Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
A couple more days of sunny warm weather is in store for Southwest Florida, and then things will start to get a little more interesting for us later this week.
Before we get to a few twists and turns in our forecast, today is looking like nearly a repeat performance of the sunny and beautiful weather we had yesterday and over the weekend. The only minor blemish will be some areas of low visibility this morning as some fog develops in spots. Once the fog fades, we're on track to see more sunshine along with some patchy fair-weather clouds, but there's no rain in the forecast.
Temperatures will be quite warm again considering we're in mid February; temperatures should easily exceed 80, and most locations will see peak temps in the middle 80s with a warm breeze occasionally gusting up to 15-20 mph.
As we head through overnight hours, look for more patchy fog to develop late, which could linger through mid morning Wednesday. Tonight's temperatures will struggle to get down to the mid 60s, so expect pretty mild conditions overnight into early Wednesday morning.
After another warm and partly sunny Wednesday, we'll have to contend with an incoming cool front that will stick around for a couple days. Thursday and Friday will likely bring cloudy skies along with some fairly promising rain prospects. At this point, rain probabilities look to be somewhere around 60-70%.
The front will begin to push to our south early this weekend, and in its place an impressive shot of cold air will surge into Southwest Florida, perhaps leading to some of the coldest temperatures we've seen so far this winter season. Long-range forecast models are hinting at the possibility of 40s and 30s on Sunday and Monday morning followed by a pretty rapid warm up by the middle of next week.

Full Forecast
