THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
COOL NIGHTS MILD DAYS
High clouds most of the day kept us from reaching the mid 70's this afternoon. A northerly breeze tonight will help drop our temperatures this evening to the lower 50's. Some readings in the upper 40's will be on the inland thermometers by tomorrow morning. The high clouds and overcast skies should give way to a mostly sunny day tomorrow bringing our daytime highs back to the mid 70's on Wednesday. In fact, the overall weather picture looks mostly sunny for the next few days. Highs will be just shy of 80 degrees and overnight lows will continue to be in the cool 50's; however, with the clear weather at night there could be many places still dipping in the mid to upper 40's once again on Thursday morning.
The forecast weather maps show a weak front passing to the north of our area on Saturday and mainly dry and comfortable weather remains in place this weekend. The long-range outlook shows me a bit of a warm-up next week and it seems reasonable to forecast some 80 degree weather coming back by next Monday. Rain showers stay out of the picture for the next several days.

THE S&P 500 HIT ANOTHER FIVE YEAR HIGH TODAY AND NOW UP NEARLY 5% YEAR TO DATE.
STOCKS APPEAR TO BE STEAMING AHEAD IN THE NEW YEAR AND TREATING RISK TAKERS VERY WELL.
BUT NICK, WHAT'S IN STORE FOR INTEREST RATES IN 2013 AND HOW WILL THAT IMPACT OUR VIEWERS?
Return to index of stories...
Well first, for all of the economic and political uncertainty that we faced in the past year, particularly with the fiscal cliff negotiations, stocks have done exceedingly well. In fact, since last January, that is January of 2012, stocks are up over 20%.
· Now, while equity investors are laughing all the way to the bank, fixed income investors on the other hand are still crying the blues and probably will be for the foreseeable future. And if you are the more conservative investor who is more comfortable buying bank CDs or other short term fixed income securities, 2013 will probably be another dull year for yields and overall returns again.
Return to index of stories...
And this is because the Federal Reserve has pledged to keep their target interest rate at near-zero until at least the middle of 2015 and until unemployment falls below 6.5% in an attempt to continue stimulating a sluggishly growing US economy. That being the case, there's a pretty good likelihood we could continue to see challenged, low short term rates for the next three to five years.
So for those of you who are finding it difficult making your retirement income plan work with fixed income securities you've held in the past and have been comfortable with, you may just have to venture out of your comfort zone a bit to find fixed income products that will generate a higher yield and thus more retirement income.
Going back ten, fifteen, or twenty years ago, generating an 8 to 10% yield buying CDs wasn't very difficult to do. And it didn't mean taking a lot of risk or putting together a retirement income plan with your financial advisor.
Today, on the other hand, you will more than likely have to take on more risk than you ever have before, to make your retirement plan work.
And knowing this, it's more important than ever, that you work with someone who can help you navigate through the world of fixed income and all of the risks that come with investing in a zero-interest rate environment and soon to be a rising interest rate environment.
Unfortunately, we now find ourselves at the tail end of a 30 year bond bull market.
Having said that, for those of you who already have a fixed income portfolio in place, set up a time to meet with your financial advisor and better understand the different risks associated with your portfolio.
The most significant of these risks is interest rate risk…in other words, the risk that when interest rates start rising, that your portfolio will actually start losing value.
Return to index of stories...
· For those of you who aren't generating enough retirement income with CDs anymore and need to venture into other areas of fixed income, meet with a financial advisor who can build a retirement income plan that will be appropriate for both your investment objective and more importantly, your risk tolerance.

The impact of a stroke can be catastrophic to the brain. Studies show about 1-million nerve cells die every minute. That's why researchers looked for ways to expand treatment options. One of the most cutting edge- is the to surgically remove the clot from the blood vessel.

5:00 We thought of what else can we do that goes beyond the community standard to give our patients in the community the best quality of care that they could possibly get. Well the answer is thrombectomy.
THROMBECTOMY, ALSO CALLED CLOT RETRIEVAL, MAY BE AN OPTION FOR PATIENTS WHO ARE TIMING OUT ON THE CLOT BUSTING DRUG, BUT STILL HAVE SALVAGEABLE BRAIN. THE DELICATE PROCEDURE IS PERFORMED BY AN ENDOVASCULAR SURGEON.

8:11 Sometimes what he does is administer that TPA substance clot buster while he's attempting to retrieve the clot. So this is state-of-the-art technique that really isn't available in a lot of places around the nation. And we've started to implement these protocols now.
THE CUTTING EDGE PROCEDURE IS BEING ESTABLISHED WITHIN THE STROKE UNIT AT GULFCOAST MEDICAL CENTER.

FORECAST OPEN
Return to index of stories...
