ALLEY AX NEW INFO-PKG

A douglas family photo snapped just two weeks before the picture perfect family was torn apart by tragedy.

"2:16 debilitating. It's almost a feeling of not wanting to continue. it's just a horrific situation."

33-year-old cecilia douglas and her two daughters- 3 year old riley and 4 year old madison were killed after their car crashed into a canal on alligator alley monday morning.

The trooper first on scene-- gualberto morales-- tied himself to a tree and jumped in to try and save the girls. He used a shatter tool to try and break the windows open-- but couldn't.

"8:05 how could you go on after that?"

Their father-- nathan douglas, is left with an unimaginable loss.

The former funeral director moved his family from eustis, in central florida,to immokalee-- to accept a job with fwc in 2010. Co-workers describe nathan as a fun loving guy-- part of their collier crew softball team.

As a wildlife officer, nathan would regularly patrol alligator alley--

He wasn't working monday morning when his wifes car crashed upside down into a canal.

Jorge:

4:50 I don't know how he's gonna be able to just put his uniform on and get back to work 56 he's a first responder, so were used to doing this and were used to responding to tragedies and helping people but were not that used to turning the tables and we be the victims 5:07

When nathan heard of the accident he called fwc dispatch to ask for the cars tag number-- that's when he found out it was his wifes car submerged in the canal.

3:42 were all just at a loss for words, were lost, we just can't believe that this happened. Return to index of stories...

WE'RE BREAKING NEW DETAILS AT SIX ON THE RAID OF THREE COLLIER COUNTY PHARMACIES TODAY --

NBC2 WAS THERE AS DEA AGENTS RAIDED "SUNSHINE PHARMACIES" --ON NINTH STREET NORTH, DAVIS BOULEVARD AND RATTLE SNAKE HAMMOCK ROAD.

NBC 2'S RICK RITTER JOINS US WITH MORE DETAILS ON THE INVESTIGATION-- RICK, YOU JUST OFF THE PHONE WITH D-E-A AGENTS? Return to index of stories...

PHARMACY RAID-REM26-LIVE

THIS IS BRAND NEW INFORMATION - WE JUST FOUND OUT SUNSHINE PHARMACY HAS VOLUNTARY SURRENDERED THEIR D-E-A REGISTRATION - WHAT THAT MEANS IS ALMOST ALL CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES ARE OFF IT'S SHELVES - LEAVING MANY WONDERING HOW IT'S PHARMACIES WILL REMAIN OPEN. Return to index of stories...

PHARMACY RAID-PKG

WHAT STARTED OUT AS A RAID LAST WEEK - CARRIED ON TODAY WITH MORE FEDERAL AGENTS IN NAPLES.

SUNSHINE PHARMACY HAS THREE LOCATIONS - AND D-E-A AGENTS HIT ALL THREE ON THURSDAY - WIPING OUT ALMOST ALL OF ITS CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES.

NBC-2 SPOKE WITH AGENTS ON THE CASE WHO SAY THAT THE PHARMACY VOLUNATRILY SURRENDED THEIR D-E-A REGISTRATION.

WHAT THAT MEANS IS CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES 2 THROUGH 5 WERE TAKEN OF THE PHARMACIES SHELVES - MEDICATIONS SUCH AS OXI-CODDON AND XANEX.

LAST WEEK - WE OBTAINED A LETTER SHOWING THAT SUNSHINE OWNER DEL PARRISH AND HIS MOTHER PATRICIA ARE BEING INVESTIGATED FOR ENGAGING IN A SCHEME TO DEFRAUD MEDICARE PART D PROVIDERS.

13:28:29 "It's just bad to take advantage of people on Medicare you know? And the system that provides it."

D-E-A AGENTS TELL ME SUNSHINE CAN STILL SELL OTHER MEDICATIONS - BUT IT CAN BE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO OPERATE A PHARMACY WITHOUT CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES.

13:28:15 "Now it all kind of makes sense because they haven't always had the items I looked for so it kind of adds up to me."

SUNSHINES LOCATION ON RATTLESNAKE HAMMOCK ROAD HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN SINCE LAST WEEKS RAID - BUT IT'S OTHER LOCATIONS REMAIN OPEN FOR NOW.

11:39:33 "You don't know who you're living next to - it's a different world today." Return to index of stories...

PHARMACY RAID-REM26-LIVE

WE TRIED REACHING OUT TO THE PARRISH'S BY PHONE BUT THEY DIDN'T ANSWER.

D-E-A AGENTS TELL ME THAT EVEN AFTER TODAY - THIS ENTIRE INVESTIGATION IS STILL ONGOING.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

SUNNY AND WARM DAYS AHEAD

After a few cloudy days across Southwest Florida the sunshine is back, and it is here to stay!

Temperatures overnight will dip down to near 50 here in town with much colder readings deeper inland and across our far northern communities. This is all due to a clear sky and a calm when. That will translate to a lot of sunshine for Friday and afternoon highs are destined to climb into the middle 70s as a result. A light breeze out of the northeast will keep the day feeling pretty nice with comfortable humidity values.

A nice bubble of dry high pressure will continue to settle in from the northwest through the end of the week. This will keep our weather pattern mostly sunny and free of any rain through the majority of next week. We'll also see a gradual warming trend as this cooler airmass begins to moderate. How do the low 80s sound as we head into February?

I'll take that any day!

A weakening cool front will approach the area for the first weekend of February. It'll eventually wash out, but the front will likely come close enough for us to see a few more clouds by Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will warm into the upper 70s during the daytime after overnight lows in the 50s. Return to index of stories...
