FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

NICE WEATHER AGAIN TOMORROW

The weather patter still looks good for us tomorrow. I expect mostly clear weather this evening and, once again, tomorrow morning will likely be foggy in some places to start the day. Fog this morning reduced visibility in many areas and there could be a repeat performance tomorrow morning. Temperatures this evening will fall through the 60's and land about 59/60 to start the day on Thursday. The weak front I mentioned yesterday has washed out over the center part of the state and we won't be seeing any cool weather move down here. Tomorrow's highs will be the in mid 80's and beach temperatures will be in the upper 70's. Winds off the cool Gulf of Mexico water will keep beaches a few points "cooler" than inland areas.

Looking ahead to the weekend it appears than another weak front will move into the northern part of our state and we remain on the warm side of this next weather system. Some computer guidance tries to pop up a few showers on Sunday afternoon, but I think it will be mainly dry for our area this weekend. Humidity will continue to come up a bit each day through Sunday as we top out around 84 degrees.

For forward planning - the long-range forecasts predict a pattern change for us by the middle of next week. We will start to see more showers moving in and some cooler temperatures are predicted by the first weekend in March. Return to index of stories...

29:22 we dont really know what we are looking for yet

BUT JOHN MOHOER AND HIS GIRLFRIEND DO KNOW THEY WANT A PET FROM THE SHELTER.

30:00 we wanna be a nicer home for the animals that couldn't have that home:06

ABOUT 10 THOUSAND PETS COME TO LEE COUNTY DOMESTIC ANIMALS SERVICES EACH YEAR LOOKING FOR A HOME.

THERE'S THREE THOUSAND ALONE DURING KITTEN SEASON.

THE SAD NEWS -- ABOUT 30 PERCENT ARE EUTHANIZED.

:54 id adopt a couple pets if i knew the actual number:58

BUT SENATOR JOE ABURZZO WANTS TO SAVE SOME OF THOSE PETS.

"You need to have steps and the first step is logically, let's get the statistics so we know truly how many dogs and cats we're putting down.

the legislation would force animal shelters to publish online how many dogs and cats come in each month, and how many get euthanized.

:49 that would influence my decision i came here:52

D-A-S' DIRECTOR DONNA WARD ISN'T SURE STATISTICS ARE THE ANSWER.

THEY ALREADY KEEP THOSE RECORDS ONLINE.

24:26 i would rather see us focus on keeping down the animal population so we have to keep less stats i think spay neuter should be the focus:34

AS PART OF THE TRANSPARANCY IN ANIMAL SHELTERS ACT, WARD WANTS IT TO INCLUDE PROVIDING LOW OR NO COST SPAY-NEUTER PROGRAMS.

26:44 if we didnt have animals breeding unvaccinated we wouldnt have those deaths either all ties back to importance of spaying and neutering:50

FIX FLORIDA REPORTS MORE THAN 50 PERCENT OF THE PETS THAT ENTER ANIMAL SHELTERS ARE ULTIMATELY PUT DOWN.

A HEARTBREAKING NUMBER FOR THIS FUTURE PET OWNER.

31:06 if it comes to an innocent animal getting euthanized id snatch it up in a heartbeat:12

FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR, THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE GOING FOR COSMETIC PROCEDURES IS UP.

NBC2'S KELLY CRESWELL SHOWS US WHAT PEOPLE ASKING FOR.

MORE PEOPLE ARE GETTING BOTOX -- ACCORDING TO THE LATEST STATISTICS FROM THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF PLASTIC SURGEONS.

BOTOX TREATMENTS ARE UP EIGHT PERCENT SINCE 2011, WITH MORE THAN SIX MILLION PROCEDURES PERFORMED LAST YEAR.

THE PLASTIC SURGERY INDUSTRY EXPERIENCED AN INCREASE IN DEMAND FOR THE THIRD YEAR IN A ROW -- WITH MINIMALLY INVASIVE PROCEDURES LIKE BOTOX AND CHEMICAL PEELS LEADING THE WAY.

OVERALL MORE THAN FOURTEEN MILLION PEOPLE HAD PLASTIC SURGERY IN 2012.

SURGICAL PROCEDURES LIKE BREAST IMPLANTS AND FACELIFTS WERE DOWN SLIGHTLY -- YET ONE MILLION AMERICANS STILL WENT UNDER THE KNIFE.
