YOU'VE HEARD THE RUMBLE OF THE THUNDER NOW YOU'RE SEEING THE RAIN ACROSS SOUTHWEST FLORIDA.

METEOROLOGIST TYLER MAULDIN IS TRACKING THE CONDITIONS FIRST AT FOUR. Return to index of stories...

FIRST WX-WX CTR

Widespread rain and even a few storms will keep feeding in from the Gulf this afternoon and evening, making for a wet and cloudy conclusion to our Monday.

As the rain continues to build to the southeast, the showers should slowly weaken but should hold together long enough to bring wet conditions to most of Southwest Florida.

By the late afternoon and evening, the bulk of the rain will likely be concentrated over the southern half of the viewing, particularly affecting Collier County from Naples down to Everglades City.

Look for showers to linger through tonight before most of the rain dissipates by Tuesday morning.

Tuesday will offer up another mostly to partly cloudy day along with another opportunity for some isolated showers, but the rain shouldn't be as widespread as today.

Despite the extra clouds around tomorrow, temperatures should easily climb into the low to mid 80s.

Wednesday will be yet another interesting day around our part of Florida as a cool front drops in from the north and stalls over Central and South Florida. The front should bring in enough moisture to produce some scattered afternoon rain along with an increase in cloud cover.

Rain chances will start dropping off by Thursday as more sunshine breaks through, sending afternoon temperatures into the mid 80s.

The next incoming weather system will likely arrive late this weekend in the form of a cold front, so it's possible we'll have more rain around Sunday followed by another cool spell by early next week. Return to index of stories...

FEDERAL SPENDING CUTS HAVE SOME AIR TRAVELERS UPSET --

ANGRY!

THIS WEEKEND MANY PASSENGERS WERE LEFT TO WAIT IN UNUSUALLY LONG LINES AT THE AIRPORT.

REPORTER LIZ NAGY SPOKE WITH FRUSTRATED TRAVELERS IN MIAMI. Return to index of stories...

MIA DELAYS-PKG

IT WAS MADNESS AT MIA, SATURDAY NIGHT.

"Cutting people off and holding people back. People were yelling, screaming. Saw a couple fights."

HERE'S A GLIMPSE AT WHAT PASSENGERS SAY WAS AN INTERMINABLE WAIT AT CUSTOMS.

".and I thought there was going to be unbelievable riots up there."

"A little over two hours just to get through Customs."

BLAME IT ON THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

"It's budget cutbacks from TSA; furloughs is what they're saying the problem is."

7NEWS VIEWERS SNAPPED A PICTURE OF THIS SIGN AT CUSTOMS.

IT SHOWS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S SEQUESTRATION IS NOW SLOWING DOWN TRAVEL.

"We landed at 5:15, actually 15 minutes earlier than we were supposed to, I believe."

.AND DEPLANED FROM THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC ONLY TO BE WELCOMED BACK BY THIS.

"It was like 7:45, we finally made it up to here for them to take our baggage, and they wouldn't take it."

THAT'S BECAUSE TERESA AND HER SEVEN FRIENDS FROM IOWA WERE STUCK DEEP IN THIS LINE AT CUSTOMS WITH NOT ENOUGH AGENTS TO GET PASSENGERS THROUGH TO THEIR CONNECTING FLIGHTS.

"Now, we are rebooked on stand-by at 7:10 in the morning. Some of us will get out to Chicago; some of us won't."

ENDLESS LINES AND RAGING TEMPERS AS THE TSA STAFFING SHORTAGE LEFT PASSENGERS TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES AND AIRLINES LEFT TO PICK UP THE MESS.

"They're afraid of all these people? What's gonna happen? They're scared." Return to index of stories...

PREVENTING ALLERGIES-VO OC

THE SPRING ALLERGY SEASON HAS COME EARLY THIS YEAR - AND DOCTORS SAY STAYING AHEAD OF SYMPTOMS, IS THE BEST WAY TO GET THROUGH IT.

ALLERGISTS WARN WAITING UNTIL YOUR RUNNY NOSE, ITCHY EYES, AND SNEEZING ARE IN FULL SWING - MAKES IT MUCH HARDER TO STOP ALLERGIC REACTIONS.

BESIDES TAKING ALLERGY MEDICATIONS, THEY RECOMMEND STAYING INDOORS WHEN POLLEN COUNTS ARE HIGH, LEAVING YOUR WINDOWS CLOSED, WASHING YOUR HAIR AFTER BEING OUTSIDE AND AVOID MOWING OR RAKING. BECAUSE IT STIRS UP BOTH POLLEN AND MOLD.

AN ESTIMATED 35-MILLION AMERICANS SUFFER FROM SEASONAL ALLERGIES. Return to index of stories...

HE DOESN'T HAVE TO GO ANY FARTHER THAN HIS FIDDLESTICKS FITNESS CENTER. LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM IS NOW OFFERING ON-SITE PHYSICAL THERAPY WITHIN COMMUNITIES AND COUNTRY CLUBS.

TOM HEGEL/PHYSICAL THERAPY PATIENT

RUNS:

1:26 I thought how great was this- I don't have to go over to the hospital, to a rehab center I can drive my golf cart, come here in two minutes and do my therapy.

NEAL TROTTIER/PHYSICAL THERAPIST

RUNS:

4:55 I see in this setting that they're definitely much more compliant. The cancellation/no show rate is almost nil, because they're right here.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

There's a definite home field advantage, because this is the setting where patients are getting therapy, they can come back and work whenever they want.

NEAL TROTTIER/PHYSICAL THERAPIST

RUNS:

3:46 Once they're done with their therapy, they can come in here and continue to work. And that again reduces the risk of re-injury. Whether it's a rotator cuff or it's a knee replacement or a back procedure.

IT MAY BE CLOSE TO HOME, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THE WORKOUT IS ANY LESS VIGOROUS.

TOM HEGEL/PHYSICAL THERAPY PATIENT

RUNS:

4:46 Each time he pushes me a little more. He adds moves for me and he strengthens me. And if I wasn't doing this, I think my arm would just be stiff.

ALTHOUGH IT MAY FEEL LIKE VIP TREATMENT, ON-SITE THERAPY CAN BE COVERED BY INSURANCE.

NEAL TROTTIER/PHYSICAL THERAPIST

RUNS:

6:39 This was billed the same way if somebody came into a outpatient clinic, an outpatient physical therapy clinic or a occupational therapy clinic and so that's a non issue actually- but a lot of people don't pursue that option because they don't know.

HAVING HIS GOLF COURSE OUTSIDE THE WINDOW, KEEPS TOM'S GOAL IN SIGHT.

TOM HEGEL/PHYSICAL THERAPY PATIENT

RUNS:

4:13 Probably my biggest motivation is to get back. I have a lot of friends here that play golf and yes I want to be back playing golf with them.

FORECAST OPEN Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"As more old debts are bought by debt buyers, there is great concern that wrongful debt collection will continue to grow, and become more aggressive."

THE NEW YORK CITY CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS CHECKING THAT THE DEBT COLLECTOR IS LICENSED, ASKING FOR THE NAME OF THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR, AND THE AMOUNT OWED. YOU MUST RECEIVE THAT INFORMATION WITHIN FIVE DAYS.

Does anybody know whose bag this is?"

SOURCES SAY THESE ARE MEMBERS OF THE ELITE T-S-A VIPR TEAM -- ABOARD THE FIVE-OH-FOUR P-M UNION PACIFIC WEST LINE.

THEY ARE CARRYING HAND HELD NUCLEAR DETECTION DEVICES WHICH PICKED UP A READING FOR NUCLEAR ACTIVITY.

VIPR TEAMS WERE CREATED AFTER THE 2004 BOMBING OF A TRAIN IN MADRID, SPAIN -- TO PROTECT U.S. TRANSPORTATION

HERE AT THE OGLIVE STATION THEY DETAIN THIS TRAIN AND SEARCH FOR THE PERSON OR BAG THAT COULD BE POSING A DEADLY THREAT.

"Who's bag is this?"

THE BAG IN QUESTION TURNS OUT TO BE CLEAN, BUT THERE IS STILL A SIGNAL OF SOMETHING NUCLEAR SOMEWHERE ON THE TRAIN.

"They were in charge and they weren't going to let the train go out until they knew it was safe"

JERRY JONES, A CHICAGO LAWYER WAS HEADING HOME ON THAT TRAIN. HE'S THE PASSENGER IN THE BLUE SHIRT.

REPORTER: "They actually narrowed it down to the people right around you on the train."

"Yes they did."

REPORTER: "And the entire time you sitting their thinking im wondering what they are looking for?"

"I had no idea I was the the center of the activity."

JONES SAYS THE SPECIAL SECURITY TEAM MUST PICKED UP ON HIM AS HE ENTERED THE STATION AND WALKED UP THESE STAIRS. LITTLE DID HE KNOW THAT A NUCLEAR STRESS TEST HE HAD TOOK EARLIER THAT DAY HAD SET OFF SILENT ALARMS AND SENT SECURITY SCURRYING.

"Probably 15 minutes."

REPORTER: "15 minutes of them buzzing around looking for this bag?"

"Right"

REPORTER: "Or person?"

"Yes."

THE T-S-A TEAM PASSED RIGHT BY HIM SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE ENDING UP ON HIS TRAIN CAR. FINALLY HE GOT A CLUE WHEN AN AGENT QUESTIONED THE MAN RIGHT NEXT TO HIM.

"And said sir do you have an explanation as to why i am getting a high isotope reading on your bag.? And the fellow's jaw dropped"

ONCE THE AGENT SAID ISOTOPE -- JONES SAYS HE REALIZED HE WAS THE ONE THEY WERE LOOKING FOR AND THAT'S WHEN HE RAISED HIS HAND TO CONFESS.

"I had a nuclear stress test."

AFTER SHOWING HIS I-D AND PROOF OF THE NUCLEAR TEST -- WHICH CAN LEAVE PATIENTS EMITTING RADIATION FOR SOME TIME-- JONES AND THE OTHER PASSENGERS WERE ALLOWED TO GO ON THEIR WAY.
