PKG:
IT WAS CLOSE TO 2:00 IN THE MORNING.
WHEN A LEE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTY MADE A TRAFFIC STOP JUST SOUTH OF ALICO ROAD ON US-41.
ARMED WITH A GUN. SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES SAY A MAN RIDING AS A PASSENGER, GOT OUT OF THE CAR, AND RAN FROM DEPUTIES. BEFORE A SHOOTING UNFOLDED.
SOT: "The vehicle pulled over a passenger of that vehicle is the one that left the car, ran from the scene, was armed and engaged deputies in an exchange of gunfire."
ACCORDING TO THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE, THE DEPUTY PULLED THAT CAR OVER BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED IT HAD JUST LEFT THE SCENE OF A LARGE FIGHT OUTSIDE OF A PLACE CALLED CADILLAC JACKS BAR AND GRILL ON US-41 NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF ISLAND PARK ROAD.
THAT'S WHERE BETWEEN 25 AND 50 PEOPLE WERE FIGHTING IN THE PARKING LOT.
SOT:" A rather large melee."
SHOTS HAD ALSO BEEN FIRED THERE, BUT NOBODY WAS HIT BY THOSE BULLETS.
AND THE ONLY PERSON INJURED BY THE SHOOTING WITH DEPUTIES WAS THE MAN WHO HAD BEEN SHOOTING AT THEM. WHO DIED ON THE SCENE.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
"More clouds than sun"
After a pretty nice day on Thursday, our Friday promises to be a bit cloudier as a slow moving cool front makes its way across Southwest Florida.
We had the clouds this morning along with a band of broken showers, and even a bit of fog across parts of Collier and Hendry counties all thanks to a weak cool front oozing down the peninsula. As this front stalls across our part of the state, more clouds than sunshine will remain in the forecast through the afternoon, with a few peaks of sun from time to time. Despite the cloud cover, temperatures will rebound into the middle and upper 70s later today. There is a chance for a brief stray shower anytime during the day, however the vast majority of us will stay dry as our week comes to a close.
Tonight, mostly cloudy skies will remain overhead with the possibility of a passing shower. Typical overnight lows should be in the middle 50s for this time of year, and tonight's numbers will be several degrees above that as they settle into the middle 60s.
The first half of the weekend looks to be a bit sunnier as this front begins to retreat northward. That means the warm and humid weather will continue with highs in the lower 80s. Sunday offers us our best rain chance as this front will get another push southbound with a few scattered showers during the late afternoon and carrying over into the evening hours. A lingering shower is not out of the question early Monday morning across our most southern locations with a clearing trend throughout the day. Don't expect much a cool down with this next front, as highs will stay near 80° with lows in the 60s.

YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF THE DANGERS LINKED TO DESIGNER DRUGS or BATH SALTS
NOW, THE U.S. NAVY IS FIGHTING THE PROBLEM WITH A NEW VIDEO. AND WE SHOULD WARN YOU, SOME OF THE IMAGES ARE DISTURBING.
NBC'S JIM MIKLASZEWSKI REPORTS.
Return to index of stories...
The NAVY video opens as if YOU are the young sailor about to embark on a terrifying, mind-bending trip -- snorting the synthetic drug -- BATH SALTS.
Your physical reaction is almost immediate.
You don't notice anything wrong, but others do.
But not for long.
"What is wrong with you?"
The threatening hallucinations begin.
"Are you sick or just stupid"
Your growing paranoia explodes into violence.
Back home even your roommate has turned demon.
Strapped to a hospital gurney the sailor continue to fight --
subdued only when heavily sedated.
Navy psychiatry resident, Lt. George Loeffler says violence
is one troublesome reaction to BATH SALTS.
Navy officials say the video was produced after an alarming spike
in the use of the designer drug by sailors last year.
Under the seemingly harmless name BATH SALTS, the crystal concoction is a
witches brew of different synthetic drugs, similar to amphetamines. Once legal, it's now banned by the DEA.
Some may think the Navy's video is OVER THE TOP. Not Mark Ryan, the Director of Louisiana's poison center.
Loeffler calls it one of the most serious psychotic disorders he's ever seen.

In Collier County, deputies need your help tracking down 49 year old Luis Jimenez, who failed to show back up in court after being arrested for the attempted sexual battery of a girl between the ages of 12 and 17. The victim told detectives that Jimenez came into her room in the middle of the night and engaged in very inappropriate acts. Once the girl found the courage to come forward, Jimenez was given a polygraph test regarding the charges. He failed, was immediately arrested, and then bonded out. He was supposed to show back up in court to address the charges but to this day is still a no show. Jimenez was last known to be living in the North Naples area, and could be working under the table to area food service establishments.
Also in Collier County, deputies are looking for 38 year old Maureen LaSalle. LaSalle, who has a history of drug possession and use, is on the run after failing to appear at her latest court date. Arrested and booked both as a white and black female, LaSalle is approximately 5'5" tall 150 lbs. A recent crime stoppers tip describes her as a Puerto Rican female who always dresses in black clothing. She was last known to be living in the Bonita Springs area, but also has ties to East Naples and Miami. LaSalle could be working in an office setting as this is her only listed occupation.
On the run in Lee County, is juvenile repeat offender Nehemiah Neal. Neal, 17, has failed to appear once again in court after his latest arrest this past November. A gang member with multiple tattoos including one on his neck that reads "Naomi", Neal has a long history of burglary and theft. It wasn't too long ago that Neal was on the Crime Stoppers Most Wanted list and he will likely earn a spot there again if he is not soon apprehended. With ties to the Sable Palms area of Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres, he is likely still in Lee County. Neal is 5'11" and 145 pounds and ironically goes by the name "Lil Saint".
And finally, someone who has been on Lee County's wanted fugitives list far too long. Regis Ferreira - wanted on a multitude of charges - including the grand theft of more than $5,000 from a local resident. Back in April of 2010, the victim hired Ferreira to install new cabinets and marble granite countertops. He gave him a deposit of $5,500 to purchase the materials and get started on the project. That check was promptly cashed, but no materials were ever purchased, and Ferreira hasn't been seen since. He has connections in both Lehigh and Cape Coral, but has vacated all known addresses, and it seems like he's completely dropped off the radar. Ferreria has two previous arrests - both for DUI - and both for which he has new warrants for violating probation and failing to show up in court. Ferreira is 5'8", 220 pounds and may be driving a white Ford van.
And as always is you know the whereabouts of any of the fugitives listed here today, call 1-800-780-TIPS. You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
