS MONTH, a judge RULED in her favor, ordering that her parents
MUST STAY AT LEAST 500 FEET FROM THEIR ONLY CHILD.
Aubrey They basically thought that they were paying for my college tuition
and living expenses
that they could tell me what to do who to hang out with.basically control
all of my daily life.
The dean's list student's COMPLAINTS AGAINST HER PARENTS BEGAN WHEN
SHE realized THEY'D INSTALLED MONITORING SOFTWARE ON HER COMPUTER
AND HER PHONE.MAKING THE SINGING HOPEFUL FEEL LIKE QUOTE "A DOG WITH A COLLAR."
THEY ALSO PAID UNANNOUCED VISITS TO THEIR LITTLE GIRL.TRAVELING 600
MILES FROM THEIR HOME IN KANSAS.TO MEET WITH AUBREY'S DEPARTMENT
HEAD.ACCUSING THEIR DAUGHTER OF PROMISCUITY, DOING DRUGS, AND HAVING
MENTAL ISSUES TO THE POINT WHERE THEY WERE CONSIDERING GOING TO COURT
TO ORDER THAT SHE GET TREATMENT.
Aubrey My mom has always been very overly involved.
I would have to get on skype all the time to show them that I was in
my dorm room or there were nights I had to leave my skype on all night and
my mom would watch me basically sleep.
She claims her parents, DAVID AND JULIE IRELAND, have been
diagnosed with co dependency disorder.but *they* say their daughter is
just a good actor, saying she is lying and calling her "AN ONLY CHILD WHO
HAS BEEN CATERED TO ALL HER LIFE."
BECAUSE AUBREY HAS CUT ALL TIES WITH THEM IN A VERY PUBLIC WAY.
They now want a refund of the 66 thousand DOLLARS they've already paid
TOWARD HER EDUCATION. HER MOTHER SAYS "WE'RE NOT BOTHERING HER.
WE'RE NOT A PROBLEM."
Aubrey I never wanted this to happen that's the last thing I wanted but.I
wasn't
in control of my life at all anymore.I knew that they were holding me back
emotionally, mentally, and professionally and that it got to the point where
that was basically
my last option.
