Just before 6 this morning, a woman driving her two children to a school bus stop WAS STUNNED WHEN BULLETS STARTED FLYING.

THE FAMILY WAS AT THE INTERSECTION OF DAVIS COURT AND AMERICAN AVENUE WHEN A BULLET GRAZED HER 10-year-old.

She tells NBC2 it was a terrifying experience.

Take a look at the car. You can see five bullet holes on the passenger side, SOME NEIGHBORS TOLD ME THEY HEARD 14 SHOTS, POLICE ARE NOT CONFIRMING HOW MANY SHOTS WERE FIRED.

THE GUNFIRE shattered the windows.

She tells me heR SON IS HOME TONIGHT AND WILL BE okay. Her 11 year old daughter WAS also in the car BUT was not hit. Immediately after being shot at, the woman drove to her home on Edison Avenue and called police. Both children go to San Carlos Elementary School. Return to index of stories...

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXCTR-CHROMA

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Some cooler weather is in the works across Southwest Florida soon, and this will be the coolest weather we've seen since the second week of December.

For the warm weather fans, soak up the sun and warmth today because the temperature drop begins tomorrow.

It'll be a mild and sunny afternoon with highs on track to reach the upper 70s to lower 80s.

A few spotty showers may develop late this afternoon, but these will mainly stay far south over Collier and Hendry County.

Tonight's weather will be a little on the cool side again with lows in the middle to upper 50s by Wednesday morning.

The chilliest weather of the week will arrive late Wednesday with a fairly strong cold front. The mother load of the chilly air won't arrive until Wednesday night, making for quite the chilly start to our Thursday morning with lows in the middle to upper 40s.

Even though this will be a fairly strong cold front in terms of seeing a big temperature swing, don't expect to see any rain as it moves through Southwest Florida; the atmosphere will just be too dry to produce much rain.

Thursday will end up being a very breezy and chilly day with winds gusts getting as high as 25-30 mph and daytime highs only reaching the middle to upper 60s.

Beyond Thursday, the chilly weather begins to fade away.

By Friday afternoon, temperature warm to the middle 70s, and by the weekend, we're right back in the 80s. Return to index of stories...

AS THE HOUSE CONVENED, JOHN BOEHNER FACED COMPETITION FOR THE JOB OF SPEAKER, FROM TEA PARTY REBELS WHO CALL BOEHNER TOO MODERATE AND 24 REPUBLICANS VOTED AGAINST HIM

BUT, IN THE FINAL TALLY

THE HOUSE SPEAKER GOT 216 VOTES AND DODGED THE EMBARRASSMENT OF A RUNOFF

so let's stand tall and prove the skeptics wrong. let's make this a time of harvest 34

AS HOUSE MEMBERS GOT SWORN IN

AND SENATORS. IN PHOTO-OP RE-ENACTMENTS. REPUBLICANS, WHO RUN THE SENATE AGENDA FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2007, PLANNED, AS THEIR FIRST MOVE THIS WEEK,

A VOTE TO MANDATE BUILDING THE KEYSTONE X-L PIPELINE

SOME DEMOCRATS BACK THAT.

Sot: Sen. Joe Manchin 1:00-:03

"a very open very bipartisan process"

BUT.THE DAY AFTER PRESIDENT OBAMA INDICATED HE MIGHT SIGN A KEYSTONE BILL. THE WHITE HOUSE SAID HE WON'T.

"they're gonna be areas where we disagree and gonna be some pitched battles

AND DEMOCRATS MOVED TO SLOW DOWN A SENATE VOTE

ON DAY ONE WITH MITCH MCCONNELL IN CHARGE

"we all know that one of the things the senate is best at is not doing much and uh i hope we can work this out++++

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...
