THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Another round of fog and low clouds have rolled into parts of Southwest Florida this morning producing areas of low visibility, even in the coastal waters where se fog will be a concern this morning. A Dense Fog Advisory is posted for the coastal water and our inland counties through 9 a.m. today.
Once the sunshine starts to break through and the fog fades by mid morning, we'll enjoy another warm and sunny day with temperatures returning to the 80s.
Most spots warmed into the mid 80s Saturday afternoon, and it looks like we'll see a repeat performance of that today except along the coast where the afternoon sea breeze will keep high temps in the upper 70s.
A couple spotty showers aren't out of the question today as moisture continues to build over South Florida, but the prime locations for those would be deep inland and over the interior. Rain chances will generally be less than 20% both today and Monday.
Winds will still be a little breezy at times out of the southwest today, just not quite as strong as yesterday. However, the southwesterly winds will start to ramp up come Monday and Tuesday as the next storm system begins approaching from the north.
Monday will be a day very much like today: sunny, warm, and breezy. However, Tuesday will be much different as a cool front slides into Southwest Florida, bringing lots of clouds along with scattered rain and perhaps a few storms.
Cloudy skies and a few showers may even carry over into Wednesday before the front makes its final push through our area by Thursday. Once the front clears Southwest Florida, temperatures will take a dive. Daytime highs Thursday will comfortably reach the mid 70s, Friday the low 70s, and by Saturday there's a chance we won't make it out of the 60s. Our overnight temperatures will also spend several nights on the cool side with 50s and 40s possible by the weekend.
Often times after a cold front moves in, it only takes a couple days before our weather starts warming back up, but this might not be the case this go around. Computer models are suggesting a big shift in the weather pattern through the first 7-10 days of March where temperatures will stay cooler than average, meaning it might not be until mid March before the spring break weather makes it back to Southwest Florida.

NEW SURGICAL PROCEDURES ARE MAKING IT EASIER THAN EVER TO REPAIR A TORN OR DAMAGED ROTATOR CUFF.
DR. FLETCHER REYNOLDS/ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON
RUNS:
3:46 We do almost everything now, with the exception of total replacements, we do arthroscopically. And that just means we do it through a series of poke holes, looking in with a small camera about the size of a pencil as opposed to opening a whole shoulder up through a large incision.
AS GOOD AS THE SURGERY IS, THE RESULTS WILL BE LESS THAN DESIRED, IF PATIENTS DON'T PROPERLY MANAGE THEIR RECOVERY.
DR. FLETCHER REYNOLDS/ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON
RUNS:
6:40 The tendency for a lot of athletes is to go into the weight room and put on heavy, heavy weights, do low repetitions of heavy weights such as bench press or military presses to build up deltoids or pectoral muscles. And that can overpower the small muscle groups such as the rotator cuff muscles that help stabilize the shoulder. And that only compounds the problem.
AMY OSHIER/REPORTING
RUNS:
It's important to fight the urge to over do it. Doctors want you to exercise with light weights 5-10 pound dumbells. By doing more, small movements, you can isolate and rebuild the rotator cuff muscle group so they can do their job.
DR. FLETCHER REYNOLDS/ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON
RUNS:
7:40 The rationale is that the major muscles, the deltoid muscle, the pectoralis muscle that most people are well aware of, those move the joint. But the ball and socket is inherently unstable so the rotator cuff muscles work in a very sophisticated manner to prevent it from slipping and moving around as those large muscle groups are working. So if they are overpowered, that subtle instability occurs and injuries result from that.
REHABBING A TORN OR TATTERED SHOULDER TAKES WORK- BUT YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER TO TAKE IT EASY. FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM, I'M AMY OSHIER.

nats outside home
Oscar Pistorius did not venture outside his uncle's home today, where cameras were of course waiting.
But probation officers did pay him a visit.
nats
One of the many conditions of his release is that he can't go home, where Pistorius shot and killed Reeva Steenkamp early Valentine's Day morning-- he says, mistaking her for a burglar in his bathroom.
nats
Today, the newspaper Beeld ran an interview with her father, Barry, describing him as "sobbing on the couch."
Steenkamp saying, "There are only two people who really know what happened-- and it's Oscar Pistorius and the Lord."
"It does not matter how much money he has and how good his legal team is, he must live with his conscience if he allows his legal team to lie on his behalf."
"If it did not happen as he has told it, he must suffer."
"And he will suffer. only he knows."
"But if he speaks the truth, I can perhaps someday forgive him."
nats
The Pistorius family-- emotional, and so supportive of Oscar in court-- sent the Steenkamp family flowers and a card.
"Yes, but what does it mean," Steenkamp's mother was quoted as saying. "Nothing."
"Now everything is taken away from her. In such a violent way."
"We just want to know the truth."
People around the world have reached out to them-- including Princess Charlene of Monaco, who is from South Africa.
And, so have messages of support been posted on Oscar Pistorius' redesigned website. Now devoted to that purpose, and the latest developments in his case.
Showing him with children. with his hand over his heart.

Sot I don't think he is a flight risk.

88 lbs so she lost 2 lbs and we were very excited and very proud of her and
then 17:42:06 this week she had some visitors and got into their beg and ate
an entire bag of waffle chips so we didn't weigh in today because we
thought we've give her a little bit of a grace period to wear that back off.

FORECAST OPEN
Return to index of stories...

THE BIGGEST NIGHT IN HOLLYWOOD IS TONIGHT---
WITH ALL THE GLITZ AND GLAMOUR THAT COMES WITH THE ACADEMY AWARDS---
BUT WHO WILL WIN THE MOST COVETED PRIZE----BEST PICTURE.

They're sprucing up the newly named home of the Oscars.
What was the Kodak is now the Dolby Theater.
Momentum is building for "Argo" to win Best Picture tonight.
--Nat Break-"Argo"
Ben Affleck's film has done well on the awards circuit --even winning best
director at the DGA awards-- but he was snubbed in the same category at the
Oscars. But Afleck says he doesn't feel slighted.
"I feel so honored to be nominated as a
producer, to be at the big party, seven nominations. I'm elated, truly,
genuinely. I don't worry about who got what or didn't get what."
With Affleck out, exactly who is favorite to win the Best Director Oscar is
anyone's guess.
--Nat Break-"Amour"
Another race that's too close to call is the one for Best Actress. French
film star Emmanuelle Riva may have the edge for her work in "Amour". She's
astounding at eighty-6. Then again, "Silver Linings Playbook's" Jennifer
Lawrence won the Golden Globe.
"But she's only 23 years
old. Jessica Chastain in "Zero Dark Thirty" is also amazing but I promise
you it's not going to be the best in her career."
Daniel Day Lewis may have turned in his career's best performance playing
the sixteenth president.
--Nat Break-"Lincoln"
He's considered a shoe-in for a record third Best Actor Oscar.
Another heavy favorite is "Les Miz's" Anne Hathaway for Best Supporting
Actress. She says what she's looking forward to tonight is schmoozing with
Steven Spielberg.
"You have to remind people what you have to
offer. It's part of being an actor. "
