Talk about safety and aviation - it's a bad move.
Page Field isn't alone. Two others in Naples and Punta Gorda could lose control tower operations All three County Port Authorities have penned letters to the FAA asking them to reconsider.
If they don't - pilots would be forced to land with little to no help.

It puts responsibility back on individual pilots for ground operations.
Something pilots say is a bad idea

Some pilots may not be so experienced and may not hear or have a radio problem.

Tim Martell's manatee guide tours business is usually booked this time of year. But in the last month, he's made it his business to search for manatees affected by red tide.
Take nats--over to the left is where I found my first one.
Its been a labor of love, searching for manatees holed up in mangroves, barely alive.
Take sound
Tim Martell, Manatee Guide
"They beach themselves and try to get into shallower water with the idea being that they want to get their snout above the surface."
With a record of 174 red tide related deaths, researchers are looking for answers. Laura Carr, a senior program specialist at manatee park says the red tide is attaching to the sea grasses the manatees eat.
Take sound
Laura Carr, Senior Program Specialist
"It's probably staying in their systems for quite a while. They may be passing it on from the mother's milk to their baby, it's hard to say what's going on when you find adults and small manatees as well unfortunately dying right now."
The toxins slowly paralyze the manatee's body, making it hard for the manatee to lift its snout above water to breathe. The toxin also causes the manatee's face to scrunch up like this and twitch, and it even can suffer from seizures.
Nats-I'll check it out
Thoroughly searching the Orange River, Tim found a lifeless manatee this morning. Within the last month, he's come across about two dozen dead manatees. But through his searches, he's been able to save three. Certified by FWC to rescue manatees, Tim has made it his mission to continue his search, to try and save the endangered animal.

"If there's a chance that I can find even one manatee and save its life, then that's where I'd rather be."

WHILE LIVING PRIMARILY IN CHICAGO, HE BUILT UP HIS FUTURE RETIREMENT HOME ON SOUTHWEST 24TH AVENUE IN CAPE CORAL.
25:01 part of the advertisement is that this could be filled in right at the of our property
NOW HE FINDS HIMSELF FIGHTING FOR HIS WATERFRONT PROPERTY.
25:57 its not what we thought we were getting into:59
DEVELOPERS WANT TO CHANGE THE ZONING ON THIS LOT ON THE CORNER OF VETERANS PARKWAY AND SURFSIDE BOULEVARD TO ALLOW FOR BUSINESSES, NOT HOMES.
IT COULD MEAN TEARING DOWN THIS VACANT HOME AND FILLING IN THE CANAL.
25:49 its not going to make it our dream anymore with the property ending there and with the commercial property right next to us:57
A ZONING CHANGE MEANS THE CANAL BESIDE HIS HOME COULD BE FILLED IN.
INDELLI WORRIES IT WOULD AFFECT PROPERTY VALUES AND INCREASE TRAFFIC WITH THE ENTRANCE ON HIS STREET.
28:06 its a situation of growth i can see both sides of it i just happen to be the only property thats right next to it:16
34:59 what we look for is if there is a concern if its one persons concern its a concern to everyone on council 35:04
IN 2011, A SIMILAR ZONING CHANGE PROPOSAL WAS SHOT DOWN.
BUT DEVELOPERS ARGUE A CHANGE IS THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE THE LAND MARKETABLE.
INDELLI HOPES COUNCIL WILL ALSO TAKE HIS FUTURE INTO CONSIDERATION.

FEW SHOWERS ON TUESDAY
Did you see all the cloud cover stream in on Monday? If so you probably thought it was going to rain at times. But it never did!
Different story for Tuesday.
A cold front is migrating to Southwest Florida from the Tennessee Valley, and it is bringing with it a chance for showers Tuesday afternoon. We noticed the changes beginning to occur on Monday as the cloud cover increased.
Tuesday the cloud cover will be a lot more dense, and eventually the rain will fall as we progress later into the day.
The ETA for the front will be anywhere from 2 to 6 PM Tuesday. Consequently that will be the best time to see rain. Right in time for the afternoon commute! So make sure you have the umbrellas and rain gear in hand. Oh, and make sure the windshield wipers are working properly. You'll need to use them at times.
With the front approaching, our lows on Tuesday will be fairly uncomfortable. It'll be humid, and the temperatures will range from 64 to 69 degrees. The cloud cover and rain will be in an abundance and that should be able to keep our highs from reaching 80 degrees.
After Tuesday cooler air arrives. Morning lows will be near 50 and daytime highs in the mid to upper 70s. It'll be dry and breezy, too, with winds sitting around 15 MPH.
The weekend looks perfect. Partly sunny skies and highs in the lower 80s.
