THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
SLIGHT COOL DOWN ON THE WAY
Over the past few days, the clouds have definitely won out over the sunshine, but that is all going to change as a swift moving cold front pushes over the area tonight.
So yes changes are looming for us. The cold front will traverse Southwest Florida and sweep away the clouds and humidity. Anticipate on cooler and drier air filtering down the peninsula during the afternoon. This will lead to a partly sunny day with temperatures in the mid 70s after starting off in the mid 50s.
A chilly dome of high pressure will build over Florida in the front's wake. It will push its way down the plains states and keep our skies mostly sunny with comfortable humidity levels through Thursday. We'll even have to break out the sweaters and jackets Wednesday and Thursday morning with lows dipping into the upper 40s to lower 50s.
Temperatures will continue to run in the 50s in the morning, but a gradual warming trend is expected from Thursday in the weekend. Highs will creep back into the upper 70s.
Another cold front is scheduled to pass through our part of the state early Saturday. It'll be a dry front meaning no showers are expected with it. In fact we're not forecasting any rain for the rest of the month!
I'm forecasting another cool down for you with our next front, too. It may get a little chilly with temperatures getting down into the lower 40s during the morning hours of Sunday, and they'll struggle to get pass 75 during the afternoon.

IT'S THE KIND OF FOOD WE GRAB BECAUSE IT'S QUICK AND FRANKLY, KIDS ASK FOR IT.
NOW A NEW STUDY OF MORE THAN 500,000 KIDS IN OVER 50 COUNTRIES LINKS FAST FOOD TO SEVERE ASTHMA, HAY FEVER AND ECZEMA.
"It is an enormous survey it is quite impressive and consistent with other surveys that have been done in the past several years."
PUBLISHED IN THE JOURNAL THORAX, THE STUDY SAID KIDS WHO EAT FAST FOOD THREE TIMES OR MORE A WEEK HAD APPROXIMATELY 30% INCREASED RISK IN DISEASE SEVERITY.
DR. JOHN SWEET IS AN ALLERGIST.
"It was interesting that they found the same effects over many different countries."
"It's important to make clear that this study does not say that fast food causes asthma, eczema or hay fever. It does suggest that it may make the severity of these conditions worse."
"Asthma, eczema and hay fever are all results of the body's immune system over reacting to things it should ignore."
ON THE FLIP SIDE, RESEARCHERS FOUND A REDUCTION IN SEVERITY FOR KIDS WHO ATE FRUIT AT LEAST THREE TIMES A WEEK. DR. SWEET SAYS THAT'S BECAUSE FRUIT AND VEGETABLES ARE FULL OF ANTI-OXIDANTS.
"Its believed a decreased consumption of these anti-oxidants can affect the airway in some way though its not clearly understood at this time."
AND HE SAYS WHEN KIDS FILL UP WITH FAST FOOD, THEY DON'T EAT AS MUCH OF THE FRUIT AND VEGGIES WHICH COULD BE MAKING THEM FEEL BETTER.

These products can contain, roughly, 160-215 mg of caffeine. Thats about triple found in soft drinks, and twice as much as a regular coffee. Mix in other ingredients and in some people it may become a toxic cocktail.

3:44 And it's sitting right next to the can of soda. It's sitting right next to the sports drinks which have some benefits for electrolytes. These have no electrolytes they have all the caffeine, the guarana that turns into caffeine. It's unregulated because it's not branded to soda and it's not branded as anything in the food industry.

ANOTHER CONCERN IS WHETHER TEENS AND YOUNGER KIDS SHOULD BE DRINKING THEM AT ALL.

1:35 They have a smaller body size than adults. And so the caffeine will have more milligrams in their body system for how much they weigh and this will have more safety concerns and more negative side effects for those children or adolescence than for any adult.
COUPLED WITH A LACK OF INFORMATION AND REGULATION, IT'S SAFE TO SAY THESE ENERGY DRINKS MAY BE TOO HARD-WIRED FOR KIDS. FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM, I'M AMY OSHIER.
