Since williams and santos disappeared, law enforcement has received dozens of tips. One led them to this wooded area near wiggins pass around 6 months ago. mini pkg:

Big time celebrity tyler perry, reverend al sharpton and naacp president ben jealous in collier county to heat up two cold cases.

Ben jealous, naacp

47:04 this give us hope the only way to turn a cold case into a live case is to turn up the heat."

Perry announced a 100-thousand dollar reward for information leading to an arrest in the nearly decade old missing persons cases of 23 year old felipe santos and 29 year old terrance williams.

Both men disappeared within months of one another-- both were last seen alive by deputy calkins.

Tyler perry

1:32:35 should be outraged that this is happening in america in 2013. It is beyond offensive that someone, a deputy, Someone who is entrusted by us, the community, and two people both put in his car and disappeared 1:33:00

Calkins is a person of interest in the case--

He was fired after detectives say he was untruthful and uncooperative about the disappearances. He has since refused to talk but was never named a suspect.

Marcia williams, terrance williams mom

"48:58 we won't give up, you know I'll never give up. Terrance has four children, I have to have answers, I demand to have answers 49:08"

The williams and santos families-- along with the collier county sherriffs office are hoping todays renewed attention on the cases will encourage people to come forward with information.

FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

RECORD HEAT CONTINUES

We broke the record yesterday with a high of 88 degrees. The old record was 85 set back in 1974. That 88 also ties the all time warmest day in January.

This morning is starting off warm and through the day, we will be hot again. We'll see partly cloudy skies with only the small chance for a stray shower to come across our skies. High pressure keeps all of the big storms and cold fronts away from our area for at least the next week. It also means that southeasterly breeze will continue to send in warm, humid air. We will stay about 10 degrees above normal for the next few days. In fact, we'll be right around the record high of 86 degrees this afternoon and could tie or break that record. Through the next 7 day we'll stay warm with no good rain chances coming our way. Return to index of stories...

STOCKS CONTINUE TO CLIMB HIGHER TODAY WITH THE DOW UP 80 POINTS AND THE S&P 500 NOW UP OVER 3%.

WELLS FARGO ADVISOR NICK CHLUMSKY IS HERE TODAY TO TALK ABOUT THIS NEW YEAR FOR INVESTORS.

NICK WHERE DO YOU THINK THE OPPORTUNITIES WILL BE IN 2013? Return to index of stories...

WELLS FARGO ADVISORS-PLASMA

You know, 2012 was a tough year for investors. From the political news and noise out of Washington surrounding the fiscal cliff deal, to the presidential election, recession in Europe, a possible hard landing for the economy in China…the list goes on and on.

· But despite all this news and noise, equity markets here in the US did very, very well. The problem is that many investors sat on the sidelines underinvested and in cash and missed out on a great year for stocks. At the same time, they abandoned altogether exposure to international equities in developed and emerging markets.

· And this is an area where we think investors should pay closer attention to in the coming year. And here's why. Return to index of stories...

WELLS FARGO ADVISORS-CG

First, it appears that the gloomy fog in Europe is beginning to lift and that their economy is in a bottoming process right now. So from a valuation standpoint, it's probably a pretty good time to buy equities with exposure to European countries.

Second, the fear that China, the world's second largest economy, is going to make a hard landing I think is now fading away. Recent economic data coming out of China suggests that they are probably going to have a soft-landing and that their recent economic growth is sustainable into the future.

Third, although our analysts are forecasting are pretty decent year for US equities projecting a 7 to 10% increase in the S&P 500 in 2013, markets are already close to hitting their 5 year highs which might suggest that investors can get better valuations in equities coming out of countries in the EuroZone and China.

Last, fixed income investors have done very well in the last two calendar years. But that's only by virtue of the fact that interest rates have fallen to record lows. In fact just this last year, the 10 year treasury hit an all-time low of around 1.43%. With interest rates so low, investors will have to venture out of their comfort zone to continue generating the returns they have been used to in recent years.

And exposure to both international fixed income and international equities is a place you should consider. Now when we talk about adding international equities to your portfolio, we mean that only a part of your overall portfolio should be allocated to international stocks and bonds. Return to index of stories...

WELLS FARGO ADVISORS-PLASMA

Remember, developed and emerging market equities and fixed income tend to be more volatile than their US counterparts. So before you consider adding these to your retirement income plan, consult with your financial advisor to determine just how much exposure you should have and the risk and benefits associated with owning them. SCOTUS DRUNK DRIVING-VO

THE U-S SUPREME COURT WILL DECIDE IF POLICE CAN ORDER A BLOOD TEST FOR PEOPLE SUSPECTED OF DRUNKEN DRIVING WITHOUT USING A WARRANT.

A MISSOURI MAN PROMPTED THE DISCUSSION WHEN HE WAS STOPPED TWO YEARS AGO AND GIVEN A BLOOD TEST DESPITE HIS OBJECTIONS AND WITHOUT A WARRANT.

STATE COURTS ARE DIVIDED ON WHETHER THE TEST SHOULD BE USED AS EVIDENCE.

POLICE SAY THE MAN FAILED A SOBRIETY TEST AND REFUSED TO TAKE A BREATHALYZER. The U-S Supreme Court is considering whether police can order a blood test for drunken driving suspects without a warrant.

The court was clearly divided in oral arguments Wednesday.

The court is considering the appeal of Tyler McNeely, who was stopped two years ago for speeding in Missouri.

Police say he failed field sobriety tests, refused to take a breathalyzer test, and was given a blood test without a warrant, despite his objections.

State courts were subsequently divided over whether the test could be admitted as evidence, prompting the Supreme Court appeal.

FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

NEAR RECORD HEAT FOR ANOTHER WEEK

We broke the record yesterday with a high of 88 degrees. The old record was 85 set back in 1974. It also became the all time warmest day in January history for Southwest Florida.

High pressure is to blame for our near record heat. It's also keeping storms and cold fronts away from our area, and it'll continue to do so for at least the next week.

We will stay about 10 degrees above normal for the next few days. In fact, we'll be right around the record high of 86 degrees tomorrow afternoon. I wouldn't be surprised if we actually tie or even break that record.

Same story on Friday.

Through the next seven days, we'll stay warm with no good rain chances coming our way. It'll simply be partly sunny each afternoon with highs in the lower to mid 80s after starting off around 65 to 70 degrees.

As mentioned above our rain chances are very low. I don't expect any showers or storms for us, but with this type of heat one or two rogue showers cannot be completely ruled out. We all discovered that on Tuesday!

Thankfully if one does pop up… It'll last less than 10 minutes. As you can see this is a pattern that gives us weather tantamount to summer. Return to index of stories...

SAVING THE WHALES-PKG

A pod of killer whales trapped under the ice in Canada's frozen north may have freed themselves.

Tribal elders say a break in the weather created a break in the ice, freeing the trapped whales.

The whales had been stuck under the thick arctic ice for days, each taking turns to breathe through a hole considered tiny. given how big they are.

The opening was in the middle of a massive ice field. with the nearest open water miles away.

The town's mayor first sounded the alarm, asking the government to send ice breakers to free the whales, because their hole was shrinking.

"We are very concerned. Icebreaker is the only option, but there is no icebreaker around here presently."

The Canadian government dispatched a team of scientists and researchers to the area to see what could have been done.

And with no icebreakers nearby, officials said the only hope for the whales survivival would have been a lucky break in the weather.

And it looks like that's exactly what happened.
