CROWDS WERE LINED UP AROUND THE BUILDING FOR THE NATION'S GUN SHOW IN SUBURBAN WASHINGTON, DC TODAY.
AS TONY TULL REPORTS, THEY WERE MET BY A HANDFUL OF PROTESTERS.
Return to index of stories...
The nations gun show… every time the doors open it draws thousands at the Dulles Expo Center… like Ted Crabtree and his grandkids.
:08- 15
"I brought my grandsons down. I'd like to get them a little involved in stuff like this. Not be afraid of them."
But for this show… the crowds are almost overwhelming… the lines at the checkouts… enormous… mostly in-part to this gun… the AR-15.
A gun that has become sensationalized following numerous mass shootings… and a gun that if banned… could put dealer Randy Murry out of business.
:32- 39
"It's gonna drive us out of business is what it is. I mean, the situation we're in now with our economy, we don't need any more kicks at us."
The AR-15 is the poster child for the assault rifle genre… a line of guns that some folks say has no place in the hands of citizens. And although the weather today here in Chantilly was cold and wet keeping many anti-gun activists away… scores of protesters were on hand during opening day.
Nats of protesters
"People in their homes have stocks and stocks of guns."
It wasn't just AR-15's that were flying off of dealers tables… these 30 round magazines were in hi demand, too.
With all of the talk in and around Capitol Hill about possibly banning these, as well… they were also a big seller for dealers.
1:10- 1:24
"Say something should actually happen, and we no longer have the right to go out and purchase our guns. Then that means somebody actually got off their butt and decided that we're going to change the Constitution a little bit. And that starts the ball rolling on a lot of other things, and it's gonna open the door to a lot of other issues."

CHILLY SUNDAY ON TAP
A thick deck of clouds mixed with the occasional shower made for a gloomy Saturday. Thankfully we'll see an improvement in our weather as we go into the last Sunday of 2012.
The clouds and showers we dealt with on Saturday were associated with a weakening cold front. I expect the front to clear the area by Sunday morning, and that means we'll see added sunshine.
What else will the front usher into Southwest Florida? Cooler temperatures.
That's right. You heard me. Cooler temperatures. But we will not be contending with anything near freezing. It'll simply be cool and refreshing.
Morning lows on Sunday will range from 40 degrees in our colder spots to 52 degrees in our typical warm areas. There will be a few high clouds in the morning mixed with patchy fog early. The fog quickly erodes as high pressure builds in from our north. We'll see mostly sunny skies for the majority of Sunday as a result, but when we approach 5 PM we'll see cold weather clouds roll in off the Atlantic.
So our mostly sunny start will translate to a partly cloudy end to the day.
Oh, and highs will be in the mid 60s! Most of us will struggle to get passed 65 during the afternoon.
The winds will be gusty on Sunday, too. This will make our temperatures feel slightly cooler. It'll also make it a tough day to go golfing or hit the beach. Winds will come in from the Northeast from 10 to 20 knots. That means the seas will be choppy, and there is a small craft advisory being issued by the NWS.
Those breezy winds will begin to dimish we start the week. Temperatures will begin moderating as we start the new year as well. Afternoon temperatures will top out in the lower 80s by Wednesday. Our clouds will begin increasing as well, and we'll end the work week on a wet note as another cold front approaches on Thursday-Friday.

WITHOUT A HANGOVER THE NEXT DAY.
WE'LL HELP YOU AVOID STARTING 2013 WITH A HEADACHE.
HERE'S MIKE WILBER WITH SOME TIPS TO PREVENT THE DREADED NEW YEAR'S DAY HANGOVER.
Return to index of stories...
"The reason why we have hang overs is because our body is having a hard time dealing with all of the toxins from the alcohol."
"QUICKIE CHICK'S GUIDE TO LIFE" AUTHOR LAUREL HOUSE SAYS BEFORE A NIGHT OF PARTYING, EAT A HEARTY MEAL. DRINK LOTS OF WATER. AND.
"Asparagus has also shown to break down alcohol faster. it'll actually help to minimize and then completely help to make your hang over non-existent."
IF YOU DIDN'T PLAN AHEAD, SIP ON SOME FRUIT JUICE IF YOU WAKE UP FEELING SICK!
"One of the things that helps to make hang overs go away faster is fruit juice. Fruit juice is filled with fructose and fructose helps to minimize the hang over by pulling out the toxins faster and processing them through the liver and getting them out of your body."
"Banana is a great hang over food because it's filled with potassium and also electrolytes so when your drinking your pulling the electrolytes out of your body it helps to refill them and refuel you."
COCONUT WATER IS ALSO FULL OF ELECTROLYTES. AND POACHED EGGS ARE A GREAT OPTION FOR PAIN RELIEF!
"Eggs are filled with a chemical called sistine & sistine helps to break down alcohol faster. You don't wanna have eggs that are fried or filled with all different other things. Poached eggs are the cleanest lowest fat & best way to have eggs in the morning."
WHILE AT "THE FOUR SEASONS - LOS ANGELES", LAUREL SHOOTS DOWN SOME HANGOVER CURE MYTHS.
"For some reason people think that having fried fatty food and spicy food actually helps to get rid of their hangover, it doesn't. It's actually going to aggravate your stomach even more. "
"Burnt toast is one of those strange myths people think, I'll have burnt toast it's going to make my hang over go away, it's actually not going to do anything in fact it might actually hurt you because of the burnt charcoal on the toast."
AND THE "HAIR OF THE DOG" THEORY OF DRINKING MORE ALCOHOL TO HELP YOUR HEADACHE IS DECEIVING.
"A bloody Mary is spicy and acidic, two things that you don't want when you have a hang over, as delicious as they may be, maybe have it when your not hung over."
