WARMER TODAY
Our Sunday morning starts out a little on the cool side, but with partly to mostly sunny skies, we'll be quickly warming into the lower 80s this afternoon. If you are headed out to the beach for your Sunday, it will be just a bit cooler there with temperatures holding in the mid and upper 70s. Into tomorrow, this pleasant weather pattern will continue, but there are changes on the way for Tuesday. On Tuesday, we'll see more cloud cover along with a few showers moving through the area as a cold front arrives. The models are now picking up on a cool down with this front. Behind the front, for the 2nd half of the work week, we'll see lots of sunshine with highs in the mid and upper 70s and lows in the low to mid 50s for a couple of days.
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

THERE'S A LOT OF FOCUS THESE DAYS ON SO-CALLED "GREEN"
CARS -- CARS THAT RUN ON ELECTRICITY. NATURAL GAS. EVEN VEGETABLE OIL.
BUT THIS MORNING -- THE CAR THAT MAY JUST BE THE "GREENEST" OF ALL. RUNNING ON NOTHING BUT. *AIR*!
NICK SCHIFRIN HAS THE STORY.
Return to index of stories...
IT MAY SEEM HARD TO BELIEVE - BUT THIS RUSTBUCKET COULD BE THE CAR OF THE
FUTURE.
Nick: So when I look in here I see a garbage can. I
see a piece of wood. I mean, this is totally homemade,
right?
Peter: Yes, it is.
MEET INVENTOR PETER DEARMAN.
HIS CAR NEEDS NO GAS.
NO BATTERIES.
ONLY - AIR.
Nick: So, have you ever seen Back to the Future?
Peter: Oh yes, yeah.
NATS from Back to the Future: Quick! Get in the car!
Peter: I should really have different hair
Nick: What emissions will this car produce?
Peter: It won't actually produce any emissions because it's only air we're
using. We're not burning anything.
GFX:
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS. WHEN YOU COOL AIR TO MINUS 300 DEGREES, IT BECOMES A
LIQUID. IF YOU WARM THE LIQUID WITH THE HELP OF ANTI-FREEZE. IT EXPANDS
BACK INTO A GAS POWERING THE CAR'S MOTOR
SO - FANCY A SPIN?
RANGE - 3 MILES WITH A TAIL WIND. TOP SPEED IS ONLY 30.
LOOK, IT'S AN EARLY PROTOTYPE - BUT SOON THERE WILL BE A MORE POLISHED
PACKAGE - DEVELOPED BY THE SAME COMPANY THAT DESIGNS ENGINES FOR MCLAREN
SPORTS CARS
IN 40 YEARS OF INVENTIONS IN THIS GARAGE -- PETER SAYS THIS ONE IS HIS MOST
IMPORTANT.
HE MAY JUST MAKE THE OLD GAS GUZZLERS DISAPPEAR INTO THIN - AIR.
