THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
MORE WARMTH FOR SUNDAY
With a lot of sunshine and temperatures in the mid 80s we are quickly reminded why we live in Florida during the month of February.
That's what we have dealt with the past couple of days, and it looks like we will add to that tally in the days to come.
For those headed out to the beach this weekend, water temperatures have warmed quickly over the last few days with Fort Myers Beach up to 71°. Granted, that's still pretty chilly for the standard Gulf water temperature. For those planning to do some boating watch out for low visibility due to sea fog especially during the morning. Otherwise, the forecast for the waterways looks pretty nice. Seas and open waters will range from 2-3 feet with inland waters at a moderate chop.
Thankfully the weather will cooperate for those beach and boating plans on Sunday. We will start off with areas of fog and low clouds once again on Sunday morning. Those will quickly erode by the mid-morning hours, leaving us with sunny, warm, and breezy weather for Sunday.
Sound familiar? It's what we forecasted for Saturday, too. So yes - Sunday will be a carbon copy of Saturday.
A couple isolated showers may form late in the day, but any spotty shower activity will be carried deep inland. Winds will be slightly west of south through the day with gusts reaching 20 mph, making for a fairly breezy day.
Winds will continue to have a southerly component through the weekend, which will work to keep the warmth and humidity bottled up across Southwest Florida.
So it looks like our stretch warm, dry weather will continue through Monday, but then changes will arrive by Tuesday as a cold front slides into Southwest Florida. Scattered showers and cloudy skies will be a good bet through the day Tuesday, and some of the activity will even linger into our Wednesday.
Signs point to a big turnaround by the end of next week as a prolonged period of cooler weather dominates our forecast for the first week of March, and there's even a possibility this pattern will hold for the first two weeks of March!
