Workers rushed to see if Zola and Mramba escaped. The sleeping cats hadn't moved a muscle.

JUST ANNOUNCED THIS MORNING - SOMETHING THAT MAY AFFECT YOU IF YOU'RE A WOMAN USING A PRESCRIPTION SLEEPING PILL.
THE F-D-A IS REQUIRING MAKERS OF AMBIEN AND SIMILAR SLEEPING PILLS TO LOWER THE DOSAGE OF THEIR DRUGS, BASED ON STUDIES SUGGESTING PATIENTS FACE A HIGHER RISK OF INJURY DUE TO MORNING DROWSINESS.
THE POPULAR DRUGS REMAIN IN THE BLOOD AT LEVELS HIGH ENOUGH TO INTERFERE WITH DRIVING, INCREASING THE RISK OF CAR CRASHES.
THE GOVERNMENT IS ORDERING DRUG MAKERS TO CUT THE DOSE IN *HALF FOR WOMEN, WHO PROCESS THE DRUG MORE SLOWLY.
IT'S ALSO RECOMMENDED MAKERS USE LOWER DOSES FOR MEN, BUT IT WILL NOT BE MANDATORY.

SMOKERS IN SARASOTA COUNTY JUST GOT THE GO AHEAD TO LIGHT UP IN COUNTY PARKS AND BEACHES ONCE AGAIN.
A JUDGE RULED A BAN PLACED BY COUNTY COMMISSIONERS IS NOT ENFORCEABLE.
JIM SPIEWAK EXPLAINS THE CONFUSION.

"most beaches you could smoke on already, it wasn't enforced."
ALL PARKS AND BEACHES HAVE RULES… LIKE NO GLASS, NO CAMPING, NO ANIMALS. AND WHAT USED TO BE NO SMOKING IS NO MORE, OR AT LEAST IT'S NOT ENFORCEABLE BY LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT.
"I like it but I see why not to smoke on the beach to put the - cigarettes out."
THE CONFUSION STEMS FROM A 2003 FLORIDA LAW THAT ALLOWED SMOKE-FREE RESTAURANTS AND WORKPLACES.
SARASOTA COUNTY ATTORNEY STEVEN DEMARSH NOTIFIED SARASOTA COMMISSIONERS JUST THIS WEEK THAT A RECENT COURT DECISION DECLARED LOCAL GOVERNMENT DOES NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO BAN SMOKING IN PUBLIC OUTDOOR AREAS.
ONLY THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE CAN MAKE SUCH A BAN.
"Whether it's a smoking facility or non smoking facility I think that should be up to us locally."
WITH SIGNS ALREADY IN PLACE DENOTING NO SMOKING AREAS, COMMISSIONER CHARLES HINES SAYS HE KNOWS THE COUNTY NEEDS TO TAKE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION.
no super
"Unless you try to enforce it and within 1,000 feet of each school, its hard to go around to each park and look and see well does that exemption apply, so it really creates a mess."
THE NEWS IS WELCOMING FOR SMOKERS ON SIESTA KEY BEACH, WHICH WAS RECENTLY RATED #1 IN THE COUNTRY LARGELY ON THE NOTION THAT SMOKING IS BANNED.
"Now you can smoke on the beach and you don't have to walk all the way off the beach to some smoke a cigarette."
BUT OTHERS AREN'T AS HAPPY TO HEAR THE NEWS.
"I kinda wish they could enforce it. I don't like smoking I don't want to be on the beach and I don't want to find butts all in the sand."
SO THE NEXT TIME YOU SEE A SMOKER LIGHT ONE UP, KNOW THAT AT LEAST FOR NOW, THE LAW IS ON THEIR SIDE.
