PRESIDENT OBAMA SOT:
TO HELP MAKE HIS CASE - THE PRESIDENT HAD CHILDREN ON STAGE WITH HIM.
THESE KIDS WROTE LETTERS TO THE WHITE HOUSE WITH THEIR SUGGESTIONS ON GUN CONTROL.8-YEAR OLD GRANT FROM MARYLAND WHO WROTE, "THERE SHOULD BE A LIMIT ABOUT HOW MANY GUNS A PERSON CAN OWN."
THE PRESIDENT DID NOT RECOMMEND THAT SPECIFIC IDEA.BUT DID SUGGEST UNIVERSAL BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR GUN PURCHASES.
A BAN ON HIGH-CAPACITY MAGAZINES.
AND A RENEWED BAN ON SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLES, MORE COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS ASSAULT WEAPONS.
A NEW ABC NEWS-WASHINGTON POST POLL THIS WEEK FOUND THAT A MAJORITY OF
AMERICANS SUPPORT THOSE SPECIFIC ACTIONS.

It's something parents aren't used to seeing as they pick up their kids from hector caffersta elementary school:
A lee county sheriffs deputy in uniform.
Sot Barbara giglan, parent
I think it's a really good idea, I think that it makes the kids feel safer knowing that there's somebody there."
Sot rob beauchene, parent
I feel a little bit safer, knowing that if somebody wants to act stupid then somebody will be there to counteract that."
Starting today-
10 officers will rotate between 44 of lee county's elementary schools.
Sot Patrick Hayhurst
Lee Co. Schools Director of Security
" we can only do so much with locks and windows and doors and stuff like that but we felt that the presence here is not only moorland for securi, but tis good for the kids bc all the sros are trained highly and have an educational background."
These officers- reassigned to be school resource officers from the youth services revision of the lee county sheriffs office.
Sot tc tyus, school resource office
" we're going to cover all the elementary schools to do the job."
Their job- not affecting budgets this school year.
Sot Patrick
It's not costing the school district or the sheriff any more money at the moment, however that's just for the movement bc the people they took away to have other responsibilities."
The cost, and number of officers could change.
More officers- something these parents say they want their tax dollars to go toward.
Sot don Rutledge, parent
I think they should have 2, I don't think ones enough."
Sot Barbara
I think there should be one at every single school."

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
The forecast calls for changing weather starting tomorrow. The balance of our evening will be mostly clear with mild 60's and a little fog again tomorrow morning. The first half of Thursday will be mostly sunny once again with a high in the mid to upper 70's. In the afternoon we will start to track some rain showers moving in from the west. Skies should cloud-up after lunchtime and some showers will cross the area around 2:00 p.m. The rain showers forecast should not last all afternoon and move through quickly. I expect that most places will receive less than ¼ inch of rain tomorrow. The winds will increase by late day and southwest Florida boaters should be aware that the weather tomorrow morning will be nice, but turn windy and rough by the end of the day. Our highs in the 70's will quickly drop back to the 60's by sunset and we are going down to 50 degrees by Friday morning.
The extended outlook for the weekend looks cool with variable clouds overhead. High temperatures both Saturday and Sunday will be in the 70's and overnight lows throughout the area will noticeably cooler this weekend.
The aforementioned cold front coming in tomorrow won't bring a lot of rain; however, we will certainly notice a drop in temperatures for the next several days.
