Chelsea Murphy was walking down a busy street when she was hit and killed by a drivers looking at his cell phone, Take a look around- on a road like this- it only takes a few seconds to find someone doing the same thing.
But now- Florida legislators are looking to stop just that.

It's a nightmare Kristin Murphy can't escape.
Sot Kristin Murphy, daughter killed by distracted driver 3:0 I remember that day like it was yesterday, going up on the scene , I knew in the pit of my stomach that the accident had something to do with my daughter but I wasn't sure 27
Her daughter- 19 year old Chelsea who was 4 months pregnant when she was hit and killed by a man who looked down at his cell phone.
Sot Kristin
3:44 her last words to me were I love you mom ill see you soon 45
3 years later- Kristin is fighting for legislation that she says will save lives.
Sot Kristin
2:52 the person who hit my daughter- he lost his life too in a way, he can't go on and do what he wanted to do. 56 he wanted to be. Police officer' he wanted to go into the service. His life is ruined I buried a child but he also buried his dreams. 07
House bill 13 just passed the house transportation and highway safety committee subcommittee unanimously.
If approved- it will ban texting while moving in a vehicle.
Sot sheriff Kevin Rambosk, collier county
11:36 injuries and fatalities from distracted driving are overtaking our roadways and it doesn't allow for our families to be safe on the road so that's why we're taking this so seriously 51
The ban would allow law enforcement to give a $30 ticket for a first offense, and a $60 ticket for the second-plus court costs.
Nate road
The bill has died before a vote in previous sessions, But lawmakers are confident this time is different.
Stressing to opponents that the bill doesn't limit rights- it protects them.
Sot sheriff
12:00 driving is not a right it's a privilege granted by the state that they're from and there are administrative rules to keep the rest of us safe 10
voice activated texting would be allowed, as would texting while stopped at a Red light.
This mother- hopes legislators see this face when comes to a final decision.
Sot Kristin
00:20 what I'd like to do this month is see the law go through instead of next week instead of next week celebrate the 3rd year of death of my daughter 27

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
NICE WEEKEND AHEAD
High pressure will control the weather over southwest Florida through the weekend. Tonight we will continue to see mainly clear skies and temperatures dropping again to chilly 40's. A few inland places may, once again, touch the upper 30's tomorrow morning.
No rain is on the radar and no showers are in the forecast either. Tomorrow looks like another mostly sunny day with afternoon highs going back to the mid 70's. The average high temperature for tomorrow is 80 degrees and it looks like we will finally get there by the weekend. Winds on Friday will be from the northeast and that will be another signal of the warmer weather to come this weekend.
Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny by Saturday and Sunday and overnight lows moderate to the mid 50's.
All-in-all a great looking weather forecast for our area lasts into the first part of next week. In the long-range computer guidance our next cold front is due here early next Wednesday and we may have a few showers to track then.

SO FAR THE INFECTIONS ARE CONTAINED TO HOSPITALS AND NURSING HOMES, INFECTING THE SEVERELY ILL. THE FEAR AND THE CHALLENGE IS TO KEEP THESE BACTERIA FROM REACHING THE GENERAL POPULATION.
Dr. Anthony Fauci-National Institute of Health
/it's resistant to virtually all antibiotics. the normal issue of giving someone an antibiotic and curing them becomes very difficult.

MONTEFIORE MEDICAL CENTER IN NEW YORK IS TESTING ALL PATIENTS ADMITTED TO ITS CRITICAL CARE UNIT-- AND ISOLATING THEM FROM OTHER PATIENTS. THEY FIND MANY HOSPITALS REGULARLY AND *UNKNOWINGLY* TRANSFER INFECTED PATIENTS INTO THEIR INSTITUTION.
SINCE C-R-E COULD MAKE COMMON AILMENTS LIKE DIARRHEA, URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS AND PNEUMONIA UNTREATABLE, THE NATION FACES A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. BECAUSE THERE IS ON A SMALL WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY TO CONTAIN IT.
