Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
WARM TODAY, A FEW SHOWERS TOMORROW
The high pressure system that has been in place over Southwest Florida giving us some pleasant weather will continue to control our weather today. We'll see mostly sunny skies and highs will warm into the lower 80s. Ahead of a cold front, our winds will be coming in from the southeast, gusting up toward 20 mph this afternoon helping us with today's warm up. There is a cold front on the way for tomorrow. Starting tonight, we could see a few showers. Through the day tomorrow there will be some showers and possibly even a few thunderstorms as the front works its way through the area. The best rain chances will be during the work day. Behind that front, cooler, drier weather will move back into Southwest Florida. We'll see plenty of sunshine for the middle and end of the week with highs in the mid and upper 70s for a couple of days. Overnight lows will drop to near 50 degrees for Thursday and Friday mornings. If you are already planning ahead to the weekend, it looks like we'll be back near 80 degrees by then.

"You should say hello to your letter carrier while you still can"
MAYBE YOU'VE SEEN THE AD. THE ONE PUSHING BACK AGAINST THE PLAN TO STOP SATURDAY MAIL.
WHEN THE POSTAL SERVICE DELIVERED THE NEWS LAST MONTH.IT WANTED TO STOP DELIVERY ON SATURDAYS.
. POSTMASTER PATRICK DONAHOE SAID THE COUNTRY AGREED. THE POST OFFICE NEEDS HELP FUNDING HEALTHCARE FOR FUTURE RETIREES.
. AND FIRST CLASS CAN'T COMPETE WITH E-MAIL!
"70 percent of Americans say they will support 5 day mail delivery."
HE ALSO HAD SUPPORTERS IN CONGRESS.
California - :37 -:39
"Even the government is no longer using the Post Office.
BUT THAT WAS LAST MONTH. ALREADY THIS MONTH.THE HOUSE, AT LEAST, INSTRUCTED THE POSTAL SERVICE TO KEEP SIX DAY DELIVERY THROUGH SEPTEMBER.
.WHICH SENT DONAHOE BACK TO THE AIRWAVES TO TELL CONGRESS TO BACK OFF.
"Where we need help from Congress is some of the legislative issues. like health care, like not getting in the way of the 6-to-5 day. we need to make those changes."
".because you may soon be saying goodbye"
AND NOW THE AD.FROM THE LETTER CARRIERS UNION HAS HIT THE AIR.
"Dismantling the Postal Service is not the way to save it"
WHICH MEANS THE DEBATE ON SATURDAY DELIVERY. REMAINS DEBATABLE.

Full Forecast
