THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
MORE WARMTH FOR SUNDAY
With a lot of sunshine and temperatures in the mid 80s we are quickly reminded why we live in Florida during the month of February.
That's what we have dealt with the past couple of days, and it looks like we will add to that tally in the days to come.
For those headed out to the beach this weekend, water temperatures have warmed quickly over the last few days with Fort Myers Beach up to 71°. Granted, that's still pretty chilly for the standard Gulf water temperature. For those planning to do some boating watch out for low visibility due to sea fog especially during the morning. Otherwise, the forecast for the waterways looks pretty nice. Seas and open waters will range from 2-3 feet with inland waters at a moderate chop.
Thankfully the weather will cooperate for those beach and boating plans on Sunday. We will start off with areas of fog and low clouds once again on Sunday morning. Those will quickly erode by the mid-morning hours, leaving us with sunny, warm, and breezy weather for Sunday.
Sound familiar? It's what we forecasted for Saturday, too. So yes - Sunday will be a carbon copy of Saturday.
A couple isolated showers may form late in the day, but any spotty shower activity will be carried deep inland. Winds will be slightly west of south through the day with gusts reaching 20 mph, making for a fairly breezy day.
Winds will continue to have a southerly component through the weekend, which will work to keep the warmth and humidity bottled up across Southwest Florida.
So it looks like our stretch warm, dry weather will continue through Monday, but then changes will arrive by Tuesday as a cold front slides into Southwest Florida. Scattered showers and cloudy skies will be a good bet through the day Tuesday, and some of the activity will even linger into our Wednesday.
Signs point to a big turnaround by the end of next week as a prolonged period of cooler weather dominates our forecast for the first week of March, and there's even a possibility this pattern will hold for the first two weeks of March!

TYLER THANKS.
A FAMILY CALLS IT A 'DOUBLE HEADER' OF SORTS IN UPSTATE NEW YORK.
A MAN MARRIED FOR NEARLY 66 YEARS DIES ON THE WAY TO HIS WIFE'S FUNERAL.
MARK MULHOLLAND HAS THE UNUSUAL STORY.
Return to index of stories...
THIS IS THE STORY OF A MAN AND WOMAN WHO SPENT MOST OF THEIR LIVES TOGETHER.GWEN AND NORMAN HENDRICKSON WERE MARRIED
NEARLY 66 YEARS AGO, VOWING TO NEVER LEAVE EACH OTHER'S SIDE. WHEN GWEN PASSED AWAY EARLIER THIS MONTH, NORM WAS HEARTBROKEN.
HIS DAUGHTERS OVERHEARD HIM SAY TO HER, "I LOVE YOU. I'LL MISS YOU AND WATCH FOR ME."
ON THE DAY OF GWEN'S FUNERAL, NORM, DRESSED IN WHAT HE CALLED HIS FUNERAL SUIT, LEFT THEIR CAMBRIDGE HOME IN A LIMOUSINE.
S/ Elizabeth Nichols-Ross/Funeral Director
"And Jim Gariepy, who is an EMT and the Washington County Coroner, He reached over, checked his pulse and said, 'I don't feel much of one. We immediately called the rescue squad."
NORM HAD A DO NOT RESUSCITATE ORDER, SO HE WAS ALLOWED TO PASS AWAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME WHERE PEOPLE WERE ABOUT TO PAY THEIR FINAL RESPECTS TO THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE.
S/ Elizabeth Nichols-Ross/Funeral Director
"Merrilyne, the oldest daughter, said to me, 'Elizabeth, do you think we could put dad in a box and put him in the room with a mom?' I took a little bit of a breath and said sure. We got them in for the calling hours because people were starting to come in. We got Norm in the back and got him ready."
HIS ADULT DAUGHTERS, NOT SKIPPING A BEAT, POSTED THIS SIGN ON THE FRONT DOOR OF THE FUNERAL HOME, SAYING "SURPRISE, IT'S A DOUBLE HEADER!"
Those who knew Norm say he also appreciated a good bargain. But it's his sense of humor that he'll always be remembered for.
S/ Mark Mulholland/Reporting
"By all accounts, Norm Hendrickson's sense of humor was infectious. And it was certainly hereditary. His daughters came up with this for his prayer card. It says, 'Did you hear the one about the guy who was in the limo on the way to his wife's funeral and got the bright idea that if he died before he got there, he could get a buy one get one free deal?'"
NORM AND GWEN WERE PILLARS OF THE COMMUNITY AND WILL BE MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW THEM.
S/George Bell/Police Chief
"Just a real all-around good guy. Great sense of humor. Always had a joke to tell. No matter what."
BUT THE WAY THEY LIVED AND ESPECIALLY THE WAY THEY WERE REUNITED IN DEATH, WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
