the 16 year-old's friends drove her straight to the hospital after she was shot in the face. but it was too late for kanasha isaac, who is from immokalee. fort myers police are releasing new details- they say saturday night, the teen was leaving miller's ale house on colonial boulevard with her friends after finishing dinner. they all got into the car. that's when officers say another car pulled up, blocking them in their parking spot. detectives say 24 year-old henry brunson began firing away, before taking off. kanasha's friends looked over and realized she'd been shot. officers tell us someone in the car immediately recognized brunson, as someone they've known for years.
police arrested him at his dunbar home the next morning. they're still investigating if the bullets were meant for kanasha or someone else in the car.

FORECAST OPEN
Return to index of stories...
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
FEW SHOWERS TOMORROW
The spring-like warmth we've enjoyed will soon come to an end this week as a cold front slides into Southwest Florida tomorrow afternoon.
We'll start Tuesday off with temperatures near 70. Areas of dense fog will be an issue again as sea fog moves on shore. So visibility will be low at times in the morning. This is happening because we have such a warm and humid air mass riding over the cool Gulf waters in advance of our cold front.
As we start heading into the afternoon hours our front will begin to traverse the area and give us added cloud cover mixed with a few showers. Highs will be just above 80 degrees.
So as you can see Tuesday will be much different than the past few days. In fact, cloudy skies and a few showers may even carry over into Wednesday before the front makes its final push through our area by Thursday.
This sets the stage for the rest of the week…
Once the front clears Southwest Florida temperatures will take a dive. Daytime highs Thursday will comfortably reach the mid 70s, Friday the low 70s, and by Saturday there's a chance we won't make it out of the 60s. Our overnight temperatures will also spend several nights on the cool side with 50s and 40s possible by the weekend.
Often times after a cold front moves in it only takes a couple days before our weather starts warming back up, but this might not be the case this go around. Computer models are suggesting a big shift in the weather pattern through the first 7-10 days of March where temperatures will stay cooler than average, meaning it might not be until mid March before the spring break weather makes it back to Southwest Florida.

WHEN YOUR MEAL INVOLVES A DRIVE THRU OR DINNER OUT, WHICH IS A BETTER CHOICE, A CHEESEBURGER OR A SALAD?
CONSIDER THIS: A MCDONALDS' BIG MAC WEIGHS IN AT 550 CALORIES, 29 GRAMS OF FAT, AND 1,000 MILLIGRAMS OF SODIUM, BUT THIS PALES IN COMPARISON TO THESE GUT-BUSTING GREENS!
APPLEBEE'S ORIENTAL CHICKEN SALAD SOUNDS HEALTHY, BUT THE NUMBERS DON'T ADD UP. ALMOST 14-HUNDRED CALORIES, 98 GRAMS OF FAT, AND 16-HUNDRED MILLIGRAMS OF SODIUM.
THE CALORIES IN CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN'S MOROCCAN-SPICED CHICKEN SALAD ARE MORE THAN TWO BIG MACS.
WHEN SALADS LOOKS MORE LIKE TACOS THINGS GET UGLY! THE BAJA FRESH SHRIMP TOSTADA SALAD LOADED WITH EVERYTHING, INCLUDING FAT AND SODIUM.
A BETTER CHOICE, BUT NOT A GREAT CHOICE: TACO BELL FIESTA TACO SALAD WITH BEEF.
AT OUTBACK, YOU CAN ORDER AN ENTIRE STEAK DINNER FOR FEWER CALORIES AND LESS FAT THAN YOU'LL FIND IN THE OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE SALAD.
PROOF THAT A GOOD SALAD CAN GO BAD. I'M VANESSA WELCH REPORTING.

SOT JOIE CHITWOOD:
"I THINK THAT'S THE KEY THAT WE LEARN FROM THIS AND FIGURE OUT WHAT ELSE WE NEED TO DO."
But it's been the ability to almost reach out and touch the cars that's always been part of NASCAR's culture.
SOT JAY HART:
"HOW DO YOU STOP SOMETHING LIKE THIS FROM HAPPENING? IT'S A TOUGH SITUATION THAT NASCAR IS IN BECAUSE THERE'S ALWAYS THAT POSSIBILITY."
But on Sunday the race went on, NASCAR's Super Bowl starting much as it had for more than half a century.only this time with a twist.
