FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

After what's been a very mild December across Southwest Florida and much of the U.S., a cool down is finally coming in the next few days.

There's actually a weak cold front stalled over South Florida today, but we'll have to wait for next cold front to arrive Wednesday before we feel a bigger temperature swing.

For the remainder of our Monday, expect a fairly nice evening and overnight featuring a partly to mostly cloudy sky along with mild temperatures.

Morning lows Tuesday will cool into the low 60s closer to the coast and mid to upper 50s deep inland.

A couple of spotty showers will be possible this evening, but most areas will end up staying dry.

Tuesday will be another relatively cloudy day, but we'll at least manage to see more sunny periods than today; temperatures will be warmer than average once again with afternoon highs hitting 80 degrees.

With the exception of a few spotty showers, tomorrow will be a mainly dry day.

We'll start tracking the next cold front moving into Southwest Florida by Wednesday, which will help clear out the clouds while also lowering our temperatures and humidity levels.

In fact, by Wednesday night into Thursday morning, we'll see some of the coldest weather here since nearly a month!

Morning lows Thursday should drop as low as the mid to upper 40s, and afternoon highs will only reach the middle to upper 60s.

This next cool down, however, will be brief.

By Friday afternoon, highs return to the mid 70s, and by the weekend, we'll be back around 80 degrees during the afternoon.

At this point, the upcoming weekend looks to be mostly dry, but we'll likely be tracking an increase in cloud cover. Return to index of stories...
