Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
"A warm and dry pattern"
We have made quite the turn around when it comes to our temperatures, going from 38° to 80° weather in a matter of 24 hours. Over the next few days, a warm and mainly dry pattern will hold in place across Southwest Florida.
This morning we'll wake up fairly mild as temperatures start off near 60° in some spots, with reduced visibilities due to the development of some patchy fog. A weakening cold front approaching our part of the state from the northwest will not bring much in the way of precipitation or even a cool down as it fades and fizzles across the area.
Through the afternoon we'll continue to see a good mix of sun and clouds and before the day is over temperatures will have topped out in the lower 80s. Beaches and coastal areas will be a few degrees shy of the 80° mark as a seabreeze develops off the freshly chilled waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Tonight, a few passing clouds will remain in the forecast and overnight lows will be warmer than average as they cool into the middle 60s. Once again, patchy fog may develop by early tomorrow morning.
High pressure out in the Atlantic will take over our weather pattern once again as we round out the work week keeping us partly sunny and dry. Temperatures and humidity will continue to climb especially as we head into the weekend as daytime highs return to the middle 80s and overnight lows drop off into the upper 60s.
Next rain chance looks to be early next week with the arrival of our next cold front.

Lee County goes with its top pick to take over its embattled helicopter program.
Air Methods will take over MedStar - which was grounded 6 months ago.
NBC 2's Joe Roetz has followed this story and joins us from downtown Fort Myers with the latest.
Take Live
-AFter months of uncertainty and debate about which direction to take over the county's helicopter program, Lee COunty Commissioners decided Colorado based Air Methods is their choice.
Take Vo
-Commissioners made the unanimous decision wihout much debate this morning.
-You'll remember - MedStar was grounded last year after the discovery the county had improperly billed patients upwards of 3 million dollars.
-Patients can expect to pay more. WHile the county charged a base fee of 85- hundred dollars per flight, Air Methods starts at more tan 13-thousand dollars.
- Instead of county taxpayers footing the bill - the money will come straigt from patients and their insurance companies.
-The County estimates it will save more than 2-million a year.

Weather Trends
