THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Some brief, light showers will move in this morning as a cool front slides through Southwest Florida, and then by the afternoon, skies will clear from north to south as temperatures become noticeably cooler.
While rain chances won't be very high this morning, here's the best thinking on the timing of when the showers move in: expect some quickly moving, spotty showers to start pushing through Charlotte County first around 7 a.m. Lee County should start to see some isolated shower activity from 7-9 a.m., and finally, if the showers manage to survive the journey south, Collier County will see the best chance for a passing shower from 9-10 a.m. Models are keeping rain totals incredibly low, so the places that manage to get a little shower will likely pick up less than a tenth of an inch.
After hitting our daytime high of 71° early this afternoon, temperatures will start to drop this afternoon as the cool air filters in with a strong northwesterly breeze. By mid to late afternoon, temperatures for most of Southwest Florida will be in the mid 60s even with clear, sunny skies.
Winds will become quite breezy through the day with gusts reaching 25-30 mph.
Look for breezy, chilly weather tonight with temperatures dropping into the mid 40s between the coast and I-75. East of I-75, temperatures may get as cold as the mid to upper 30s in the inland cold spots.
Thursday will be another cool day with highs aimed for the low 70s under full sunshine, and by Thursday night into Friday morning, we'll have another round of temperatures in the mid to upper 40s.
A warming trend begins Friday and into the upcoming weekend. With sunny skies and comfortable humidity levels, our weekend outlook looks fantastic with highs getting back into the 80s by Sunday.

Today the American cardinals canceled their daily briefing and they announced they will not be doing anymorr interviews.
This decision comes following this morning's meeting of all the world's cardinals where the issue of media contact was discussed.
The spokesman for the US cardinals says the decision not to talk to the press is a precaution against leaks.
The Vatican spokesperson says as the cardinals move towards the conclave the time to elect the next pope there is a tradition of silence.
What we can tell you is at this morning's meeting aside from the issue of the media, 18 cardinals spoke and they talked of everything from how the Vatican is run to the characteristics needed in the next pope.
"We should look at this as a time of discernment, and preparation which helps the voting process inside the chapel."
Meanwhile at the Sistine Chapel they're preparing for the conclave.
A protective covering has been put over the mosaic floor and a false floor is being built so the cardinals don't have to climb any steps.
"But we still don't have a date for the conclave. The last of the 115 cardinal electors is expected to arrive tomorrow night, that's the cardinal from Vietnam. I'm Ann Thompson at the Vatican, now back to you."

Here in Simpsonville, South Carolina, the proposal to have an officer like Chandler on-site struck everyone as the perfect fit.
SOT Chandler when we got down to brass tacks with it it didn't cost a dime.
Katy Tur: It didn't cost anything? Chandler: No
SOT Debbie Mihalic / Plain Elementary School Principal
I feel safer. I never thought that actually having an officer at elementary would be that valuable, but now that he's here I don't want him to leave.
Schools in Jordan, Minnesota are doing the same. Calling it a proactive solution.
SOT by Principal Minnesota:
We're hoping that this is a deterrent, that it'll help build the community, and it'll help kids understand that police officers are helpful and that they're here to help us.
At Plain Elementary, school officials talked with parents and teachers about potential concerns over having an armed police officer walking the halls. So far, the reaction though has been positive.
SOT parents:
The children will know he's here for their safety.
He's made us feel safe, especially what's happened over in Connecticut.
Justin: I'd rather be here and not be needed, than be needed and not be here.
A small solution easing big anxieties.
NATS high fives
SOT Katy: This is clearly not a job for you.
Justin: If you don't have fun in what you do - what's the point in doing it?
Now while having an armed police officer is working here in South Carolina, in upstate New York, an armed resource officer accidentally discharged his gun in a school hallway. Nobody was around and nobody was injured in that situation. But now, a lot of people are wondering why he needed to be there at all. Katy Tur NBC News, Simpsonville, South Carolina.
