INAUGURATION DAY-PKG

"I Barack Hussein Obama"

PRESIDENT OBAMA TAKES THE STAGE THIS MORNING HAVING ALREADY BEEN SWORN IN AT THE WHITE HOUSE SUNDAY.

"The last one was kind of fast, so we've all agreed we're going to breathe in and enjoy it."

SO THEY'RE PULLING UP THE TEMPORARY PLASTIC THIS MORNING. AS HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS WITNESS THE SECOND INAUGURATION OF AMERICA'S FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT.

"It means a whole lot because it's something that I never fathomed."

DESPITE BUDGET BATTLES AND TOUGH APPROVAL RATINGS. PRESIDENT OBAMA STILL HOLDS STAR-POWER HERE.

MANY TRAVELED HUNDREDS OF MILES. JUST TO GET A GLIMPSE:

"He leaned forward and waved - I SAW his face DIRECTLY - and it just made me happy."

AT A RECEPTION LAST NIGHT, THE PRESIDENT HAD SOME ADVICE FOR THOSE STANDING HOURS IN THE COLD TODAY:

".be sure to bundle up.tomorrow's not as cold as it was four years ago."

HERE'S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU'LL SEE TODAY:

EIGHT PARADE FLOATS - HONORING THE FIRST AND SECOND FAMILIES' HOME STATES. AND CIVIL RIGHTS.

RICHARD BLANCO - THE FIRST LATINO - AND FIRST OPENLY GAY - INAUGURAL POET:

"I think that sense of unity is what I want to bring across."

AND PERHAPS NO ONE'S MORE EXCITED THAN THE FIFTH GRADERS FROM NEW YORK'S PUBLIC SCHOOL 22. THEY'RE SINGING THIS MORNING.

"REALLY excited!"

"It's gonna be GOOD!"

THOUSANDS OF EXTRA SECURITY OFFICERS HAVE BEEN SWORN IN:

THERE'S A 30-MILE NO-FLY ZONE OVER THE CITY.

150 CITY BLOCKS AROUND THE CAPITOL. SHUT DOWN:

"We have to be prepared for everything, so that's the way we do it."

THE END OF MONTHS OF PLANNING. THE BEGINNING OF A NEW TERM - OR AS THE VICE PRESIDENT PUT IT:

"Something else about this guy Barack Obama - he's just getting started."

audio outcue: Tracie Potts, NBC News, WASHINGTON. Return to index of stories...

6:02 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"Warm today, cooler tomorrow"

Over the past few days, the clouds have definitely won out over the sunshine. With not much variation in our weather pattern, expect similar conditions for your Monday.

Despite the cloudiness yesterday, we saw just enough sunshine to warm us up into the upper 70s. Once again this morning, low clouds will greet us by sunrise with areas of fog developing across parts of Southwest Florida, which could be thick in some spots especially deeper inland. Temperatures will start off quite mild as most of us will begin our day in the lower to middle 60s with light winds.

Through the day, we'll see a good mix of clouds with some sunshine breaking out from time to time. With an northeasterly wind flow in place, afternoon highs are still on track to climb into the upper 70s. With above average temperatures and plenty of low level moisture, there is a slim chance of a stray shower or two, but with rain prospects less than 20% much of the area will stay dry.

Changes will be coming down the pike later tonight with the arrival of a cold front. Mostly cloudy skies will remain in the forecast tonight with a few leftover clouds through mid day Tuesday. This front will sweep away the clouds and humidity, with cooler and drier air filtering down the peninsula during the afternoon.

A chilly dome of high pressure will push its way down the plains states keeping our skies mostly sunny with comfortable humidity levels. We'll even have to break out the sweaters and jackets Wednesday and Thursday morning with lows dipping into the upper 40s to lower 50s here in town. Despite lots of sunshine through the middle part of the week, afternoon highs will stay in the lower half of the 70s, with a gradual warming trend through Friday.

Another cold front is scheduled to pass through our part of the state early Saturday with a few showers and the possibility of some colder weather by Sunday. Stay tuned! Return to index of stories...

6:32 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL
