FIRST ALERT FORECAST-CLIP

FORECAST OPEN Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

The stretch of cool weather we've had in place for the last few days will start to fade away today, and it looks as though this will be the last morning with temperatures in the 40s for the remainder of the week.

Once temperatures start to climb after sunrise, we'll be on track to warm well into the 70s by the afternoon and even closing in on 80° in some spots; that's a warm up of about 5 degrees compared to yesterday's highs.

Like yesterday, our sky will stay mostly sunny from morning to afternoon, but now that our winds are coming in from the southeast, expect increasing humidity and a few more patchy clouds. Rain will not be in the forecast today, and rain chances are looking pretty slim for the remainder of the week as well.

Across northern parts of Florida, we're tracking as weak disturbance that will bring more cloud cover and a few showers to areas mostly north of Orlando and the I-4 corridor, so the bulk of this weather system will not have much of an influence on our local weather. We will, however, continue to see the wind flow become more southerly, which means the warmth and moisture keeps building in as we go through the rest of the week.

By Wednesday, humidity will keep creeping up, and temperatures will follow suit as we see daytime highs breaking into the 80s. More clouds will also develop during the day, but sunshine will continue to be our main weather player.

Signs point to the warm and sunny pattern holding into the upcoming weekend and likely into next week, which means most days will feature a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the low 80s and lows in the low to mid 60s. Return to index of stories...

1:01:31 Our dresses are designed to make a woman look 10 pounds thinner or

one size smaller.

SHANI IS A FASHION DESIGNER WHOSE NU LINE OF DRESSES FEATURE SHAPEWAER -

SEWN RIGHT INTO THE DRESS.

Paula: So basically no lumps -

No lumps no bumps!

THE DRESSES ARE SELLING LIKE HOTCAKES.

THAT DOESN'T SURPRISE STYLIST PAMELA PEKERMAN -- WHO SAYS DRESSES DESIGNED

TO MAKE WOMEN LOOK THINNER ARE MORE IN DEMAND NOW THAN EVER BEFORE.

As long as women want to look flawless, this trend is not going away.

BUT CAN A DRESS *REALLY* MAKE A WOMAN LOOK AND *FEEL* TEN POUNDS LIGHTER?

AND ONE SIZE *SMALLER*? WE DECIDED TO FIND OUT. WITH THE HELP OF SIX

WOMEN, SIZES 2 TO 16.

FROCK NUMBER ONE: A ROYAL BLUE DRESS FROM SHAWNEE.

THE WOMEN AGREED. IT ELIMINATED MUFFIN TOPS.

1:45:10 I feel very confident. It really sucks things in and smooths things

out.

==butted to==

1:37:46 I feel like I look smaller up here, which is really great/ 1:38;01

I have no back rolls - it's really great!

AND THE DRESS ACTUALLY SHAVED INCHES!

BEFORE DONNING THE FROCK. LAUREN CZERWINSKI's

WAIST WAS 30 INCHES. HER HIPS 41 INCHES. BUT AFTER PUTTING ON SHAWNEE'

S DRESS?

THIS MOM TO A SIX YEAR OLD LOST TWO INCHES IN *BOTH* AREAS.

You look great!

FROCK NUMBER TWO. A VERSATILE NUMBER BY SASSYBAX. THE FIGUREFORMING

DRESS.WHICH RETAILS FOR JUST ?$76. CAN BE WORN AS A TUBE DRESS OR A

SKIRT.

WE'RE NOT SURE WHETHER THE WOMEN WERE MORE SCARED. OR IMPRESSED. BY

THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS.

1:52:10 My husband would love it.

1:50: I feel like a hot mama!

BUT THE PROOF OF ITS POWER. WAS ONCE AGAIN IN THE MEASURING TAPE.

THIS TIME LAUREN WAS JUST 38 INCHES IN THE HIPS - THREE INCHES *SLIMMER*

THAN *WITHOUT* THE DRESS ON.

2:07:38 I feel like I'm in my 20s again,

AS FOR THE OPINION OF OUR LADIES ABOUT WHETHER THE EFFECTS OF THE SO-CALLED

WEIGHT-LOSS DRESSES AER FOR REAL. WE'LL LET THEM TELL YOU.

BREASTFEEDING TIPS-2 SHOT

OUR BODIES ARE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE MILK FOR BABIES - BUT AS MANY MOMS KNOW - BREAST FEEDING CAN BE TOUGH!

THEY OFTEN TURN TO THEIR OWN MOTHERS AND GIRLFRIENDS FOR NURSING ADVICE -- AND END UP GETTING TIPS THAT AREN'T BACKED BY MEDICAL RESEARCH.

ERIKA EDWARDS REPORTS. Return to index of stories...

BREASTFEEDING TIPS-PKG

WHEN MANY WOMEN HAVE THEIR FIRST BABY -- THEY ASSUME THEY'LL BREAST FEED.

ERIN MEYERS WAS THE SAME WAY. ALL OF HER NEW MOMMY FRIENDS WERE NURSING WITHOUT A PROBLEM.

SHE, HOWEVER. HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS.

"I'm not sleeping, I'm frustrated, she's frustrated, my husband's frustrated.. and they're just going great, and it's wonderful and. do you need milk, because I've got plenty."

HER 'PLENTIFUL' GIRLFRIENDS URGED HER TO TRY AN HERBAL SUPPLEMENT CALLED FENUGREEK.

"It upped the milk supply a lot, but by that point it was too late."

NEW MOTHERS OFTEN TURN TO OTHER MOTHERS - INSTEAD OF A DOCTOR - FOR NURSING ADVICE.

THEY OFTEN SUGGEST HOME REMEDIES LIKE TEA LEAVES TO EASE PAIN. MILK THISTLE AND OATMEAL TO INCREASE MILK PRODUCTION.

"Cabbage leaves to dry you up. so stay away from cabbage leaves."

IT'S NOT SOMETHING THEY ROUTINELY TEACH IN MEDICAL SCHOOL, ACCORDING TO DR. JONATHAN SHAFFIR OF THE OHIO STATE WEXNER MEDICAL CENTER.

"I was sort of curious as to where they were getting this information.and whether this was officially known or sort of on the down-low."

DR. SHAFFIR SURVEYED 124 LACTATION CONSULTANTS. MORE THAN HALF HAD RECOMMENDED ONE OF THESE FOLK REMEDIES.

ALTHOUGH NO LARGE STUDIES HAVE BEEN DONE ON THE SAFETY OF NURSING MOMS TAKING HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS, MOST DOCTORS SAY THEY'RE PROBABLY FINE.

"Those things really wouldn't be expected to have any adverse effects, probably aren't all that helpful, but you know, no harm in trying."

ERIN IS SUCCESSFULLY NURSING HER THIRD CHILD NOW. SHE ADVISES OTHER STRUGGLING MOMS TO DRINK A LOT OF WATER. AND GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK.

"You think. have a baby, put him up there and everybody knows what to do and it's not true."

AND REMEMBER -- THE BOTTLE IS ALWAYS THERE FOR BACK-UP.
