LANCE ARMSTRONG.ALREADY STRIPPED OF HIS SEVEN TOUR DE FRANCE TITLES. BECAUSE OF HIS DOPING. THAT HE DENIED FOR YEARS.

.UP UNTIL HIS INTERVIEW MONDAY WITH OPRAH WINFREY.

"we were mesmerized and riveted by some of his answers"

WINFREY SAID ON CBS' THIS MORNING. THAT ARMSTRONG OBVIOUSLY CAME TO THE INTERVIEW READY TO CONFESS THAT HE TOOK PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS DURING HIS RECORD-SETTING CAREER.

"I went prepared to dig and pull / I didn't have to, he was pretty forthcoming"

WINFREY SAID ARMSTRONG WAS TEARFUL AT TIMES.ARGUED THAT DOPING WAS ONLY LEVELING THE PLAYING FIELD. AND THAT THE AUDIENCE WOULD HAVE TO DECIDE WHETHER HE'S TRULY CONTRITE.

.WHILE OTHERS WHO'VE WRITTEN ABOUT HIM ALREADY HAVE THEIR DOUBTS.

"I believe that he is completely insincere except for this. he is starting to repair his own brand"

ANY EFFORT TO RESURRECT HIS BRAND MIGHT BE IMPEDED, THOUGH, BY THOSE ARMSTRONG ATTACKED FOR ATTACKING HIM OVER THE YEARS.

LIKE THE LONDON NEWSPAPER HE SUCCESSFULLY SUED FOR $500,000 FOR DEFAMATION.

.OR BY THE SPONSORS WHO PAID HIM HANDSOMELY TO WEAR THEIR BRAND.

"I'm sure that his contracts had a moral clause and a specific claus banning the use of illegal drugs and providing for the money to be returned"

"well if it can't be clearer than i've never taken drugs."

THE CONFESSION COULD ALSO LEAD TO CRIMINAL PERJURY CHARGES AGAINST ARMSTRONG FOR LYING DURING LEGAL DEPOSITIONS.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Our warm spell has lasted for over a week, and it looks like our warmer than average temperatures will hold on for a few more days before some changes take place.

Our Tuesday will dawn bright and sunny with comfortable conditions as temperatures will start off in the lower 60s with a few 50s deeper inland. We may even see a few spots with patchy fog, which should lift fairly quickly after sunrise. With plenty of sunshine through to first half of the day, afternoon highs are on track to reach the lower half of the 80s. With the daytime heating, we'll see a few fair weather cumulus clouds dotting our skies during the day, and with rain prospects remaining less than 10% a mainly dry radar is expected.

The strong area of high pressure that has been the dominant feature in our weather pattern will hang on for the next few days. This will keep our skies mostly to partly sunny and highs running 8 to 10 degrees above the average.

A strong upper level disturbance across Texas will move eastbound across the northern gulf coast states weakening our ridge of high pressure, which will signal some changes that should begin to take shape by Thursday. As winds take more of a southerly turn, a bit more humidity will be in place across Southwest Florida leading to a couple of isolated showers.

Our skies will see a few more cloudy periods on Friday as a cold front eventually sags south across the state. As the front fades and pulls away from the peninsula, some cooler and drier air will filter down the state. Highs will be closer to average in the 70s and lows in the 50s, with the possibility of some chillier air arriving by the middle of next week. Return to index of stories...

POLICE OFFICERS WILL TELL YOU, THEY SPEND MOST OF THEIR TIME REACTING TO CRIME.

BUT WHAT IF YOU COULD PREDICT WHERE AND WHEN CRIMES COULD OCCUR.

CRIME PREVENTION-PKG

IN A DIGITAL WORLD WHERE A POLICE COMPUTER SCREEN DISPLAYS LOCATIONS OF CRIME IN REAL TIME,

THE NEXT STEP IS PREDICTING IT.

"So what we're trying to do is prevent that crime."

AT THE WHEEL OF THE LAPD BLACK AND WHITE IS SGT. TOM GAHRY. AND WHERE HE'S HEADED IS AN AREA IN PACOIMA INDICATED BY A COMPUTER PROGRAM, PINPOINTED DOWN TO AN AREA 500 FEET SQUARE ON A MAP, IT SHOWS UP AS A BOX.

"The computer is telling us they're predicting a crime in that box within a certain time period."

IT'S CALLED PREDICTIVE POLICING. "PREDPOL". AND LAPD FIRST BEGAN TESTING IT LATE IN 2011.

"I'm convinced that predictive policing works."

COMMANDING OFFICER SEAN MALINOWSKI WORKED WITH THE UCLA TEAM THAT DEVELOPED IT. OFFICERS GET A MISSION MAP AT BEGINNING OF SHIFT. THE GOAL, BETWEEN OTHER DUTIES IS TO WORK THE BOXES. DETERRENCE DEEMED AS VALUABLE AS AN ARREST.

"We ask them to use their knowledge skills and experience to prevent the crime from occurring."

"I think they should really utilize that program."

WHAT THE COMPUTER CANNOT REPLACE IS WHAT OFFICERS LEARN ON THE STREET. PATROL CAPT. STEPHEN CARMONA:

"We also have to listen the word on the street from our seasoned officers, and from the arrestees, from the detectives. and the homeowners from the partnerships we've built up through the years."

PREDICTIVE POLICING HAS SPREAD TO SEVEN MORE OF LAPD'S 21 GEOGRAPHIC DIVISIONS. CHIEF BECK SAID HE HOPES TO ROLL IT OUT FURTHER THIS COMING YEAR. Return to index of stories...

SCRIPT:

THE RED CARPET SIZZLED AT THE GOLDEN GLOBES, AS OUR FAVORITE STARS DAZZLED

US WITH COLOR, COUTURE, AND CLEAVAGE!

FASHION FORWARD STARS LIKE CLAIRE DANES KATHARINE MCPHEE AND AMY POEHLERTOOK

THE PLUNGE. THE V NECK PLUNGE THAT IS.

18:07:48- The plunging V neck line was so hot at the Golden Globes because

it really is a different way of baring skin. Its cut down, almost down to

your navel. And it's sexy but there's also a subtly about it.

OTHER LADIES WENT A DIFFERENT ROUTEINSTEAD OF A LOW NECKTHEY OPTED FOR A VA-

VA- VOOOM cut up to there-- PEEK AT THE LEG.

SOT-**18:08:19- That's also a really big trend that we've been seeing. We

saw that last season and I feel like the slits are getting even higher this

season.

AS FOR HAIR- THE LATEST UP-DO INVOLVES A LOT OF TWISTS

***BRAID** 18:13:26- a braid especially a milk maid braid, it frames the

face, it adds volume and it lifts everything up without a stitch of botox.

SureHollywood stars pull these looks off flawlessly. But what about those of

us who aren't HOLLYWOOD Starlets?

WE VOLUNTEERED SAMANTHA TRENKA 32 YEAR WORKING MOM so that OUR FRIENDS AT

LUCKY MAGAZINE could SHOW US HOW REAL WOMEN CAN PULL OFF THESE DARING RED

CARPET LOOKS.

JC-18:20:56- Ok so why is this not a good option?

18:20:59- So for Sam, this is showing a little bit too much skin. You can

see the deep V neck line. You can see that it's sleeveless. And then also

she doesn't even have tights on.

**wipe**

18:15:55- There is a very fine line but again it goes always back to

balancing. 18:15:58- Because Samantha here has a V plunging neck line we

wanted to make sure that the rest of her was nice and covered up.

**wipe**

JUJU STAND UP-

18:24:16- For women a woman of a certain age, don't be afraid to show a

little skin. You can always go plunging, in a different place.

**wipe**

JC- Now why does this work as a plungy black tie for a normal woman?

LB- 18:18:05- So you get all of the sexy effect of the plunging v-neck. But

then you get sort of the safety net if you willof that illusion panel which

keeps everything in place and it gives you that extra barrier so you don't

feel as exposed.

**wipe**

18:26:27-JC- Because its plunging down to hear and cut up to here it might

be a little too much skin?

LB- 18:26:31- She's got the plunging V-neck but then also she has this slit

in the leg here./it is very trendy but you don't want to do them together.

PREEMIE ASTHMA-VO

ASTHMA IS THE MOST COMMON CHRONIC ILLNESS IN CHILDREN, AND LOW BIRTHWEIGHT WAS THOUGHT TO BE A RISK FACTOR.

A NEW STUDY SHOWS THAT MAY NOT BE THE CASE.

THEY FOUND THE ASTHMA RATES DID NOT DIFFER GREATLY BETWEEN THE TWO GROUPS.

THEY SAY LOW BIRTHWEIGHT DOES NOT APPEAR TO INCREASE THE RISK FOR ASTHMA IN THE FIRST SIX YEARS OF LIFE. Return to index of stories...

MALE BIRTH CONTROL-PKG

IT'S A DAILY ROUTINE FOR A LOT OF WOMEN

"I started taking birth control when I was 16."

"Around 14."

NOW RESEARCHERS ARE WORKING ON BIRTH CONTROL, FOR MEN.

THE DIFFICULT PART?

MEN MAKE 1,000 SPERM A SECOND. TO BE AN EFFECTIVE CONTRACEPTIVE, SPERM COUNT HAS TO GO DOWN TO ZERO.

"I think it's important to have more choices."

MICHAEL LEHMANN HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN FIVE TESTOSTERONE-BASED CLINICAL TRIALS.

HE'S TAKEN DAILY PILLS, MONTHLY INJECTIONS, A CREAM HE RUBBED ON HIS SHOULDER, AND EVEN HAD AN IMPLANT.

"There were very minor side effects, um, I had some slight acne on my scalp."

BUT TESTOSTERONE COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF HEART DISEASE AND PROSTATE CANCER. THAT'S WHY DR. JOHN AMORY IS BLOCKING VITAMIN A IN THE TESTICLES, WHICH IN TURN BLOCKS THE DEVELOPMENT OF SPERM.

"I decided to explore ways of suppressing sperm without using hormones."

Tests in mice show it works 100 percent of the time. But still, some doctors are skeptical.

"A male contraceptive? I don't think women will trust it." Return to index of stories...
