6:02 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

We've got a fantastic weekend of weather on the way across Southwest Florida featuring very pleasant temperatures, plentiful sunshine, and comfortable humidity.

We'll get our Saturday started with temperatures a little on the cool side with most locations in the mid to upper 50s around sunrise, but we'll warm up nicely through the day with daytime highs projected to reach the low 80s.

Sunshine will be our main weather player as only a few fair-weather clouds develop through the day. Rain won't really be a factor in our forecast through the weekend either as our rain chance remains below 10% through early next week.

The wind will stay fairly breezy through the weekend as it becomes more easterly today with gusts up to 15-10 mph; by Sunday the wind will become more southeasterly with gusts getting up to 20 mph.

Our overnight temperatures will stay fairly cool for the next couple of mornings. On Sunday morning we'll start with temperatures in the mid to upper 50s, and on Monday morning our lows will dip into the upper 50s and low 60s.

As we head into early next week, we'll stay warm and dry with lots of sunshine through Tuesday. Temperatures will stay quite warm as well with daytime highs climbing all the way into the mid 80s under a partly cloudy sky. Our forecast could get a little interesting in terms of rain prospects Wednesday as a cool front slides down the Florida peninsula and stalls out over South Florida. If this scenario pans out, the stalled front may bring a few days of rainy weather from Wednesday through Friday.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...

With school safety, it's all about prevention and education. So I think those are some of the things we can look at to enhance our prevention activities. And it's a lot cheaper than intervention.

6:42 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL
