FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

SHOWERS IN THE FORECAST

One more warm day is on the way for tomorrow before we see some changes in our string of warm, dry days.

A front across the northern Gulf Coast states will continue to sink southward and by late tomorrow we should see a few showers break out in the afternoon - mainly inland. On Thursday and Friday the front will move through the area and stall out to the south of us. Forecast computer models suggest that this pattern will keep our skies rather cloudy for a few days and we should be able to track some rain both Thursday and Friday. Forecast guidance says we could see over 1/2 inch of rain over that time period.

We are well below normal for rain over the last 2 months and the return of showers this week is good news.

The outlook for our weekend ahead is looking good - but it will start to get cooler. Clouds will linger on Saturday with highs in the 70's and lows will be in the 40's by Sunday morning. There won't be any record-setting cold weather coming, but you will notice those cooler temperatures this weekend. Return to index of stories...

DANIELS BUS STOP MOTHER-BNR-PKG

Every day Ann Tomlinson suits up.

Nats

With one goal.

22 33 17. 20

My concern is for the safety of students.

She says when students, including her daughter, are getting on or off the bus, sometimes drivers dont stop.

22 35 16. 22 35 28

I can't scream, I can't chase people down, I want to do something that's legal, so I thought, well I would notice someone standing with a big sign.

That sign-

Saying stop for the bus.

Nats

She's been noticing the problem for the last year and half here on Daniels parkway near u-s 41.

But finally decided to do something about it last Wednesday.

22 31 50 22 31 57

I just step out behind the bus with the sign that I've made that says stop for bus. It just adds a bit more of an attention-getter.

the lee county sheriffs office says Daniels parkway is one of their high traffic areas-

And they do patrol for bus stop law violators- who can be receive a fine or get points on their license if caught.

But they need the public to call them when there are problem spots.

Lt. Larry King

22 43 44. 54

We put a very heavy emphasis on that type of enforcement with the whole goal of making the road safer.

And it's passion to keep the road safe that keeps Tomlinson holding her sign for not only her daughters bus, but other children's buses too.

22 36 36. 22 36 46

I think it's a little ridiculous that I do this but I'm the kind of person who thinks what can I do. So I'm doing it.

and in the short time she's been out here, tomlinson says she's noticed a difference.

22 33 07. 22 33 11

It is working believe it or not. It's amazing

And until she sees fewer drivers ignoring the sign, she'll continue her push.

22 34 03. 08

If its working for the safety of our kids I'll continue it Return to index of stories...
