Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
"Turning breezy and cooler"
After several days in the 80s, changes are coming to Southwest Florida as a cold front approaches the area this morning in a weakened state. Our Thursday will start with a bit more cloud cover than what we've seen in recent days and it will be quite mild with temperatures in the 60s. We'll see a few showers working their way in across the peninsula very early in the morning with clearing skies as we go through the day.
Winds will take more of a northwesterly turn with cooler and much drier air filtering down the state. This will keep our afternoon temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s, but with breezy winds gusting near 25 mph it will feel even cooler.
Through the evening, temperatures will fall pretty quickly under clear skies with most of the area in the middle 40s first thing Friday.
High pressure will build in from the northwest with a tranquil weather pattern setting up for Friday with plenty of sunshine. Highs will stay in the lower 70s and humidity levels will be rather low making it feel very comfortable during the day.
It will be another beautiful weekend here across Southwest Florida with chilly mornings and milder afternoons. Morning lows will hover in the upper 40s to low 50s, while daytime highs climb into the middle 70s under mostly sunny skies. Our warming trend will continue through the middle of next week as temperatures warm back into the upper 70s by Wednesday.
