Fame and money--
Big names hoping to bring answers and justice in two collier county cold cases.
Tyler perry:
"1:33:30 this is injustice and we have the power to change this."
Tyler perry, the reverend al sharpton and naacp president ben jealous announced a 100thousand dollar reward for any information leading to an arrest in the disappearances of 23 year old felipe santos and 29 year terrance williams.
Both men disappeared within months of one another-- both were last seen being put into deputy steve calkins patrol car nearly 10 years ago. The cases remain unsolved, and a constant source of pain for their families.
Marcia williams, terrance williams mom
"48:58 we won't give up, you know I'll never give up. Terrance has four children, I have to have answers."
Within seconds of perrys announcement, a man stood up in front of the cameras, in tears-- claiming he has information.
He says until now, he feared coming forward.
Anonymous man:
"1:34:13 fear for my safety 15"
Tyler perry:
"1:35:40 I have been praying for an answer for this family and I wasn't expecting this moment and I am beyond overwhelmed by it. I am grateful that just like this man has come forward that there are others
and you don't have to be afraid 54"
Detective Kevin O'Neill, collier county sheriffs office:
"1:20 that's what this is all about, hoping to get new info to bring the investigation to next level and well see what this gentleman knows 30"
Dozens of tips have come in to the collier county sherriffs office since the men disappeared--
The detective on both cases tells nbc2 whenever the story is in the media-- he gets calls. So far none have helped crack the case.
Calkins remains a person of interest-- but isn't cooperating.
He was fired from the department after lying about the disappearances-- but was never named a suspect.
O'neil:
"3:55 you need evidence, you need probable cause to arrest someone. We all have a feeling that something is not right but that does not make the criteria in a criminal courtroom 06"

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
NEAR RECORD HEAT FOR ANOTHER WEEK
We broke the record yesterday with a high of 88 degrees. The old record was 85 set back in 1974. It also became the all time warmest day in January history for Southwest Florida.
High pressure is to blame for our near record heat. It's also keeping storms and cold fronts away from our area, and it'll continue to do so for at least the next week.
We will stay about 10 degrees above normal for the next few days. In fact, we'll be right around the record high of 86 degrees tomorrow afternoon. I wouldn't be surprised if we actually tie or even break that record.
Same story on Friday.
Through the next seven days, we'll stay warm with no good rain chances coming our way. It'll simply be partly sunny each afternoon with highs in the lower to mid 80s after starting off around 65 to 70 degrees.
As mentioned above our rain chances are very low. I don't expect any showers or storms for us, but with this type of heat one or two rogue showers cannot be completely ruled out. We all discovered that on Tuesday!
Thankfully if one does pop up… It'll last less than 10 minutes. As you can see this is a pattern that gives us weather tantamount to summer.
