It's impossible to use our traditional revenues.
After building a brand new ball park for the Boston red sox - and committing to a 45 million dollar overhaul to the Minnesota twins stadium- interim county manager Doug Meurer says there's no money left.
Take sot
Meurer
Based on the way we've treated MLB we do not have revenues to make those improvements.
But commissioners say something needs to happen here.
Consider this-
In 2011- Lee County spent nearly 2 million dollars to run City of Palms Park. It collected nearly 340 thousand in direct revenue.
But In 2012 - the county spent 1.4 million dollars to run the vacated park. And brought in less than 30 thousand dollars.
The county says the economic impact from an occupied stadium is in the millions.
Take Sot
Cecil Pendrgrass
County Commissioner
Something there would obviously help the city fort Myers and lee county. But we have no money to offer them - so we'll continue negotiations.
As the county considers two other ways to fund its baseball dream - businesses and fans hope they don't consider the third option. Saying no thanks.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
WARM WEATHER RETURNS
The overall weather picture is looking great this week. Tonight will be mostly clear and it will be another chilly start to the day on Tuesday. I anticipate lows to drop well into the 40's inland and bottom out around 49 to 52 along the coast. No rain is on the radar tonight and there won't be any again tomorrow. Tuesday high temperatures will reach 78 degrees. And it looks like the 80's are coming back by Wednesday.
A cold front is expected to move across northern Florida over the next few days and stall out around that part of the state. This will keep southwest Florida on the warm side of the front and our daytime highs will top 80 beginning on Wednesday and lasting through this upcoming weekend. There could be some showers up in the panhandle and toward Jacksonville over the next few days, but down here I expect it to be a dry week.
As mentioned, the upcoming weekend should be warm and more nice weather is on the way. The long-range weather forecasts predict a cold front moving into Florida next week - probably Wednesday or Thursday.
